Best brass section I have ever heard. Not one stands out over the others, they blend perfectly in tone and volume. It is what a true brass section in any orchestra or band should sound like.
you mean that here the trumpets hold back, the trombones play normal (for trombones) and the tuba shakes the house invoking eldritch powers.... Yes, the outcome is perfect and I listen to it again and again :D
the trumpets aren´t holding back. Trombones can and do play louder than the trumpets. For example,, 1:35 is how a trumpet sounds when you play it extremely loudly and it´s not a sounds you ever want to hear from a trumpet in an orchestra.
It more often takes a 60-piece orchestra to produce the depth and complexity of sound that this 7-man ensemble creates as matter of course. For pure entertainment, Mnozil Brass is hard to beat. And yes, their acapella vocal are astounding. Many thanks guys.
OMG absolutely. I have a degree in Tuba performance, and then after that pivoted to choral music, and they worked HARD to do things that any good choral group does. Diction, timing, pronunciation (which, even in a native language has to be coordinated). I am so happy a group this talented exists.

Tough to compare this group with the Canadian Brass. The texture of the ensemble is so different. I miss the F. Horn sound. I know the notes are covered between tpt.3 and tbn. 1, but the richness of the horn is something that helps with cohesiveness from top to bottom. Both ensembles are wonderful and worth paying to see in person.

@hoarp001 This is an earlier incarnation of Mnozil Brass, On the far Left is Thomas Gansch, to the right of him, is someone who is no longer in the group, to His right is Roman Rindberger, then Leonard Paul, then Gerhard Füssl, then someone who is no longer in the group, I believe his name is Ed Partyka, then the Tuba player Wilfred Brandstötter.
@TehGrahmmerNahzi It is a rotary trumpet actually. It's called a "Ganschhorn", Gansch is apparently the guy who's playing it in this ensemble. My music store sells them (we're the only retailer in the US) Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center.
Excellent video! The producer and director captured varied video that matched the pacing of the music and got the featured player on the screen when there were solos!
...even as an acapella choir they're amazing...

I love how well balanced they are, its almost like listening to an orchestra :)
They _are_ an orchestra, in the bare sense of the word; 'a group of instrumentalists'.
They're not just great, they are scary great. That vocal rendition brought a tear to my eye.

I'm also a bassoonist and I this this is awesome! Makes me jealous that I can't do this.
Haha, I love how they're just playing some random classical pieces like the Siegfried Horn Call and Mahler 5 at the beginning ^^
