Love the purple eyeshadow with the lighter inner corner! You rock those pops of color.
I know it was hard to cut down the length of these videos, but I do think it makes them easier to watch (for me, at least). I've enjoyed being able to watch them in one sitting :)
I'm really looking forward to the 4th book! I always considered that one my favorite, since I loved the Triwizard Tournament (especially the dragons and merpeople). It was so exciting reading the clues along with Harry and trying to figure them out. Weeeeeeeeeee 🐲🧜♀🧜♂
Thank you so much!!! I just picked up a few more eyeshadows today. It's becoming an addiction. Though I still have a lot to learn. 😁
Eeeeek!!!! That makes me feel soo good. They just were too long.
I'm excited for the fourth book too!!! I think I'm going to enjoy the tournament even more than the films (though that doesn't surprise me at this point, books being so much more to them). I know you love your merpeople. Every time I see a mermaid of some sort, I think of you. hehe 🧜♀️
Got some tears for sure in this book
Also hands down prefer this book over the movie ❤
They learned a shrinking potion in Snapes class, because Snape was going to use it on Trevor. There was no charms class although they must have learned the tickling charm for the exams. I thought they learned something in transfiguration class as well. All the best from Missouri.
True, that is something that I like, since it doesn't play a role in the story. I guess I just want more because the school is THE setting for these things...maybe I want too much, haha! 😆
❤
I love these early drops! 😍
Yaaaaay!!! That makes me so happy! 😀
Me too! I like watching them while I have breakfast before going to work :)
I think the thing with Sirius and Peter Pettergrew is very interesting
🐕🦺🐀😃
Fantastic Video ❤
Thank you, thank you!!
Interesting conversation as always. I always find POA very uplifting to read and I think it’s due to the introduction of some characters that I love. Also Voldemort doesn’t make an actual appearance so maybe that’s a factor?
I agree that Crookshanks is the hero of this story and I love everything about him. Fingers crossed for more Crookshanks moments in the series.
With the conversation about reading and being literal, I’m finding it hard to explain what I mean. Maybe I don’t have an enquiring mind or I’m not very observant, but at the time of reading, I don’t always notice plot holes or phrases that may not make sense. It’s like a total trust in the author that what they are telling me is how it is. I’m still not explaining it well 😂
Trelawney is another very complicated character that is presented as quite simple and this is why I love the writing I think. She’s presented as a fraud, then there’s loads of theories about her predictions, then there’s the deeper aspect, which you mentioned, of her being much more aware than is recognised, and playing this character. It will be exciting to see her portrayal in the series.
Yes Matt I have always wanted Rowling to re-edit the books to address any story lines etc that would benefit from improvement. I wonder if she would change things we have discussed, or if she would have issues with things we haven’t thought of. Having watched some interviews, I’ve always got the impression that Rowling was under pressure to shorten the books and cut out things that were not necessarily relevant so it would be interesting to see the original versions of the stories. With the age issue, I also think there was pressure to keep stories simple, which does underestimate children of that age and I don’t think she bowed to a lot of this pressure.
GoF is a complicated book for me. It’s my least favourite film and I thought it was my least favourite book until I started my re-reads about 5 or 6 years ago. I’m not a sports fan so that’s why I think I struggle with it. But the first time I read it again, I cried when I finished it because it felt like the beginning of the dark times. Going online now to buy the Jim Kay version 😀
Always brining some deeeeeelicious discussion.
And no worries at all. I was speaking to my boss last week about something and I couldn't tell if I just wasn't saying what I wanted to say well or if she wasn't hearing me. It was mildly frustrating not knowing how to correct it. 🙃
But I would add what Matt said to me, when I was sharing your thought, is that what he's expressing is he does trust her. And that maybe that's part of the problem. 🤣
Crookshanks is the bomb diggity ... do doubt. 😜 (I'm in a mood, hehe) Seriously though, we better get that kinda representation in the show!
Oooo that would be interesting to know, if she felt pressured to cut them down. I mean she was of a time where books of that length for kids of that age weren't as common. So that would make sense to me. But I think you can still cut it down without cutting out crucial things. We just might not get the things Matt wanted more of, like the classes. I can see that.
Interesting (on GoF)! I legit forgot most of these books it's been so long. So I can't remember how I felt about them first few gos at reading them. But I can relate, as I'm soooo not a sports person.
Yaaaay!!! I love those Jim Kay books!!!
@@LoveLumos 😂😂 deeeeeelicious 😂
I’ve been thinking about it and I’ve realised I’m very character led so if the author makes me like the character ( actually not necessarily like but resonate) then I think I don’t concentrate as much on plot lines so don’t pick up on stuff. That’s why I trust Rowling because I admire her character building so much. Interesting that Matt trusts her as well. Wish we could have these conversations face to face as I think I might express myself better ( but maybe not as I’d maybe not process stuff quick enough 😂)
@@justinejackman6029 We're character first people too, always! If we don't connect with the characters, we're out. As soon as you said that, I leaned over to Matt and double checked that what I thought was true, and that he is too. It doesn't mean we don't see or pick up on other things, just that character is where we connect or don't.
And I can't say the same. I'm worse with in-person verbalizing. I blame my self-diagnosed autism for that one. haha
@@LoveLumos it really depends for me on the person I’m talking to and if I feel comfortable with them then I can be a total chatterbox 😝
Thumbnail 💛 👌
Thank you so much, Roy!!! 😀
I finally caught up
Yaaaaayyy!!! We’ll be getting going on GoT soon.
So excited to have ya on this journey of revisiting the story we all know and love. 💗
Good afternoon aubrey and mat 😊❤
Good morning to ya, Natalie! Hope it’s a magical afternoon for ya! 😃✨
Wingardium Leviosa is learned in Charms and applied in book 1. They learn the Ridikulus spell in DADA to defeat bogarts which is used later. I'd have to look for more.
I always saw Trelawney as a delusional fraud who on the rare occasion makes a real prophecy because of her bloodline.
It's specified in the books that with the Fidelius Charm in place that Voldemort could walk right up to their window and not be able to see them. So I understood it to mean the location of their actual physical forms was the secret.
Yeah, mostly I am wanting more learned things mentioned that are not critical to the story later. Just to add a little bit in there so as to not make it so obvious what is coming. And, perhaps, this is something that happens more as we move along...I just can't remember the books well enough, haha.
Do you know where in the books it says that? Is it something I missed or something we haven't come to in this reading?
@@DraecorInc let me look because I know the Fidelius Charm is discussed in a couple of the books.
I’d be curious to know too (regarding the last paragraph) as it has yet to be specified as such. Is it in future books? It’s been some time since we read them, so we make our judgements based on what’s been provided so far, and if it makes sense so far.
@@DraecorInc Flitwick explains to Rosmerta in PoA how the Fidelius works, he says that Voldemort could have looked through the window of their dining room and wouldn't have found them. It was during the discussion where Harry found out Sirius was his godfather while hiding under the table at The Three Broomsticks.
The book is targeted for 10 to 17 yr Olds, it's a fairy tale not a college text book. As it is some story lines are too advanced for her targeted audience.
Are you referencing something specific we discussed? 😃
Disney hardly explains anything. If JK explained everything the books would be too long and lose the audience. I guess that is why she approved a tv series.
@@suzannemoorhead We're not asking for 'everything' to be explained, just the things she brings up.
To address your first comment, this specific book is aimed at 13 year olds, as that is their age and the books are aimed at the age the kids are. At 13 I was taking english comprehension exams and learning how to understand literature and story. And I'd say if Harry Potter is a fairy tale then LOTR is and so many others.
Again, is there something specific we discussed that you're wanting to chat about? I'd be more than happy to discuss, as that's what these videos are about, discussion of the text/story told. 😊
You are right, with the TV show starts we will get more info. Maybe😊?
@@suzannemoorhead I'm hoping so to!!! Are you excited for it? I was apprehensive at first but as we've been re-reading the books and remembering all that we loved about them, I'm soooo excited to see that detail displayed in a show. We'll definitely be reacting to each episode.
