I appreciate that. I’ve definitely found use for this tool. Best tip I can give is use a generous amount of imperial sizing wax. It’s a slow process, but getting an extra 5-10 shots per case is definitely worth it to me. Cheers!
Can the expansion above the belt cause difficulty ejecting/extracting from the chamber after being fired? They chamber pretty easy but after firing won’t come out of the chamber. Great video.
Being new to re-loading is like swimming with sharks. Am trying to work wit a 300 H&H Mag. I ordered an Adjustable Case Gauge and a Case Gauge Depth Micrometer and am unsure if I needed them. And then there is the Expander Die Body which requires a mandrel? And then there is your video on the Belted Magnum Re=sizing Die & Collet. What is really needed ??
So the collet die sizes where a standard die won’t. As we fire the belted mag cartridges they expand above the belt. Eventually they won’t chamber. The die I’m referring to fixes this by sizing the area preventing it from chambering.
Ok. So, belted magnum bulge...is it primarily an expansion upon firing issue or primarily an issue that comes from FL resizing with cam over? In other words what would you say is brass life expectancy with the collet die vs FL sizing 2 thou without cam over? Such exotic items can be hard to come by in Canada.
It’s caused from firing, the FL resizing increases the bulge. Brass life FL sizing only 4-5 is what I get. With collet die 15-20 is what I get. My results are based on using the same load with each test.

Sorta, the main reason the body die won’t work is because to size above the belt the brass has to go into the die beyond the belt, but the belt sits raised above the body. The collet slips over it, and protrudes higher than the belt. When the collet goes into the die it squeezes the brass above the belt where any other die won’t touch. I really like the collet die because it works for many different cartridges not just 1, and it lets you get range brass. Around me belted magnum brass is sold at scrap price (extremely cheap). Most people will reload it 2-3 times then toss it here. I’m able to get the brass cheap, and reload it many times.

If they chamber easy, but get stuck it could be an over pressure issue.
