always test to ground too.. cant tell you how many times I've tested across 2 lines and had 0, but then 1 line to the ground and a triple digit looks me in the face.
Never trust anyone saying it's off and never trust that it's wired proper all the way down to the simplest job. 1) they may have shit something off but not your circuit 2) just last week I had a rodent damage and bridge wires crazy like, 240 from neutral to ground!!
I just found your site, love it. I’ve been an electrician for 49 years, got my training in the military and have only known maybe three female electricians. And out of there only one I would call a real electrician, I love what you do I like your channel. I watched some some back videos, I wish more young people young women in particular would see the trades as a good alternative to college. You’re doing a great job. Please keep it up I’ll be watching. The old electrician
We need a podcast with “Karly the sparky” and “Lexi the electrician” You gals would have a very unique experience in the trades that would probably translate to a very interesting podcast. With zoom or FaceTime it could totally be done. I’d listen for sure.
I had to bend conduit for the first time and i realized quick im not a fan. Mc i actually dont mind working with but conduit is insane. I respect all the journeyman and other apprentices that have mastered that art. Every time I see perfect looking conduit I get jealous.
Props to you girl! I'm 250lbs and been in the game for 30 years now. I have a hard time moving things like loaded emt around. You are the only person I've seen that gives a shit and is obviously proud to be a Journeyman. Love to see you kill it. Keep it up.
I love this. I started my apprenticeship in 1975, loved every minute of it. Im retired now but I still pratice the trade for friends and family. Things have sure changed in the last 49 years. Love these videos👍👍. Remember SAFETY FIRST!! ALWAYS!!
I get you regarding all the Burndy connectors you needed to install for the replacement generator leads. I lot of extra work and time, but you handled it. 😬 All the best!
Safety precautions are written in blood. Following the protocol is the smart move. Wild how much ego runs through the trades, asshats thinking they know better. Glad to see the example you're setting
I often wonder if the ego is due to people not wanting to be told what to do - they see agreeing to such a request as a sign of weakness - or because they they're so self-conscious that they think they look "sissy" (not tough) in PPE.
This is amazing! There doesn't seem to be anything you can't handle! I really like seeing all the details. Don't worry if your video isn't perfect. Obviously, you need to focus on your work and stay safe. I'd much rather see the details with imperfect video than just see a few perfect shots and miss all the action. I've only done residential wiring, so seeing everything required on a large commercial job is interesting. I can't believe they wanted you to cut those cables in the middle like that! I probably would have asked to talk to whoever requested that and tried to explain how much extra work it would cause, plus a lot of unnecessary splices. Although you spliced them perfectly, they are still additional failure points. I don't complain often at work, but when someone requests something stupid like that, I speak up. If they insist, I'll do it, but i let them know first.
“This cable tray was a biatch” classic. Those are some thick bois I can only imagine how much of a pain in the ass. Also I have heavy tool envy. #want that torque wrench so bad
Love your work as always!! Just curious about the test for dead/de-energised, I would do L1 to L2, L1 to L3, L2 to L3, and from Neutral I would test every leg N, to L1, L2 and L3 and lastly a proximity volt detector and test all devices on known live power. Maybe I'm just over cautious, LOL.
No such thing as over cautious, it’s always good practice to check for power for safety. I do this on a daily basis at work just because I’m trying to make it back home to my wife and kids every night
This is the first video I'm looking at, so I'm not sure if you're union or not, but either way: hello from IBEW 688! Love the shorts, keep up the good work!
Whether you're working on household or industrial A/C or EV high voltage DC or A/C always use the rule of live dead live. Verify your meter works (live test), verify your circuit is dead (dead test), reverify your meter (live test). Best way to keep safe
9:56 If only the keyboard warriors knew that only a 4 foot fall can be dangerous... A 6 foot fall can be fatal, shoutout to you for actually tying off. Ya never know when it could be that day something goes bad or someone falls. better safe than sorry! 👍🤣
Sure, but that lanyard expands at least 8 foot. It wouldn’t help in a real fall. But as 3rd party, you do what the safety man says. I’m glad I don’t work in I&E anymore. Not a bad job, just not for me.
I’d like to see you review your torque wrench 👍 I’m a Ford mechanic and I have a split beam torque wrench that I really like but I’d like to hear what you have to say about being an electrician using yours.
If you can (im not sure if your safety regulations will allow it) get a glue on gopro helmet mount and stick it on your hard hat. If you can afford to keep one on your chest to then youll have multiple shots to pick from in situations like the hair shot😂. Keep up the hard work and amazing content sweetheart!!!

Lexi, did you feel the effects of all that overhead struggle with the splicing by the next morning ?. I know you often are reaching overhead and have built up the strength the average person does not remotely possess though so that's why I wondered.

Very cool to see commercial electrical work like this.
I work in industrial and I would be so lost without by T6-1000. Greatest tester ever made IMHO.

Love the comments about the check to make sure power is disabled. 100% solid advice!!!

Can you do a van walkthru video. I'm an elevator mechanic, always love to see other peoples setups for fittings, wire, tools etc.

Wow. What an awesome job 👍. You and your team rock! Major league respect!!! Keep up the amazing work. B.t.w. your cable management is brilliant!

Freaking awesome Job Lexi !
proper shutdown work, impressive.
That is a stressful replacement but it feels good when it is all done.
Tremendous work you and your team did. I respect the quality work you do out there.
Great Video. Good Job. Thank you for sharing
Good job, Lexi, safety comes first. And the job well done. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I check neutral to each phase, just in case one is floating which won't show up on a line-to-line check.

Good advice. No point testing with a dead meter ... might as well test it with a brick.

Meter do you use for industrial electrician work ?
Hey Lexi,
do you guys work alongside a generator specialist eg hooking up/testing control wires ?
What size king kombo is that? 6ft?
Pretty work
since wearing the harness is required by osha anyway not sure why you are catching a hard time about a harness.
id like to see the review on the torque wrench

I’d like to see you review your torque wrench 👍
I’m a Ford mechanic and I have a split beam torque wrench that I really like but I’d like to hear what you have to say about being an electrician using yours.
I believe the Milwaukee digital torque wrench doesn't exceed 200Nm, correct?
A torque of 600Nm would result in excessive overtightening

Que cámara utilizas para grabar ? Muy bien trabajo Lexi

So can electricians just be home electricians? Looking to get into the career and have no interest in this type of stuff, just building stuff. Is that an option?
you can be residential but you wont get paid as much as this
if you have no interest in it theres no point in studying it
Residential or commercial, either way you will be “building stuff” difference is resi is way more repetitive and mind numbing, and you get paid less
Rule # 1: Never let the the person that doesn't have to repair cut cables tell you where to cut said cables.
Lexi, did you feel the effects of all that overhead struggle with the splicing by the next morning ?. I know you often are reaching overhead and have built up the strength the average person does not remotely possess though so that's why I wondered.
