- Hey guys, TheSupremeRk9s here! with all the shiny fails here on youtube, I decided it would be fun to see which shiny pokemon were failed the most times! Like I say in the video, this was just based on videos posted publicly at the time, so in the future these numbers will almost definitely change!
Even so, I still think its pretty interesting to put a number to how many people are actually failing these things!

I expected Safari Zone Chansey to be on this list, but I guess you'd need to FIND one to fail it.
I found one. The only shiny I have ever found and it fled.

am I the only one who buys as many ultra balls as physically possible JUST in case I find a shiny, even though I dont shiny hunt at all?

I always carry ultra, Quick, dusk, and timer balls
I wish I had. I have failed two shinies because I had no pokeballs
Saundis I always like to have plenty of ultra, quick, and dusk balls on me. About 100 each, sometimes only 50 dusk, but still. You might be the only non-shiny hunter with that reasoning, but just watch yourself get it when you least expect it 😛
Don't worry i bought 999 ultra balls for shiny hunting and completing the pokedex

I have caught around 40 shinies since my first in 2013. I’ve failed 2.

Not counting that motherfucking Gyarados, I've encountered 4 shinies and failed 3. Darumaka was killed (I didn't know what a shiny was at that time) Salandit (male) was knocked out, Crabrawler was caught but I accidentally reset the game without trading it to my brother. The only shiny I have is Onix, and I saved 6 times after I got him. (His name is Remmy.)

My Shiny Mewtwo. I mean, I technically caught it the first time, but since Synchronize failed I had to soft-reset and try again, so basically a fail

oh you think failing a shiny is bad? try catching a good shiny, getting its ivs inspected, finding out it has perfect ivs in the right stats for competetive use, only for your console to die before you can save your game.

@@nnickerson100 if it does that you dont hunt for the charger. Quickly save or power off as power offing doesnt affect save files if it dies or put it in the dock if it charges it.

That’s exactly the same of what happened to me with venonat, now I know a Magmar is way more rare than venonat but a venonat should be easier to catch and I only threw one ball at it 😭😭😭
I remember trying to catch just a regular ho-oh was a pain. it would always run out of moves and kill itself with struggle. this is probably because the thing only had moves with 5 pp

I had a moltres with that issue... :/ it took literally over 50 balls
with me its the dogs none of them stay in the ball it took 40 ultra balls and 15 timer balls to catch sucuine in oras
I knew about that, so I went through my plan on like 100 Ho-ohs to make sure I would catch the shiny😂 I did, though

A tip for soft reseting for shinies: if you think you might not be able to catch it, practice while you reset! If you can't get it when it's normal, you won't get it when it shines.

I guess I should be thankful that I didn't lose my shiny abra... or any of my shiny abras... because I have FIVE that I found while looking for shiny female meowstic in the friend safari. And I wasn't even using a pokemon with shadow tag because I was using one with cute charm instead (and yes I know I could have fainted that pokemon, then had a shadow tag one after but I didn't really care that much because Meowstic couldn't teleport anyways). The fact that I found 5 (and also one male shiny meowstic to really rub it in) before finding the female kind of ruins that feeling though ;-; but I did find her eventually!

Winter Piplup, well a few weeks ago I was soft resetting for a shiny chimchar (the on prof birch gives you after you beat the elite 4 3 times) and I was sick of hearing the chimchar sound after about 2k SRs and was messing around. So I decided I would Dex nav instead of checking the inventory and if I got a Dex nav shiny first I would give up on my chimchar. So about 20 mins after I started this Dex nav thing I chose piplup just to hear the sound of a different pokemon and used the Dex nav to find a pooch year. I walk into it and see a regular poochyena and then I throw out the piplup and I thought it was a regular piplup but before I soft resetted I saw the sparkles. Idk if that's lucky or unlucky and I still have the piplup rn.
i tried to soft reset a shiny giratina for 4 years now on two different games and i still never got it, so i decided i would start making my dream team for pokemon Sun/Moon and the first on my list was a beldum, but not a normal beldum, but one with good Iv's espically in attack, so i decide to breed with a Japanese ditto i had just to try and get a shiny beldum even tho i would of gotten the Iv one first. i kid you not it took me only 4 eggs until I see a shiny Beldum, and not only was it shiny, it had a naughty nature and it had a high attack IV, everything i needed XD

I know I'm 2 years late to this video, but in OR/AS at least, Lugia has very low PPs for its attacks, and I think many failures to catch it are simply due to it escaping capture for too many rounds and Struggling itself to death. I agree that you need to be prepared when shiny hunting but I don't think a PP shortage is ever the first thing people think of when gearing up for a hunt.

It's alright, I failed a shiny Giratina as well back in 2014 on Alpha Sapphire. Reset over the darn thing before it even landed and only realised until after the screen turned black. It was the most helpless feeling. I did get a remarkable reclaim the next day, though. I'm glad you got the reclaim, as well. :)

I really don't get why everyone hate garitina I LOVE its shiny form. It looks like the negative of a photo graph. It literally comes from the opposite world that's suppose to be the negative image of the pokemon world. So its shiny not only looks cool but it makes sense. Plus I think that there are far worse out there like basically 95% of the gen 1 pokemon all suck as shiny's

I ALSO failed my shiny Giratina in my platinum version. I was 1 week into the hunt, at around the 9000sr or more, probably, and I was watching videos while doing it soo, you can guess what happened... I soft reseted before seeing if it was shiny and all I could see was a bit of the yellowish giratina fading to black. Luckily just a week later and other 9000sr I didn't sr and caught it in a master ball.
Edit: weirdly enough, I encountered a shiny geodude in a horde in pokemon x in the victory road and it didn't kill itself and I caught it! My first ever random shiny encounter

i was playing pokemon black and i didn't know i had to delete my file to start a new game so when i did i couldn't save. i chose oshawatt as my starter and the first pokemon i had to catch on my own was a shiny patrat. i did and when my dsi ran out of battery, it was gone. 2 years later i played pokemon black 2 and chose oshawatt again when i entered a battle i found out it was a shiny. and i still have it to this day. the first freaking time i played it too!

Subcategory: Any early shiny pokemon that you can run into BEFORE the game gives you pokeballs. In Gold I ran into a shiny Sentret the second I stepped outta town and was sooo mad that I couldn't do anything to catch it. Luckily, years later I was able to catch it in the same place in SoulSilver being forced to walk to the next town over after beating the E4 since I didn't have a pokemon with fly. And you can beat your sweet ass I had tons of balls to throw at it then.XD

***** If it makes you feel any better, I had over 60 shiny pokes(some fakes, but most real) that I either caught for myself or got from friends. And then I let a friend borrow my Y version which had them all on there and well.... I guess you can imagine what happened.
I nearly quit pokemon for good after that, and I'm only coming back around now due to Sun and Moon hype and am playing OR for the first time right now. I DO have like 3-5 shinies, but they're all either event or DexNaved.

emurphy66 We kept playing since deep down, we love Pokemon too much to ever give it up, even when we lose our best mons.
That being said, I can hardly do ANY nuzlockes. I get attached to all my pokes and on the last one I did(which was also the first and only one I finished) I did a Wondertrade nuzlocke and ended up with a Bunnalby as my starter. Well, he grew to be favorite mon on the run (diggersbytho), but when I got to victory road he ended up dying and I didn't play that game again for a month. By the time I came back I didn't even remember what killed him and I only kept going since I was literally right at the end of the game. I wanted to do a successful nuzlocke for so long, so I couldn't just give up right before the E4.
I think I might hunt giratina in gen 4. Are there any methods I should use or should I just hunt full odds

Shiny Pooch being wholly unnecessary and just plain messed up is the same reason why shiny Zig is absolutely mandatory and a godsend though. In RS, a shiny Pooch is just the game shoving it in your face that you were a matter of frames off, while in Emerald, it's confirmation that you're definitely getting your starter. Iconic and ironic.
exceggcute was actually the first shiny that i caught myself in my moon game

Shiny safari zone eggs was my first full odds shiny back in Fire Red almost 20 years ago, and it ran after the first ball. Definitely amusing to see I am not the only one
