- Today I'm expanding a bit on why I stopped printing DTF transfers at home, when I had my DTG printer. The fumes from curing DTF powder are super nasty, and always made me feel bad. Long term? Who knows. Let's talk about it a bit.

Thanks for sharing ur knowledge with us. Yes, please becareful cause I saw that same video. Also I made 11 years in 2024 Quitting Cigarettes. It's been a blessing. I do wanna up my T-shirts from using vinyl to dtf. But I wanna b careful while using them as well.
Go with already printed dtf transfers. So all you have to do is press them 🙂
Thank you for this. I used to always comment on other videos when I would see people doing this process unsafe. I often got rude comments and eventually stopped commenting. I have an exhaust fan and another fan on the other side, making sure the fumes are going out. N95 and gloves. I love this process but know it is dangerous. My problem is that my customers often give me 3 or 5 days' notice and can't get prints mailed from other sources in time. Customers, meaning friends and co-workers

Is using DTF (Direct to Film) printing on t-shirts safe for consumers? Considering that people often use irons and steamers to remove wrinkles from t-shirts, is the final product safe for end-users?
I’m gonna go on a limb here and say the fumes from dtf printing is probably the same as curing plastisol
No they're not. The fumes from dtf printing comes from when you cure and melt the adhesive powder. With screen printing, it'd be the moisture from the ink from my understanding. Either way, it's totally different fumes and chemicals bring released into the air
I seen the video of the gentlemen that was diagnosed with cancer from this.
I purchase my transfers and press them myself.
Just to be safe I use a mask and a fan to pull most of the fumes out.
I hope using the fan is enough for safety reasons.
If you're just pressing transfers you should be OK. It's the curing of the powder that really let's off some huge nasty fumes

I’m SHOCKED at how much fumes are released with so many crafts. I have an Etsy shop and have experimented with so. Many. Things. I’m also stubborn and always try to do it myself. 🫠
Candle making - mixing the fragrance oils. Holy moly, it gave me a headache and my breathing felt different.
Sublimating mugs - also fumes! Didn’t know if it was the machine, or….?
Laser engraving - I have the very portable laser pecker. I live in an apartment in San Francisco. I’m limited in space.
Being a maker and working out of my apartment has felt like business gymnastics, but never thought it would involve so many toxic smells!
I have a heat press and going to try and DTF hack soon. But I haven’t prioritized it. I wonder why….
Yes!! I totally agree! I've always kinda liked the smell of sublimation 🤣🤣 but thankfully never had any bad reactions to it. I was gonna start making candles! I actually have the materials there. Thankfully you mentioned that, now I might never try it lol. Gosh, subbing mugs smells different. I did one yesterday and it was stronger.
Laser engraving I need to open my carage door. Even with an extractor fumes sometimes Come out.

@@NekoPrints maybe try candle making once and see how you like it? I made a handful of candles with different scents so… 🤷🏻♀️ it’s mixing the fragrance oil in the hot wax that I find difficult. My friend made candles with me. She was fine. Loved all the scents, lol, so you might like it!
Since you like the smell of subbing, maybe you’ll like candles. Haha.
It’s been such a journey figuring out all the different ways to sublimate. I’ve wasted so much money.
I converted the typical Epson printer with sublimation ink. It’s the one where you need that special coating on the mug or mostly polyester fabric to sublimate.
Do you notice that the colors are less vibrant? Is that the nature of the ink or a settings thing?
