I don't want to look like a hater here but as a man who rebuilds deisel engines I can tell you this engine has 50k tops in it before needing another rebuild
Ive never built a diesel engine, but there certainly are things i would do different. Got to take pride in what your work is, but i guess this is "quality" on that side.

I mean the tolerances on an engine are in the thousandths and assembly damn near needs to be drenched all over those bearings,cam lobes,etc. Not hating but there is just no way this engine has the proper lubrication upon initial startup and whatnot.

I could if I had instructions.......aviation techs are considered unskilled labor (I think) because we're taught to go by the maintenance manuals...and they're constantly updated so you have to pull manual for every job every time. We could even get in trouble using one even a day old per FAA regs. I do feel stupid trying to diagnose my own truck problems when talking to a licensed auto tech.....lol....im not knocking them at all. And its not that I can't do the same work and do it correctly, hell, they trained monkeys to go to space......its all about the training. But in aviation if you dont have the paperwork done right there's a very real threat of federal jail time. Most aviation accidents boil down to improper maintenance that causes a series of catastrophic failures that bring birds down, and thats when the FAA really digs into paperwork to find out who screwed up. Thats why after crashes you'll find techs, managers and supervisors commit suicide. On top of the deaths they cause its federal jail time.

Bro they didn't put any oil on the main bearings and then dropped a crankshaft on them,and then....on top of all that....proceeded to spin the crankshaft. This engine will not last long. I absolutely applaud the effort but no way in hell

You clearly don't know much about auto mechanics. Not using a torque wrench or engine installation grease is not the sign of skill or talent. The only thing it guarantees is that the engine will be back in that shop or trashed in the near future. I will take a European mechanic any day over this stupid crap.

If bolts aren't tightened exactly the same, applying the same pressure all around, it will lead to trouble when you have pistons moving at 2000 rpm. Hands don't have torque wrenches built into them.
the boys are highly skilled and very sincere in their art you may think that after so much hardworking they would have recieved enough money so they would be satisfied about it but reality is that they hardly earn upto 5 $ after long day of working
I don’t think these mechanics and owners worry about the long term used of this engine after rebuild. They just want it work, even though the engine gonna last 3 months, the owners still thumb 🆙 💪🏻💪🏻to this mechanics and say they are the best.
You don't know buddy. My mini truck have 450000km on ODO and we rebuild its engine, now we have 295000km more and its still going awesome. Its not possible to attach foto or video here so i show you about thay engine.

Many situations are presented in this industry where you have to use a box or open end wrench and use the experience they are paying you for to yield the bolt… Edit. - for example. On a side note, i fully agree with you. I have always used assembly lube, never put an engine together dry! You can NEVER use too much lubrication on a engine rebuild. I've been guilty of not exactly using a torque wrench on oil pans & valve covers, but i ALWAYS use a torque wrench on rods, mains, heads, intake manifolds. I guess I'm old school as i always plasti- guage rods & mains. I've seen a number of guys rebuild engines here in the states, some high performance engines, & they say you don't need to plasti-guage rods & mains. Guess i just always like to know, & don't take the risk of an engine knocking after I've done alot of hard work building it & installing it.

When you torque the head bolts, you should start in the center then work out, this is to evenly lay the head down to the block

Actually it wont. The valve cover has a rubber gasket on the other side. That sealant is not really necessary at all, more like double insurance

Most torque values are determined by the bolt size. After you do it long enough you learn how the bolt yield will feel. Muscle memory after that.
