Three are brothers (lead singer and guitarist are identical twins). The drummer is a childhood friend. I’ve heard this in concert and the singer is amazing live. The guitar player does a lot of solos in concert and is also killer. Anyhow, really liked your reaction.

@@CamiPetyn he hits notes on that song live that could attract animals from a mile away haha. Also, if you want to hear his low voice, other songs on the album do that (Built by nations / The Weight of dreams) - two of the heavier songs on the album (kinda the opposite of this song here haha).

Even on this song, that G5 note gets a little higher in the studio recording. Here, he does the same note three times. On the album, the second note is higher, and the third is somewhere in between. (No I can’t tell you what the note is)

So… the rabbit hole should begin with Red Rocks. Then hit up Candlelight Sessions. In terms of their albums, I kind of recommend Starcatcher first. It’s really who they are now and who they have been aspiring to be sonically. I just discovered them this past spring and while I love their older stuff (they were literal children when they wrote some of it!) the new stuff hits different. Meeting the Master is phenomenal. They don’t really have B sides and very few skips. Thank you for painting them in such a lovely light. They are so talented and seem like lovely people, too.
My past time is watching GVF reaction videos. So glad the algorithm brought me to you ❤

@@doingtheellathing you know, I feel that a bit, too. I’m also happy I just found them because I don’t have to miss who they were in the early days. But at the same time, they aren’t even 30 yet. Their current era is pretty spectacular and I am looking forward to what’s next. I hope Jake sings. I hope Josh does film. I hope Sam takes more thirst trap photos… I mean does more producing, and Danny more collabs.

I personally think this band needs to perform at the Grammy Awards. Love to see the faces of other artists and bands see and hear them in person even if they aren’t nominated for an award. The video of Meeting the Master should win best video in my opinion. The way it was shot and edited is beyond anything that I have seen. Check it out and Candlelight Sessions “Light My Love”. Love this band and Love your reaction!

The keyboard is a Hammond B-3 and its a church model , they also later on made a "Porta-B" model that was smaller and lighter cause those things were HEAVY it needed a special speaker system called a "Leslie" had a spinning drum above woofer and a spinning horn above a high frequency driver which could be turned on and off and speed changed to give that unique swirling sound !!!

    thoughts while watching:
    - you should watch interviews and everything... joshy's talking voice tends to be much lower. And also people often thinks he has an accent
    - gah its making me so happy seeing you discover this. Heat Above is my favorite song by them....
    - but ALSO you need to check out Broken Bells... the candlelight version.... its a spiritual experience. Truly amazing. I would prob cry if you reacted to that vid
    - the front 3 are all brothers, josh (singer) and jake (guitar) are identical twins, and danny (drums) is sam's (keys/bass) best friend from childhood
    - putting another point about broken bells because its just that important and good
    - thee vocals are indeed CRAZY PANTS
    - also you need to check out stardust chords.... it has tons more of his vocals and just the build of it is iconic
    - saw someone else say red rocks (YES 100%) but it's too long to really be a reaction video... its multiple parts but DEFINITELY a requirement of joining the greta cult hahaha
    - oh!!!! Age of Man!!! the red rocks version..... *insert enthusiastic groan and falling on the floor* its CHEFS KISS... that could be a perfect way to react to red rocks
    - if you want an EPIC guitar solo.... The Weight of *freaking* Dreams.... that's like a TRANSPORT YOU kind of guitar solo....
    - for angelic floaty vocals... tears of rain (again, I recommend the candlelight version)
    - also I'm @doingtheellathing on tiktiok btw... I've commented a few times about knowing your videos from back in the day haha! #Veganized ;)

    Loved your commentary!
I have seen this band live at several music fests over the past few years. I fell in love with them from the first time. It was so funny when you noticed that Josh was barefoot. Every time I've seen them live, it was always Sam (keyboards) who was barefoot. Josh...off and on. Being 65, I don't mind at all seeing some hippie influence!✌

I'm so happy to see you react to them, the vocals are amazing and equally impressive live in concert. Definitely inspired by the great names like Led Zeppelin, but they indeed have their own sound.

I would definitely recommend checking out their performance of roadhouse blues since it showcases josh's lower register imo!

I do like Gretta Van Fleet, For me it is very nostalgic. I grew up in 60s and 70s, Let me tell you, what a time to grow up. It seemed every day there was a new songs, new bands, You brain was always getting enlightened! My go to Led Zeppelin, yes I am still a Ledhead! I have and love to many bands to name them all. I still remember many bands talking about being inspired by other bands, and also they were inspired by soul music i.e. Motown! I loved seeing your excitement over hearing a new song. When I was young, I thought of that as a gift! If you learn anything at all, trust your gut instincts, they don't lie! Lastly from an old rock lady, Love and kindness is the Key! Have a blessed day...
