Thanks for watching! And yeah I thought it was definitely interesting. Trying to get more reviews/tabletop stuff lined up here, so should be a few other reviews coming down the line soon.

Thanks for another in depth review! Just like with your review of Broken Shores, once I finished this one, I ordered it. Elfking looks fantastic. I recently picked up the Solo Game Master’s Guide and think Elfking might be a great candidate. If nothing else, it will be a wonderful book to read.

Thanks for watching! I do try to take a look at systems that I find interesting and have something going for them. And yeah, Elfking certainly has style to it, kind of makes me wish more of the other systems I enjoy would take a cue from at least its layout. I've got a bit of a backlog of stuff to get through, so I'm hoping to get through a few more reviews in the coming weeks.

You mentioned other beautiful books. I'd be curious what those are. Thanks for the review.

Off the top of my head, for beautiful books, I really liked the 7th ed set of Call of Cthulhu core books, the Pendragon 5.2 (And to a lesser extent, Paladin), but also in a more utilitarian manner: the gurps 4e hardback core books, a few of the goodman games hardbacks. Generally speaking, ones which are either high quality and pleasant to handle, pleasant to look at due to consistent and pleasing art style and layout, or both. This doesn't necessarily translate to 'usability' or easily navigable in many instances, unfortunately. I'd even say some of the modern printing of castles and crusades come close. not quite, but close. I'd say that each of the ones I mentioned fills that to a different degree.

@@rpgcrawler Awesome! Thank you for the recommendations. Perhaps you could do a video on your more favorite books, not from a RPG stand point, but more just a overall "feel" of them. I play solo and honestly, sometimes just like reading and looking through the books. I will be checking these out. Cheers!

@@heathsmith4864If you play solo a lot, I'd recommend some Blackoath Entertainment stuff. There's some pretty solid design work in that material. And yeah I should do a video on that some time. Take care!

@@rpgcrawler Yep, Blackoath is how I discovered your channel. I love your coverage of Alex's work.

Speaking of beautiful books and artwork, it's worth noting that all of the illustrations used are AI-generated. I don't believe this is disclosed anywhere in the book, but it can be confirmed by emailing them directly. Of course you're not just purchasing the book for the art, but "Artwork created by Lucid Eye Publications" is still a bit misleading for a final product.

That is interesting. I really do wish they had disclosed it within the book, or do so in future revisions at least. And I'm saying this as someone without a problem with AI generated images in general. It would've been wise to do so.
Hell, if anything, it'd make the layout and formatting job stand out a bit more. I've covered a things with better actual human artists doing the illustrations that didn't hold up as well in the layout and overall page design.

    The Art is AI-Generated.
