First week of hand feeding is very important and if you do not have enough experience, you might miss calculate the feeding amount or temperature. This video is manly focused on providing information on day by day basis and given first eight days of hand feeding and with day wise progress.

This video is awesome… I like that you start hand feeding them at 24 days old. I am not an expert but I’m sure chicks that are handfed younger will miss out on some gut nutrition from the parents
Most of these chicks are rejected so either I take them for hand feeding or let them die. But I’m happy for them now.

Thank you for your encouraging words. I will share the weaning progress video in few weeks. Weather and temperature is an important factor for weaning process. Optimal temperature like 35°C to 40°C help wean faster. So if you are living in warmer climates then you can shift the bird in 8 to 9 weeks time. For colder climates like mine, I keep them for 10 to 12 weeks. Also bird need to be fully independent when you shift it to cage. Hope this would help.

I would say all feeding formulas are good. As long as you are using right proportion of water and formula and not over feeding.

Hey, thanks for your kind words. I think 1 pack is not going to be enough as you need to feed them for 6 to 8 weeks until they are fully independent. So buy two, but if you ask me then go for the biggest 3kg as it is more cost effective. Also instead of A19 use A21 as it is high protein. All the best.

I just blend my cockatiel pallets with some fresh vegetables and egg. Then a bit of water to get right consistency, works perfectly.
I treat my adult babies, the same as my young babies.

Hello friend
They should be in the incubator all the time and only take them out for feeding or when you clean the incubator. I usually keep them in the incubator till they are nine week old.

Hi, I have an adult pair of cockatiel and they gave 2 babies, when the babies were 22 days old I took one out for handfeeding and another one is inside their breeding box and his parents are feeding them properly, and I am handfeeding the another one, now he is 27 days old and I have to leave out of station urgently day after tomorrow, so should I keep him back in the breeding box in the morning when his crop is empty??? Will his parents still feed him??
I do this all the time.. try doing it now and see if parents feed him.. my cockatiels are tame so it’s very easy for me… try it.. but keep checking every few hours…

@@vardhanmendse5040 I keep doing this and hand feed baby cockatiels even though they are with parents to help parents a bit raising 4 to 5 chicks.. never encountered any issue.. ensure hand feed at correct temperature and not too thick

Hey, Neopeptine is for human and not for tiny little birds. Most importantly, every feeding formula has required ingredients for birds growth, I never mixed anything and never had any issue. Stick to basics like let the crop be empty before next feed and only feed in measured quantity, never over feed. Hope this helps and all the best.

Hello, I always recommend not to trim any birds wings. It is not good for the bird, they get stressed. Instead spend some time on hand fed bird to train for outdoor.

can you tell me what the warmer you use to keep the formula in and warm while you feed them?
Take boiling water in a cup and put a plastic plate on it, and keep feeding formula in a steel bowl on that plate. That way you can keep it warm around 20 to 30 min. I do it every time. Hope this help

Yes, I have an incubator to keep them warm.

Until week 6 to 8, it depends on birds. Once he gets full feathers and starts eating some seeds then that is the time to move them out. I usually keep them out during day and night time in incubator for initial few days just to make them use to it.

At this age it should be fully independent.. most of my cockatiels are fully independent by week 7 to 8.
You should encourage him to eat seeds.. always keep seed mix in his cage.. add some canary seeds in a separate bowl.. they like to crack it open.. also keep millet spray I to his cage.. limit the feeding to morning and evening and in two week only in the evening. First feed is always early morning and for 5 week I will only feed three times a day. He should have plenty of seed and millet available to chew on.. if it’s first had feed then it will be very difficult as at this age they don’t accept hand feed easily.. good luck

Just got a cockatiel it isnt fully covered in feathers but must be around 1 month 2 weeks old how often should i feed it? And formula ml?
That means they are around 6 week old. It’s not ideal age for hand feeding as they resist more. You can start with 10 to 12ml and gradually increase to 15 to 18ml. Only two times a day and introduce seeds and millet. They will start eating soon as well.

And while feeding he asks for feed but then doesn't open mouth tho yesterday he did. Should i introduce seeds? And why will he be lazy when there it was all active but note that he is weak what should i do
If I can suggest, give it back and get 3w old as they are more adopted to hand feeding

Check the crop if the crop is full ,even after 3-4 hours then it's a sign of slow digestion you should consider the advice of a vet , or you can give them 2-3 drops of gripe water but again firstly ask it from a vet , mostly when the baby's crop is full or he's in fever they reject food
Definitely, you are not giving them warm food (35-37 degree)

@@johnfreeman1623 hey, at 60days cockatiel baby should be fully independent. No need to hand feed. Parents are also encouraging by not feeding him or just giving a little. Put some millet in breeding box if babies are still not flown out. Hope this would help.
