My husband taught me well. He said to only pay cash and only use a credit card if you have the money to pay the bill when it is due. We never had a car payment, a Home paid for in 11 years, and no debt. Having less is freeing. Never be a slave to banks.
Same with my husband if we can’t purchase twice for items we don’t purchase it ❤
Us too, we have been throwing extra at our mortgage since 202O … payoff date is September 1, 2024. We drive two older cars which we paid cash for. It takes a lot of discipline and ignore the Jones’s. Followed Ramsey’s Seven Baby Steps. (Took 84 months. )… btw, our forever home is in heaven. 🌻
Animal shelters would love your towels or sheets! They dont care about dingy!

Every time I get rid of old towels I take them and buy some kitty litter and food to take to the shelter. It keeps me from adopting every cat in the world. LOL.

Just a tip for others frugal❤ like me: I reuse old sheets for painting, other DIY projects or as a lightweight cover for plants during killing frosts. I also reserve and reuse kitchen towels and potholders for messy outside grilling or picnics, and old towels for cleaning my autos (old potholders are great for removing an ultra warm radiator cap) and/or for my dog’s bath…..also for wiping her down during snow, rain or drying her paws when she comes inside from the morning dew. All these can be kept in a bin in the garage or laundry room as needed. And when they’ve truly seen their last days, I toss them without guilt.
I do the same thing =) My mom always used my dads old white cotton tee shirts as dusting rags too. You can wash in hot water and bleach as needed.
You are also not putting a ton of stuff in our endless landfills!
ONE of the reasons that you are one of my FAV channels to watch is that you don’t go out and buy buy buy stuff constantly!

Great video. I agree with you and I'm doing the same thing. I love the oven mitts. My husband likes to cook and we have never found oven mitts to fit him. I will be picking up some of these. Can't wait to see your new home!

A great tip if you want to keep things uniform is to buy multiples. Things will break, get lost or whatever and those things won't be available at Target anymore, so an extra set or two tucked away can be helpful.

Keeping real plants alive isn't hard. There are however a few things you should follow. When the soil of your plant feels dry to the touch, take the pot to the sink and fully saturate the soil , let it drain fully in the sink , then return it to its place until it dries out again. I place my plants in a lot of indirect sunlight if possible but I also use grow light bulbs in my kitchen recessed lighting and in a few lamps. Plants don't need a lot of fertilizer in the winter but you can add a scoop of slow release fertilizer granules and not worry about it. Lastly, take pleasure in your plants and enjoy watching them grow and they will reward you.
Thank you for staying true to yourself. I’ve unsubscribed from so many channels that were constantly buying. I know those creators feel they have to keep things new and fresh but as a subscriber, I find it unattainable, exhausting, and just plain wasteful. I love an uncluttered cozy home.
28 years married who LOVES antiques, my house is decorated with the family antiques. I have on my bedroom wall the quilt that my 3rd great grandmother made. I would hang her picture but quite frankly her stern look scares me. I can tell the story of the item or person of everything in my house. My dishes are old restaurant ware. Much smaller in size but totally works with my vibe.
How fun is this shopping experience! Knowing that you will be moving into your dream home, achieving your goal running a marathon, oh my, you are truly blessed. Keep up the good work❤

Amy I am so excited for you as you prepare to move into your new house. I support your wisdom that less is more. Far too many TH-camrs get carried away with buying more and more decorative stuff for their homes and thrifting more than they have places to put the thrifted stuff. Rather than looking pleasing, it makes the house look cluttered.
If I could just say one thing, you look beautifully tanned and it is very attractive. However, I've been watching a 70 year old family member having cancer sores burnt and cut out of his skin, One was so large on the face, that a plastic surgeon was needed. This was caused by too much sun exposure when he was younger. Please do realize that any tan is dangerous and even if it doesn't result in skin cancer, it will eventually make you look older with more wrinkles. Please do be cautious.
I fully agree that the tan looks great, but over time will be regretted. My dermatologist says that no degree or tanning can be considered as healthy and most are risky. Do pay attention, Amy!

I'm still using the flatware that my husband and I got for our wedding... almost 35 years ago. Admittedly, we've lost pieces, so I have substituted with pieces from thrift stores. I was waiting until I saw some I liked before buying cause I didn't want to settle. I love what you found.... everything!

I have a very small kitchen and recently replaced our hodge podge dishes for all Corelle. Theyre affordable, durable, replaceable, slim for stacking. I do need new flatware too...RIP to all my Crate & Barrel cutlery from our wedding over a decade ago, that my boys have accidentally thrown away over the years! Can't wait to see how you put it all together!
Amy I am a TH-camr as well and I understand what you mean about buy buy buy. I am not that person, I definitely don't spend like other content creator do, I'm more like you are now. I am a thrifter cause I live saving a dollar and 90 percent of my home is thrifted or DIYed lol. I just have to say that I am so proud of you sis! Boy, did this video speak so near and dear to my heart and hit extremely close to home. My husband and I are in the process of purchasing a home (we are ~ fingers crossed ~ scheduled to close on August 2nd) and while I am currently in the throws of packing up stuff in our apartment in preparation for the upcoming move, I am also decluttering stuff that I know I no longer want or need and other than a new bathroom vanity cabinet | sink and 4 rolls of peel and stick wallpaper, I have not purchased anything new to decorate the house. I told my husband as well as my sister that my goal for this new house is to be very intentional with the items that I purchase and what and where I choose to hang on the walls. In the past I feel like I have been very quick to make decisions that I ultimately ended up regretting or I bought items that I saw linked in someone's TH-cam decorate with me type videos, and that I ended up not even truly wanting or even liking. And I wasted so much money on these items that just filled my heart with regret. Right now my goal is to simply get moved in and live in this new space for a little bit and make slow and well thought out | intentional decisions and not be super quick to just hang a bunch of random stuff on the walls.
You are on the right path, Laurie. I have a policy, that I never buy anything for my home, until I see the need....that is to fill an empty space or wall, or add a kitchen utensil that has a purpose, or hang curtains for privacy. I watch so many thrifting TH-camrs, who come home with crocks, pictures, dishes, baskets, pots of greenery, cutting boards, antique bits and pieces and then keep adding all the "stuff" to their homes. The result is rarely beautiful and to my eye just looks cluttered.

My husband and I recently bought a house and off the kitchen is a Keeping Room. I absolutely love having a fireplace right off of the kitchen. Can’t wait to see how you style it.

Love your intentional purchases! I have done the same as we have moved a lot and are now settled in our farmhouse. One tip for moving is to wash everything that goes in the kitchen and get it put away before your first night in the new house. It feels so good to have the kitchen ready for at least basic eating during the moving days 😊

Fun to purchase for a new home! I have the white version of those bath towels and have not found them to as absorbant as regular terry towels. I'm planning to replace them. I find white towels are the easiest to keep looking good because you can bleach them.
