You don't have to turn wallpaper engine fully off. Just go into WE's settings and change it so that it freezes your wallpaper when in a fullscreen application.
@twopack shaker You might have a point. Regardless, this works for every other game that has fullscreen. The fact that halo infinite doesn't have exclusive Fullscreen is atrocious.
@@eliavita There's borderless Fullscreen and exclusive Fullscreen. Exclusive Fullscreen pretty much focuses on the game and generally gets better performance. Also, if it's borderless, things like wallpaper engine won't stop running thus the performance hit.

just FYI, turning power management mode to prefer maximum performance means you'll let your gpu running with high core clock and mem clock even during idle on desktop, increasing power consumption and higher temperature, and probably reducing the life of your gpu faster. set it to adaptive and it works fine during gaming least for me. if you still want to use prefer maximum performance setting, go to nvidia manage 3d settings on program settings tab, and add the game you want specifically. and for max fps to set according your monitor refresh rate: if you use 60hz or 75hz monitor, just don't set max fps, because you will get screen tearing. hardware unboxed channel did a good explanation for this.

I think I found a solution. Although I averaged about 70fps, it was performing as if it’s 30fps which didn’t make sense. I noticed the temporary moment when I reached over 100fps the game performed smoothly, so I set the minimum fps to 120 (I have a 120hz monitor) as well as 120 maximum fps and things are now smooth. So it seems that you will get the best possible performance if you set the minimum and maximum to your monitors refresh rate.
Yeah, it’s very odd I’ve not noticed this with any other game. I feel like by default the game under performs unless you manually set a higher fps standard to get the game to properly operate. I followed troubleshooting steps from a few videos, updated GPU drivers, managed 3D settings in Nvidia control panel, tried window, turned off minimum FPS (most people said this makes a huge difference but did nothing for me), etc. Nothing worked except for raising the minimum FPS to 120. For those wondering, operating off a RTX 3060 and Ryzen 5 3600. Setting all other graphic settings to abnormally too low didn’t really help me before and all it did was decrease the graphics quality rather than improve performance.
I’m sure this will get lost in the comments, but thank you very much for this video! It improved my fps massively, to the point I now finally enjoy playing the game instead of being frustrated at my potato Pc. I can’t really justify spending money on upgrades right now, and I was just about to uninstall the game when I thought to myself “let’s see if there’s anything I can do to optimize it”. Turns out there was plenty of things I could have done, thank you so much for guiding me trough them!
I love that this video doesn't simply tell you to turn all settings down to low, and instead tells you where you can turn some settings up if you still want some good visual presentation in game! Good stuff

This was an amazing help! For what it's worth, I did notice crashing (3x games in a row) when changing my power setting from optimal to prefer maximum performance in the Nvidia control panel. When I reverted it back to optimal the crashing seemed to have gone away (no crashes in 6 games). Just a heads up for anyone seeing similar issues!
i guess this might be because your psu isnt powerful enough on maximum performance. for max performance your gpu will need more power of course. i had a similar issue in another game a while back and a moren powerful psu fixed it.

I'm still running a GTX 1050 Ti so my PC is taking a massive hit to FPS and input lag, but this video and the settings you changed has seem to make a good change to my gaming experience. I was running at 71% resolution scale, but now with these settings I can run 100% at a comfortable 60 FPS with no dips.
Texture Filtering aka Anisotropic Filtering should always be High/Ultra in every game as it has quite big impact on the textures but usually also has 0-1fps difference.

@@costcoadams Doubt it's true but maybe it's possible due to some sort of VRAM bottleneck or maybe because the engine handles the filtering not like most of other games/engines, but this setting basically only filters the textures so it's pure GPU and VRAM usage. It's almost like having Medium Resolution Textures vs High Resolution but less VRAM usage. I always make it max and never had any issues in any game.

Tried this in 2023 and can confirm that it still works. Don't know how but I changed just a few things and now I am getting 100+ fps RTX 3050 at high texture res and lowest resolution scale (I think it looks fine). Thanks man.
Thanks for this, this is the best compeitive setup ive seen, for the things you said (and some of my messing around) set to ultra with my 3080 taking screenshots (or clips) to compare and god the difference is nonexistent for anything other than fog (even pause can see big like filter change)

Great video man, I went from gettiing 100-150 with my gpu cranking to 180 steady less utilization lower temps and no loss of image quality. The only thing that was weird was the ram program, wouldn't let me set it to 0.50 but only 0.5000

This absolutely worked, thank you so much. the most drastic improvement was from updating my Radeon software and drivers per Radeon's Halo Infinite update as shown at 3:30 in your video. The other thing that worked was turning texture quality to ultra as you said. Thank you Panjno!
@@skolotaj Try the new AMD drivers for Infinite, that defo helped for me. And uninstalling the HD textures. You should be getting about 90-100fps depending on your CPU.
With the update my fps dropped from 37 capped to below 20 with the update (fx6100 cpu) but deleting the cache appears to be the solution, very useful video

So I did this for my pc and it increased a lot my setup 2-4090s i9-13009k 1Tbssd 5k power watt supply 128gb ram and water cooling. So my fps normally is 280fps on ultra max settings average now I’m getting 485fps on everything on low cool video and I recommend this for people who need it

Cleared the cache, enabled admin mode, did override upscale, removed high end textures, turned on Windows game mode, and enabled hardware accelerated GPU, now Halo won't load me into a match at all. I already undid everything, including reinstalling the game, still doesn't even run log enough for me to have a match before crashing. Edit: drivers needed to update, game runs fines now.

it literally makes no sense to me because my specs are way above the specs required and my vram is not occupied at all but still I have very low FPS and I am able to play forza horizon 5 on max settings going 440km/h. Is it because of the beta? Because I have no idea what else it could be.

I've found a lot of conflicting info on G-Sync in Halo infinite. Does it offer any sort of benefit? I'm running a 3080ti and G-sync compatible monitor.
I get 220+ on every map with a 10700k, 2080ti, and 4400cl16 ram, at 1080- low (textures set to ultra). If I drop my render resolution to 71% I'm hitting 270-280 on some maps. Ram speed makes a huge difference at 1080p low. I run 4400 16-16-16-34.
Small tip but anyone running steam wallpaper engine, turn it off before booting into halo my frames went from 40 to about 55 it helped a good amount.

I always leave it on maximum performance and I Idol at around 35 to 40 degrees C

Went from a stuttering 50-55fps to a very smooth 100fps on a Ryzen 3600 and 5700xt by doing this. Thanks very much.
i have too a 5700XT. Thre is some problem in this game is not possible that i get 80 fps with all LOW and 70 with all HIGH.

All I did was uninstall the textures and update the driver for my 5700 and I went from 85 up to a stable 150.

I'm glad I found your video, such a great guide, boosting the FPS of mine currently.
Cleared the cache, enabled admin mode, did override upscale, removed high end textures, turned on Windows game mode, and enabled hardware accelerated GPU, now Halo won't load me into a match at all. I already undid everything, including reinstalling the game, still doesn't even run log enough for me to have a match before crashing.
Edit: drivers needed to update, game runs fines now.
thanks man for helping me with this i was running 25 fps at 40 percent res scale and it was awful thanks man fixed most of my problems in halo infinite.

Low latency mode in Nvidia control panel switched on made a HUUUGE impact on its own. I'm getting much less micro stutters!

@@LuisSuarez-zw3bf might just be a bug or something. try using the dropdown again...if that doesn't work just set the max framerate to whatever your monitors refresh rate is

Can you do a new Nvidia settings video? The settings you picked in this video are different from your Nvidia guide and Nvidia has new features in the control panel...

8:53 Put simulation quality on ultra as it only affects your CPU and is important to keep the game synched up with the server. This info comes straight from a 343 dev

Excellent video, helpful tips and plenty of options for improving performance in different areas. I have a question though. About the ISLC application you recommended, do you need to keep it running minimized in the background for it to actively help improve performance or can you just run it once before any time you start a game?

it literally makes no sense to me because my specs are way above the specs required and my vram is not occupied at all but still I have very low FPS and I am able to play forza horizon 5 on max settings going 440km/h. Is it because of the beta? Because I have no idea what else it could be.

I've found a lot of conflicting info on G-Sync in Halo infinite. Does it offer any sort of benefit?

By far the best tutorial I’ve seen!
I get 220+ on every map with a 10700k, 2080ti, and 4400cl16 ram, at 1080- low (textures set to ultra).
If I drop my render resolution to 71% I'm hitting 270-280 on some maps.
Ram speed makes a huge difference at 1080p low. I run 4400 16-16-16-34.
