    We've had incredible experience with AC26 silicon on M2max (32gb shared memory MBP). Instant R/W time, zero lag on pan/zoom on any project size, really fast open times and zero save time. No more beachballing. Super fast 3D - couldn't be happier. Easily 2x faster than our 10core MacPros with 32gb ram. Works especially well with schedules, BEM (EcoDesigner), hourly window shade mapping, etc. Stuff that used to take tens of minutes is now done in seconds.

      dear AR Thompson your answer is honey for me :))) we're trying to switch to mac after 30 years of windows and it's not easy... For Archicad ok, everything should work fine, even better. The problem is the other technical software, such as the various cad dwg, quantity takeoff software etc etc.

      Is this your personal experience? What are the type of drawings you produce? In our architectural firm we're seeing the exact opposite with the combination of AC 26 ARM and an M1 mac studio.

    Off topic but as much as I love ArchiCAD and have used it for almost 10 years now, I still find it flabbergasting that it took them 26 years and we still haven't got lintels, curved curtain walls and window/door closures in sections. Not to mention several other missing features.

      I use the 4Dlibrary add-on. It has everything you’re looking for and more

      @@DavidTomic I've been using CITools for some of the applications. I wanted to give 4Dlibrary a try but their website seems to be down.

    It's really strange to read positive comments about the combination between AC 26ARM and the M1 mac . We bought a few mac studio M1 Ultra's with 128gb ram and are seeing alot of lag, beachballing,... when drawing, copying furniture, switching between views etc...
    It just isn't 'snappy'. Loading, exporting times etc. are really fast, but AC 26 ARM just doesn't run smooth with mundane tasks and that's very frustrating.
    A serious downer considering we have all maxed out machines which aren't cheap.
    My advice would be to hold on to a non M chip mac as long as possible till AC ARM is better optimised.
    The shitty part is, that the smoothness fades away very very fast, so even basic drawings are a pain in the *ss after af few hours of working.
    FYI: we're a architectural firm with 14 employees, using 5x M1's an 9x I9 2019 Imac's.

      I agree with 100% of what you say. Macbook Pro M2Max with 64Gb Ram used with Archicad Apple Silicon: big problems in performance an daily use...
      Why Graphisoft is so slow in optimizing your software for M chips? Too slow for workers and professionals!
      I'm thinking to send back my macbook and continuing to work with my "old" HPZ4.

    And we still no have ray tracing with apple computers, especially for Twinmotion. And also revit for Mac 😢

      I look forward to Twinmotion's path tracing ... I believe that 2023 with the new version of Twinmotion you can have something. It doesn't make sense to upgrade and invest for Twinmotion on Intel Mac, otherwise it must eliminate support for Apple and distribute a version only for Windows .!

      why even bother with mac for 3d design, render etc? just get the proper tools and do the job.

    • @VictorCosmin
      @VictorCosmin ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you truly need ray tracing and photorealistic renders, why not just use a Mac for drafting and design, and another separate machine just as a render node? This way you don't be boggled down whilst your machine is rendering and you can continue working on the same project, or another project in the meantime.

    When exporting PDF, Archicad is switching between layout pages. I guess the ARM version is imporving the response time of switching between windows, and the writing the disk is instant. Please retest this when formal version release. Thank you.

      ArchiCAD is rendering with CineRender, so it isn't a problem with ArchiCAD, but with the external program. Also the M1 doesn't have a dedicated graphics card, so the results won't change for much anyway

    At 1:05 you say the Apple Silicon is 1.8x faster. Faster than what? What kind of Intel machine are you comparing to here?
    A Windows PC that costs $6000 AUD will *eviscerate* the Mac Studio M1 Ultra! Compare machines of similar cost to get a true sense of Intel vs M1.

    • @DavidTomic
      @DavidTomic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Check the last video I made which compared an old pc to the Mac. This was a follow up video

    • @DerekDavis213
      @DerekDavis213 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DavidTomic Ok I'll check that video.
      But why compare an 'old pc' to a recent *6000* *dollar* Mac? That's an unfair comparison.
      How about PC with monster RTX 4090 card. That would be cheaper than the Mac Studio, and when running Blender or Maya, would have the Mac look like a toy. It's like comparing a BMW to a bicycle!
      Architects and other professionals want the BMW, right? LOL
