Great video! I've been using a handful of iSpindels with pretty good results. The calibration really is tedious, but it was a good price and since moving from beersmith to brewfather, seeing the data is way easier. If you have a spindel, give GravityMon a look. It's much better than the stock firmware.
Love the cost justification! I’ve broke so many hydrometers (easily over 10) where I just went with the easydens! Haven’t broke that yet so I’ve already saved money! Great video as always!
Ha you got me with the break ten and it is paid for. I actually keep two glass ones around just because I have broken so many and been left without one. Though they both read differently which is not a ton of fun. Rapt pill is looking pretty good after your comparison. Cheers
When calibrated I read the instructions as that it’s best to be gentle when opening/charging the Ispindel. Since the calibration can be off if it’s moved out of position in the petling.
For sure, I've just put a little mark so you can tell the position of the cap, but I guess it would make sense to even mark the orientation of the device in the capsule. For the most part, I just use them to see when they hit terminal gravity, even if that gravity isn't perfectly accurate. Cheers!
Soldering the iSpindel yourself has an extra wrinkle, which is leaded solder. I personally would really not want to use leaded solder for obvious reasons, but lead free solder is a pain to work with. Granted who knows if ebay sellers are using lead-free either, but hopefully they are and they can deal with it.
I'd hope it is lead free. Especially since the cap kind of sucks on it (mine cracked pretty quick although probably due to putting it on too tight). Normally it wouldn't hit the beer, but you never know. Cheers!
The pill gets set up with your wifi and then you can log into the Rapt web app too see the status anywhere you have a connection. I believe the Bluetooth was designed to possibly work with other rapt items like the fermentation chamber or temp controller. Cheers!
Lot's of misinformation in this video. The battery in the Rapt is not "custom". It is an off the shelf 18650. Just like most iSpindels. "The more sugars in your beer [sic] the thicker it is, the more viscous it is." Hydrometers measure the density of a fluid, not its viscosity.

I'm a bit late on this, but great tips. I'll try to have a look at GravityMon when I have a chance. Cheers!

An Easy Dens might be in my future, but I think a ways off. They look great though! Cheers!

Pretty much the same here, a few glass ones sticking around just in case, but liking these digital ones. Cheers!
I wasn't even remotely interested...and now I want one....gee thanks man....
Stay safe...
No problem, anything to help you spend more money! Cheers!
Love this breakdown, i've always looked at the price and thought no thanks but you brought up some good points here to make me consider getting one!
Definitely kind of pricey, but I like them. Not quite an Easy Dens though... Cheers!
Glad you are back. Keep it up my friend.
Pro tip: if you ever need to replace the battery, any vape shop should have them. They're "18650" batteries
Great video btw! As usual
Awesome, good to know! Cheers!

Great overview, alot of information! FYI your timestamps are broken.
Ah crap. Posted too soon. Thanks for the reminder!! 👊🍻
In brewfather you can turn off the battery power line on the graph using the check boxes after clicking the devices button in your batch view
Awesome, thanks! Cheers!
Still waiting on my RAPT Pill to show up in the mail!
Damn! If from Ali express could be a few months... Cheers and good luck!

Does the DIY ispindel fit into the hole of a glass carboy..
No it doesn't. I think the Tilt is the only one that does that (but I haven't verified).
Hi, can the pill bluetooth talk to my laptop which in conjunction talk to the
interweb so i can see whats going on online on my phone? cheers

Cute dog
He's really good at tagging his territory (which currently is all our couches, beds and floors). Cheers!
@@PartyTimeBrewing I know that feeling. He'll learn
First? Cheers 🍺🍺🍺 Party Time!

Thanks for the info, I'll take a look at the video within the next days and throw in some corrections. Cheers!
I've probably broken 10 glass hydrometers lol
Sometimes it just feels good to break one. Even better when you can do the double smash of the hydrometer with the glass cylinder. Cheers!
