Love, love, LOVE the mechanics chosen. The enemies are from damn near every early SMB games, level designs are fantastic, and the music stolen from other games and tweaked into what they are; Phenomenal. Kudos to the creator.
I've always wanted a sequel to this game. I was hoping 64 would be a 3d version of this but I was miserably disappointed. 64 was still great in it's own right.
The only part of Yoshi Island that was good was when baby bowser grows into a 100 foot giant and even then they stole that idea from that stupid movie Honey I Blew Up the Kid.

I want to play this *because* it's not crazy over-the-top. Ridiculously difficult SMW ROM hacks are the vast majority of the hacks, and usually don't pay any attention to fine details visually. There's less than 10 well-balanced hacks like this on all the internet, and this one is one of a kind when it comes to how much extra detail went into the game to make it even better than the original Mario World.
These are the kind of worlds I imagined when I played this game as a little kid. So many good memories of beating a castle and then moving on to another world.

So no, it is because the sound chip was just designed at the perfect time to be a part of the SNES. At the time Nintendo had a fantastic reputation and a great repertoire with several popular hardware companies, so striking a deal and getting a good price on Sony's new sound chip wasn't too hard. Also, even Sony wasn't expecting the chip to be quite so affordable or finalized so fast.

Actually, the original _Super Mario World_ video game came out in the *_early 1990's_* and *_NOT_* the late 1980's: 1990 (Japan), 1991 (North America) and 1992 (Europe). *_Figurative HELL,_* even *_Super Mario Bros. 3_* didn't come out until *_*1990*_* in most parts of the world (only in Japan did it come out in the late 1980's)!
Damn the background is def what was missing from the original super mario world,it brings more of the world to life,as well as adding more design to these levels overall ^_^
This is the reason SMW will always be my favorite Mario because there’s so many possibilities to what you can do with the worlds and levels. When the first Mario Maker was announced in development that’s what I thought it was going to be, a game centered around SMW creating worlds and levels, maybe someday...

Mario Maker is a level editor. Great in it's own right but if you want to create something truly amazing you'll have to get more expansive than that.
