What's Joe's views on the grey area of paying for girls on dates? If you're actively dating it can cost a small fortune. If the girl gives out the vibe she has no intention of paying, that usually doesn't sit right with me. If a girl genuinely offers, I feel more at ease covering the bill. Once I've dated the girl a few times, I've no problem with paying once we're both invested, I've had the feeling 'some' girls just go into first dates for a laugh and to get a freebie... How do you both handle the awkwardness of paying, especially on the first date?

+KEV PRIVATE Yeah, obviously you look like a tight ass if you're going in and making sure everything is straight down the middle 50/50. I tend to avoid the awkwardness mostly by going out with girls who I know will offer to pay their way. You can usually sense it from early on if the girl is the kind that's used to going out and having everything paid for by guys, mostly by how she talks I find. If there's more than one thing to pay for I'll usually offer to pay for the more expensive of the two, provided the difference isn't massive. E.g. I'll say "Do you wanna grab the food and I'll get tickets?" if at the cinema or something like that. If we're eating out I'll just take a relaxed approach to it. When the bill comes I'll just be like "what do you have in cash?" then say it's £25 for a light lunch I'll take a tenner off her (if she has that in cash) and pay on my card. She'll offer the remaining £2.50 in coins and I'll refuse it nonchalantly, because it's not something I'm overly concerned about but also I'm not just a timid fuck who's going to be pressured into paying by awkwardness and I have no issue in asking her to pay something. I'm not fussed for making it exactly 50/50, I'm more bothered about the dynamic and having her know she is expected to contribute in some way. If you're light-hearted about it then I think you can avoid any awkwardness.
