FYI German tank optics are rangeable, you can range the gun just as a rifle. Values above the triangle are for AT rounds, while those below for MG34 and HEAT
I wish they made it more realistic, because there is no way an APCR round from an 88mm wouldn't penetrate even the front armor of a sherman at such close ranges... It seems like they are going for unrealistic balance rather than full on realism, which sucks. Has Post Scriptum been improved or degraded in terms of realism since it was bought by the Squad devs? I sure hope it maintained the good old full-on-realism style instead of becoming some arcady Squad-like game. Thanks for the video. By the way, would love to play with you! That's true but you can not blame them, they have to get used to the tank mechanics. It's just not like squad tank gameplay and I noticed that a lot of squad players are currently playing or trying Squad 44 :)
dass Shermans nicht in einem Schuss in die Seite oder durch die Frontplatte sterben ist lachhaft, es war schmerzhaft anzusehen wie der Jumbo einfach mal so mehrere Schüsse in die Seite wegsteckt
Squad 44 vastly exaggerates what armour angle can bounce a shell. Sherman side armour at 30 degrees bouncing the 88mm L71? Absolute nonsense. Try 80 degrees and maybe.
Well, the issue is, that at high impact angle armor gets perforated but the round wouldn't actually enter the vehicle. You just get some spalling that might injure the crew or kill them, or maybe damage ammuniton. Then again, I don't understand why the game needs some repair mechanic like Battlefield. You can not fix a broken gun or engine on the battlefield, so why bother? Still, in RL, you would shoot the target until you are sure it's destroyed, meaning the crew bails or it starts burning.
@@Kuschel_K The angle of the shot in the video wasn't a high angle... it was closer to being straight side on than it was angled. Maybe 30 degrees at most, and the game made it bounce off... that just doesn't happen.

Doesn't this game like to claim to have 'realistic' gunnery and penetration etc? No way does a Pershing, or any other Allied tank for that matter, survive multiple 88/L71 rounds at point blank range; that's a joke.
Realistic penetration and damage is exactly that. Tanks don’t die in one shot like in WT unless you hit the ammo or kill the crew, which you have to be either smart or lucky to do.
@@ronaldmcreagann6343 Sure, those are worthy considerations, but I would contend that a long 88mm with a bursting charge is very different from a solid shot. I find it difficult not to believe if it's into the fighting compartment just about anywhere, it's making a mess and almost certainly a mission kill if not a literal kill/incapacitation of the crew. Thanks for the reply, I always appreciate thoughtful discussion. Cheers
@@steeltrap3800 the bursting charge does little in the way of improving damage really. Tests have shown the change from APHE and its solid shot equivalent round type (APCBC, APBC, APC, ect) barely changed anything, hence why the British historically stuck with pure solid shot for tanks. As for it taking so many rounds, remember he shot the same spot a bunch. If he spread those shots about more, or aimed specifically for vital locations like ammo (which is pretty easy for the Pershing, it has a rack on the right side of its turret if your looking at it or the hull floor), it’d have been completely knocked out. A few rounds to the front of the hull might’ve punched through the engine too if he aimed appropriately.
The bullet drop also seems a bit exaggerated for a 88/L71 when he was shooting at a distance. At the distance he was shooting the round would almost go flat. At a distance of several kilometers, sure, it happens. But at that distance the drop being so big? No way.
