Thanks Douglas for your Selmer Research. I always knew my 88xxx VI alto was a long bow but never noticed the two tildes. I love how it plays and will never part with it. Great to know more of the history behind these classic intstruments
Thank you for this! This confirmed my feeling that there were medium bow revisions at the end of production!
Quick reference:* 1:58 Short bow (55-60): (no reg. mark) "Mo"* 2:21 Short bow (60-75): "(R)" "Mo"* 2:28 Medium bow var 1 (75-87): "o(R)o" "Mo"* 2:38 Long bow (87-136): "~(R)~" "M"* 2:56 Medium bow var 2 (136-201): "~(R~)~" "M"* 3:13 Medium bow var 3 (201+): "(R)" "M."
Great explaination of the bow variations of the MK6.
Thank you for your Informations! What about Tenor Saxes? Are there any Variations?
This is exactly the kind of hyper-specific, nerd content I'm into.
And what practical differences, if any, did the varying combinations confer on the horn and how it played?
So informative & helpful. Thanks.
Thanks!
217 MK VI alto and I can confirm just the R no dots, and the Serial reads M. 217
