That kid looks so proud of himself! That's fantastic!
He is so adorable!!
This is awesome. Thank you so much! My son had no trouble with the "final r" [letter, ladder, fever] after seeing your tutorial. I actually just sent him to the bathroom to get a floss pick so we can try the other "r" method.
4:46 THE BOY'S FACE WHEN HE GOT TO KEEP THE LOLLIPOP! HEHEHE
this is the best English lesson i have ever come across. why people make difficult something that can be so simple?
Where was this when I was young
now
Yeah😓
Unfortunately I’m 28 now
You gotta be kidding I'm 30 and learning this stuff now and my prounancion has improved a lot
The age is not an excuse get you ass up and learn if you want...
I so appreciate your videos! Thank you.
I don't know why I'm practicing my "r" while watching this; I don't have speech problems. Lol
I'm Japanese. R sound is one of the most difficult sounds for me. Is it difficult for native speakers too??
My daughter is American-born, twelve years old and still has lots of trouble with it.
Hello @ExpensiveDancingPoteto. If you are a native Japanese speaker, the /r/ will be difficult for you because it's not a sound in your language repertoire. For the majority of native English speakers, the /r/ sound comes naturally in our sound development. Those who have issue with the sound are often referred to Speech therapy to correct it.
Great ideas! I will be using them in therapy.
2:21 aww so cute
Speech is very fun 💕💕
I've Been In Speech Therapy For 5 Years And I Still Don't Know How To Say R. I Have The Worst Teacher.
Thank you so much! This will help my son so much!! ❤
Thank you so much
I love getting help with my speech!!!
Wow! This is amazing :)
Great video! Thanks for sharing :)
Wow! Wonderful ! I can’t wait to practice on my almost 4 year old !!
Did the kid use to not know how to Pronounce the "R" Sound ? If he didnt then you taught him well. I was in Speech class for 7 Years and still cant pronounce The "R" by its self or "ER" sound or the "R" in the middle of words like Hard. I can only pronounce R's in the beginning of words. It sounds like hawd when i say it lmao. People still make fun of me for it and im 15
That's her son...
Hey at less you didn’t say can you hump(I meant to say help) to your crush
Ron, that's my son Brooklyn. He doesn't have any speech or language deficits but he is eager to be in my videos and help model things. Thanks so much for watching! :)
Nice video. These tips are amazing.
I can pronounce the r when im talkin with my self but when im talking to people i freak out and all sort of sounds start to come out lmao
Very useful video , thanks
Love it
how would you help say the R sound with other sounds? It is rare that R is pronounced in isolation, it usually combines with a vowel. The resulting sound is very different from the isolated R sound (like -or -ar)... Thank you.
You're absolutely right! This video just shows some ways to elicit an R in isolation for a student just starting therapy. As soon as I can elicit an accurate R in isolation I like to move to syllables and word level practice. If a child is really struggling with practice in isolation, sometimes starting with syllables can actually be helpful. In fact, the workbook "I Can Say the R Sound" has activities for using coarticulation to to assist in production of vocalic R (or, ire, ar, etc.) in 2-word phrases. I plan to make another video on R in the future to talk more about word, sentence, and connected speech practice!
What kind of facilitation would this be considered? Tactile prompting?
When I write session notes I call it a tactile cue!
Brooklyn is Great Model😍
Does anyone know a drill that could be used with this? Like a long sentence that has all these r sounding words in it?
Hi, this is super useful. Could I ask for an example of when a retroflex /r/ is used? Is it common? I can't think of any words when I make a retroflex /r/! Thanks
Excellent
Very helpful techniques :) Thanks a lot for sharing this
I wish I would of solved this problem as a kid now as a adult i feel like a jackass
