- Hebden Bridge is a small market town situated in West Yorkshire between Manchester and Leeds. This is a 4K Walk around the town.

So we decided to head for Hebden Bridge after watching a really fantastic video by one of our favourite TH-camrs Travel Crush. After seeing the beauty of Hebden Bridge in her video we just had to come and film a 4K walk around this historic market town.
Luckily for us when we arrived there was a market happening too so you get the bonus of having a nosey round the market stalls as well! The Hebden Bridge Market Days are really popular, to the point that they've been extended to more days per week now too!
We begin our Hebden Bridge tour in St Georges Square at the huge sundial in the centre of this square, which is surrounded on all sides by places to eat and drink, whether it's a cafe, restaurant, pub or market stall.
Hebden Bridge is now most notable for it's tourism, it's independent shops and businesses, it's creativity and the artists and creatives living there, and it's popularity with walkers, hikers and people spending the day there.
It's also famously the lesbian capital of the UK with a sizeable population of gay and lesbian people in the town so it's definitely an LGBTQ friendly town here in Hebden Bridge West Yorkshire.
Ed Sheeran grew up in Hebden Bridge too, just up the road in a house on a hill (on Birchcliffe Road to be exact up a very steep hill!)
Comedian Jon Richardson (of 8 out of 10 Cats fame) lives Hebden Bridge with his wife Lucy Beaumont
Hebden Bridge lies close to the Pennine Way and Hardcastle Crags and is popular for outdoor pursuits such as walking, climbing and cycling. It lies on the Rochdale Canal - a through route across the Pennines.
Our Hebden Bridge town walk continues as we head around the market, back across St Georges Square, along Bridge Gate and down onto New Road.
From New Road we can see across to Hebden Trades club, a fantastic live music venue. Next to that is the Little Theatre and behind that is Rochdale Canal.
As we come along New Road opposite the park we take a left onto Crown Street and down to Lees Yard where the market is happening.
Next up on our Hebden Bridge visit is a walk over to the Town Hall on St Georges Street, and then round to Old Gate and the old bridge over the river where our tour ends.
I really hope you enjoy this 4K Walk and that it inspires you to come here for a visit, to check out the fantastic independent shops and businesses, the great market, the fantastic shopping, the live music, canal, parks, cinema and more! It really is a fantastic place and we'll be back soon to film another walk through the town.

Have to say I love your walking tours I am disabled so I don't get to get out too much so this is wonderful. Also I much prefer the walks without the music it makes them so much more immersive.
I agree Nina! I hope to continue with natural sounds from now on as it's easier for me and is most popular with most people
So happy you like my channel that's made my day!
Me too I am disabled and have had a lot of watching walks on youtube
Thank you for this, will be staying here this week!

Thank you, I will
Oh what a wonderful place.Thank you for sharing !
Our pleasure!
Lovely video. Enjoyed the older buildings & bridges with info. Hope you got a back massage at the end of your day. The market looked inviting, our local one is mainly vegetables, one spice, organic honey & baked goods. I would be in pie heaven. Thank you for your video.
I love organic honey Iris
Have you tried it?
@@GimbalWalkTV yes. My husband used to suffer badly from hayfever. I finally sourced local organic honey & nagged the poor man to have at least a teaspoon of this honey per day. Next season no hayfever, nor years after. Then he said it was rubbish & stopped taking it. Haha had the worse hayfever in years. Lesson learned. I love the different flavours from different areas too. Do you like honey?
Looks Beautiful
Lovely. Beautiful day for a walk. Watching from Canada
Welcome!
I’ve never been to Canada - would love to though!
They got across the river before St Georges's bridge was built by the ORIGINAL Hebden Bridge, opposite The White Swan pub. It connected Heptonstall (up the Buttress) to the main packhorse route to Halifax, they would weave their own cloth then take it to the Piece Hall in Halifax to sell. I used to live here in the 70s and 80s, and you are absolutely right, it's impossible to park anywhere.
Yeah parking is a bit of a mare isnt it!
Thanks for the info - the trip to Piece Hall must have taken them ages!
I was there yesterday, great little place
Nice video!
Thanks! Really appreciated!
Loved your walk around Hebden Bridge...Looks like a lovely place to visit, I think I've already mentioned it before in one your other videos....a lot better without the background music...Keep up the good work.

Well said John!
Thanks for this beautiful video walk of HB-. I was just there last week! Very lovely town 🥰. If you had covered Market Street and the Picturehouse it would have been even better 🙂.
Yes I realised when I got back i'd forgotten a chunk of it - so going back to do a more indepth one soon as the sunshine is out again!
A couple of great videos again.
I may have missed it but perhaps you should mention that "gate" isn't an opening in a wall but Norse for road, Bridge Gate, and in Huddersfield North, South and West Gate all roads.
Yorkshire folk know this but it might stop foreigners getting confused.
Ah thank you - didn't know that!
This is why I love this community! Everyone's so helpful and knowledgable thanks Mike!!
Thanks, a really enjoyable video. I hadn't realised how lovely Hebden Bridge is (mind you, I've only lived here 30 years)
Such a really lovely place Howard!
Great vid as always.
I'm off work Thursday 23rd, gonna take the bus up there.
Any recommendations for a nice pub lunch?
Too many to mention really!
I’d head for the square though or down by the riverside 👍
Great video! One of our favourite places!
Mine too!
Had a great holiday there in the 1980's , it was the location for many of the Hovis bread commercials and some of the side streets would be closed on Mondays to allow locals to hang laundry across them.
I remember calling the local cinema to find out what time the movie Star trek would start and owner replied " what time can you get here?" Where else would you get that kinda service ?😄
Ha ha amazing!!
Spent 4nights at the White lion in June this year .thoroughly enjoyed it walks by the canal.great restraunts and really friendly people.
Definitely! Lovely place!
Went to Hebden a few weeks ago, but it was very very busy and all the parking was full. We didn't stay and drove over the hill to Haworth instead.
Haworth is stunning too isn't it! I love it there!
My partner and I are going to Hebden Bridge tomorrow - this is why I've had a look on here. I'm subscribed to you and have been for a while. I've seen quite a few of your video's now. We like to visit places, especially at the weekend. We only have to travel from Manchester so I don't know why we've never been here before.
Gave a great one - it's a lovely place!

Good question - I think it's changed so it's on more days but I can't remember what days it is
i live 10 mins on a train from here its a lovely little place to go for a afternoon out
Definitely! Id' be there all the time if I lived close by!
Just 1 error otherwise very good. At the beginning its not a sundial but a fusion needle
Hebden was known for making fusion trousers(cordurouy)
Ah! Thank you!
I’d not heard of a fusion needle before!
@@GimbalWalkTV Its a Fustian Knife. Fustian is the cloth woven in this valley. The knife points towards Nutclough Mill, once famous for producing Fustian. I enjoyed this walk round one of my local Towns.
I didn't get to the town, but a friend with a motorcycle took me to a biker's meet just outside of it. I think it was called Devil's Bridge.
Wasnt Hebden bridge in a documentary once on tv?
There's a film. Shed your tears and walk away. It's the darker side of a small town..
Beautful place ,not a body to write home about lol but at least he was polite and friendly ,
True 🤣
🥰💕💕💕💕🥰
Good video but would of been better if you shown the long boats on the canal.
Next time for sure!
What a gay day❤
If it's full of independent shops then I think it would be pretty expensive to buy almost anything.
Possibly!
@@GimbalWalkTV lovely town though
How on earth can you possibly do a tour of Hebden bridge , and miss out the beautiful canal ? Disappointing!
Apologies - will get it next time!
Hebden is such a tolerant lovely place. I feel the town should be looking at housing some of the refugees crossing the channel. The town I feel will welcome these people unlike other bigoted places.
How about no haha.
@@madmanjoe1002 Why??? Hebden is a perfect place for those struggling. Those people crossing the channel shouldn't be in all the cities, Hebden is a tolerant place and is perfect.
Not a chance but I know you're taking the piss.
@@forsakingfear3652 Why am I??? Hebden prides itself on kindness and tolerance.
I really like Hebden Bridge, but it looked so purely anglo-saxon in your video, or maybe you picked the wrong day for that.
It's very Liberal unjugemental place where everyone is welcome. Very special place for West yorkshire. I love it.
You do realise the country is still 82% white don't you.
You do realise the country was 99% white at the end of the second world war, therefore in less than 100 years vile governments have brought in uncontrolled immigration.
So I ask you, why can't the original white indigenous population have areas that represent their own values and history without someone like you basically calling the place too white. Again I'll remind you that this is a white country.
Missed the canal and the park but really nice to watch on a market day.
Thank you - I'm heading back soon so will get those in the next one
