Nah, I’ve arched too many of his vids - I now realise he is a self-help hoax just like the rest of them.. the Sams, the Jordans, the Shapiros, the Murrays, the Yuvals, the rest.. the two people who are still walking a thin line of some sort of non-self-help and more knowledge-oriented conversations are Lex Friedman and Bret Weinstein.. but they are also heavily leaning to self-help stuff too.

@@thegoodthebadandtheugly579 Sam Harris is a philosopher(popular) he talks about ethics so that might be why he sounds like self help the meditation & spiritual might be jordan Peterson is a psychologist he does help people professionally & if your gonna get help of anyone jordan seems like a good candidate Ben shapiro & Douglas Murray to a lesser extent are political thinkers they talk ethics too but I don't think it's self help because it's mostly criticism to the left so unless your a Liberal there's not much to change I don't hear them give advice for conservatives much & if they do it's in relation to historical events I don't know what your talking about with yuval noah harari he's a historian who talks about the future & where we are now he tells us some things we should know but I don't understand how you figure he's self help bret has some ideas about how we should live but I'd still not call it self help & lex is a interviewer he definitely has ideas for himself but similar to Harris & the rest somewhat I'd say its more ethics he speaks about how to enjoy life
I'd like to know what you think self help is & I'd say all I've heard you name is popular intellectuals which is no reason to discard what they say as self help if that's even a bad thing you should definitely not be dogmatic but even if generally popular intellectuals aren't the most insightful(which I'm not saying) they still might have something of value to say

@@lukecockburn1140 none of these people are intellectuals in the true sense of that word. But they would like you to think that, and obviously you’ve fallen to believe that. They are just Entertainers.. that’s all. I meant “self help” in a derogatory way above btw. All they want to do is just get clicks on TH-cam so they can cash those in. Let’s not put them on a pedestal which they don’t belong to, nor do they deserve it. None of them have come up with one new idea. If you are well educated you will realise they just tell you about ideas that already exist.

    • @lukecockburn1140

@@thegoodthebadandtheugly579 there public intellectuals at least besides lex & I didn't put anyone on a pedastool besides jordan I just named how I see there roles & there's nothing wrong with relaying other people's ideas it's a skill education is needed & I'd say they've come out with new ideas maybe some unoriginal but they've still produced them & some have released alot of scientific papers & all besides 2 books so saying they've not come up with ideas is not true even if there not valuable

@@lukecockburn1140 sorry, I can see you’ve never gone to university or if you have - you haven’t learnt much out of that process.. you don’t understand some basic principles about what constitutes “new knowledge”. Writing a book - even if it is sold at high numbers afterwards - has nothing to do with being an intellectual and having come up or found new knowledge. Repeating what others have said before you but in another narrative does not constitute new knowledge. I can go on and go on but I doubt there’s any purpose to my efforts here. You’re obviously dogmatic and your dogma is your kneeling to the false idols that are these people.. funny also how you single out certain people out of the bunch 😀 I can see based only on how recently they’ve become ‘famous’ 😂 nothing to do with merit or knowledge from what I can see here..

I think atheists realize religion offers community, but since it's not a community that they are comfortable in, they have to think about how to generate that. Nothing wrong with that.

The music comment from Eric made me non-ironically think of the OK BOOMER meme. Personally I'd rather shove a drilldo (google it) in my ears than listen to mainstream modern music, however sooo many people are into niche musical communities now, so I'm surprised he didn't mention that. Anyway, this was mature, handled disagreements well. TOUR IN ENGLAND. HAIL THE MINIMALISTS

The canvas paints itself. The canvas is the dogma or set of dogmas/axioms/postulates from which all logical conclusions follow. Everyone has dogmas. Try not to have the dogmas "intelligibility" or "meaning". Perhaps this is not what Eric means by "the canvas paints itself".
