Jessica Whitehead I string popcorn for my tree every year. If you pop it the night before it is very easy to string it doesn’t break up. Try it my Mom told me this little trick. She used to make my popcorn garland every year until she passed. Great idea!!!
Wow! Looking back at your older videos seeing you pregnant for Benjamin and seeing the little man now makes me realize just how much time has passed by. Hey, great ideas for winter time and feed our wildlife. I will definitely try some of these. Thanks so much for sharing
I made a tree for my daughter when she was three. It was all edible and handmade decorations. Popcorn garlands and cranberry garlands and colored paper chains that my daughter helped with. Also made gingerbread man which we're sprayed with lacquer so tgey lasted for years. Also hung cookies in shapes of bells and paper snowflakes made together. This was a second tree in the playroom for kids to enjoy.
My late in laws had a cabin on the river. After Christmas each year they would collect a few trees from family and friends. They would place them in the water on one side of the deck beside the boathouse to encourage fish to stay there. It made it easier to catch fish there. Your idea is so much nicer!!!!
I´m sure going to do this, is not snowing here but birds will love feeders like that and seem so cheerful and easy, just keeps growing on me the idea of doing that not only in winter time.
So sweet..the most well fed spoiled birds in the neighborhood!!!!! I have done this with my children, it makes them mindful of how to take care of wild life. Thank You, for sharing your ideas!!!
This is wonderful, Laura! Trees like that provide much-needed shelter to smaller birds in the winter months. And, added bonus: you can break it down in the spring and use the pieces to mulch your garden! Absolutely nothing goes to waste!
Love that you have this. With Covid going on I'm thinking to have the kids make a bunch of these and surprise family with decorated trees outdoors and a bird feeder too ; ) gotta spread the joy this year!
This was so beautiful! It really inspired me to make one. It was fun to create, looked good and the birds and squirrels loved it! Thank you for sharing such a great idea!
I love this project because I love to attract birds to my yard. They're so peaceful to watch... And you can't beat those diy projects and the Benjamin belly! Awesome!
Hi Laura, me and my children adore you soo much. You and your family are absolutely lovely. We watch your videos with great joy alot.We will be making the bird seed muffins tommorow first thing in the morning.Love from London.xxxx
Such a beautiful tree for the birds. Lots of delicious snacks! They should be munching for a while. Great job. Just love all you do.The squirrels would wreak havoc on mine!!!! ❄️🌲🐥🐦🐿
My family uses a natural tree and when we put it out after the New Year our winter range mule deer eat the tree. Lol. They will love all these extra treats too. I put out many items that usually go to compost like orange and banana peels and they eat everything I give them.
This would be such a fun thing to do with my grandson when he comes for Christmas to create a special memory with us! So pretty and my husband loves to feed the birds. We have 2 feeders and a bath in the back yard tree. It has still been pretty mild here in VA so the birds have been fine, but I'd like to feed them.
your amazing Laura! thank you for thinking of the birds and looking out for Russel. my heart skipped a beat seeing you on the ladder. you and baby will have so much fun with all the projects you do!!!!
What a fabulous idea. I'll be doing this after Christmas. BTW, the trick to stringing popcorn is to wait a couple of days for it to go stale. Then, stringing is a breeze. ~ Lisa
Are you with child? I'm praying for a sibling for your baby boy, more grandkids for your (& Aaron's) folks and more children for your loving home. High hopes! Have a wonderful Holiday Season and Merry Christmas! Thanks for all you do Laura (& family members & cats)! I love your show!
Just an fyi.. Its considered rude nowadays to ask women if they are pregnant or if they want more kids etc. Not everyone wants several children anymore and are happy with one. Also a lot of women have a difficult time getting pregnant these days, Which would make discussing pregnancy upsetting or emotional. Even if you meant well with your prayers, its still considered noisy and impolite these days when there's so many fertility issues. I cant tell you how many times I've heard women under 40 complain about women over 40 who ask them about kids and pregnancy. Must be a generational thing.
Great ideas and great video!! When baby gets older he will be helping Mom and Dad make all those crafts and ornaments and succulents!! Cant wait to see yalls family just grow and blossom!! Life!! Its a beautiful beautiful thing!! God Bless your family in this New Year!! 2018 is your year for sure!! We all adore Garden Answer and greatly appreciate you and your family! Thank you for the videos, lessons and memories!! Keep filming Laura and Aaron!! Baby Boy and Russell!! Im feeling the baby will be here soon!! He's almost here!! So exciting!! 💙
Such a great project! I actually pulled out my supplies to do some more of the bird seed wreaths you published last year. I have been making them for our chickens, our neighbors chickens and all our bird friends. I used the top of a large artificial tree this year, placed it in an old wash tub and did something similar to this video. I had tiny bunt pans and little heart shaped muffin pans to make the ornaments. I decorated the tree and put it in the kitchen garden outside the living room double doors for all our feathered friends! such fun to watch Oh!! you were giving me a heart attack On that stool, outside in the winter!!
Such great bird feeder ideas. We don't have snow here in Melbourne but I'm guessing these are good ideas for all year round too. We have a gardener who lives in our street who plants his garden specifically to attract birds. I'll have to send him this video. Thank you so much. Watch yourself on the ladder with little bubba!
An oldie but goodie video! Wow now in 2022 you have two kiddos who would love to do this I bet! Of course Cheddar and Russell may not be able to stay inside so not sure how that would work out for the birds.
Good idea for cat-less yards.....I came home Christmas Day to find feathers all over my living room floor, no sign of the bird except for feathers. I guess kitty brought it in to show us but no one was home so took it back outside. This brings a total of 3 mice, two voles and a snake in her short 1 year life. She doesn't kill them, but just plays with them. So much for a kitty door! I have been able to round them up and put them in the vacant corn field behind us.I like the recipe for bird seed ornaments and garland. I can put them in an isolated area with a tall "S" hook to keep kitty away. Fun video!
Thank you for this. I saw it on FB but wanted to find the original source on TH-cam so I could share it with others. Plus I want to be able to find this site next Christmas. You give clear and complete directions. Thank you.
this is a great idea. I made a bird feeder using a bunt pan from your other bird feeder video and hung it it about 10 minutes ago. cant wait to do this.
This is something I have never thought of. It is such a great idea. I love how your mind works. Keep them coming! You are such an inspiration. Thank you.
I grow sunflowers and save them for winter and I grow popping corn just for birds. I also save onion bags ( made like those bags ) and make little round millet feeders 😀
Love this idea! So beautiful, creative, and natural! The only thing I would point out, is birds can't have our peanut butter. It has to much salt for them. You gotta use bird peanut butter
We do the pinecones and peanut butter; we are going to try the ornaments and garlands. I love this for feeding the birds during the harsh weather. It is so fun to watch the birds and yes, squirrels too :) Love the Video !!!!!
I absolutely love this tree I also have a free tree and didn’t use indoors because I wanted to what you’ve created thank you my English birds will love this
That is so awesome! We used to live in the country and I really miss doing that. We’re in town now and unfortunately we don’t have any place safe to hang stuff from all the neighborhood kitties. 😕. You always make my day. Love love love your videos. 😍👍
Great ideas and some of them I'm going to use but clearly you do not have squirrels - I do - they would have that garland taken down and taken to their nest(s) in less than a day - the birds wouldn't get to enjoy lol Probably the birdseed ornaments too but those would take less time to replace. Gotta love squirrels
Is there any worry about other animals (rodents) enjoying this? I have mine all ready and am wondering how far from my house to place the tree. Excited to get out there to feed our feathered friends. Thanks for all the great ideas!!
I thought you could do this outside on one of tree’s on jew property! Benjamin could help you make these!!! Love this tree. And all bird foods!!! Or maybe do not want squirrels to come!!!
Love the video Timeless even though you made it two years ago beautiful ornaments and love the orange cat running through the video as you were shooting! LOL happy holidays peace love and joy to you!
What a beautiful tree. I wish wish wish that Christmas tree sellers would offer more trees with that “open” look. The first thing I do when I get my tree up is to cut away about 25% of the branches. Otherwise none of the ornaments have room to “hang!”
I LOVE this idea! Thank you! I love your channel! I’m going to do this with a living tree in my yard! Happy New Year and congratulations on the new life growing within. Blessings of Peace.
beautiful!! Thank you for thinking of the kitty...mine are indoor, but so many people in the neighborhood have cats that roam my yard :( My feeders stay high. I'm certain I'd have more birds if the cats weren't such a threat. This is such a lovely idea.
This is awesome--a project I have NO desire to undertake. I mean, if I am going to haul out a muffin tin, you can bet that anything I cook it in will be fit for human consumption.
Maybe this has been said in previous comments but it important to use unsalted, unsweetened peanut butter because there is not a lot of water available in the winter ans birds don't typically eat salt or refine sugar.
Now we need a live feed cam to watch your pretty birds too lol! Loved the ideas!!!
Jessica Whitehead I string popcorn for my tree every year. If you pop it the night before it is very easy to string it doesn’t break up. Try it my Mom told me this little trick. She used to make my popcorn garland every year until she passed. Great idea!!!
@@elaineanderson2068 What a lovely memory✨. Also a great tip that lives on!! 💞
@@elaineanderson2068 hey can you please spread word about a TH-cam video called library assistant becomes savior for dog
So beautiful! I love how you explain things, Laura, it's like talking to a friend. Your excitement and zest for creating is contagious! TFS!
This was a fun video. You are so creative. The birds will absolutely LOVE this tree. Thanks for sharing!!!!!
Wow! Looking back at your older videos seeing you pregnant for Benjamin and seeing the little man now makes me realize just how much time has passed by. Hey, great ideas for winter time and feed our wildlife. I will definitely try some of these. Thanks so much for sharing
Love this should do this again with Benjamin again this year with real small tree you have in your gardens!!! ❤💙🌲🍎🍏🍊🍇🐦

my tree is just sitting on my deck. i'm so excited to move it into the yard and feed the birds. LOVE LOVE LOVE your channel 🎄💕
I love this project because I love to attract birds to my yard. They're so peaceful to watch... And you can't beat those diy projects and the Benjamin belly! Awesome!

I was waiting to see a bird dig in to the treats 😊
Wow! So me and my man were watching this and he goes, Gosh, what a beautiful person she is. Agree!!!
These are some really good activities to do with little children.
Such a beautiful tree for the birds. Lots of delicious snacks! They should be munching for a while. Great job. Just love all you do.The squirrels would wreak havoc on mine!!!! ❄️🌲🐥🐦🐿

Love it. Will share with my Sunday school kids this winter.
I made the hanging seed ornaments a few days ago. It snowed last night, and the birds are loving them today. Thanks! I enjoy your ideas.
I'm going to make some of these and gift them as Christmas gifts to my neighbors!
Laura is such a beautiful soul!
This is the cutest and most creative thing I've ever since! I love it!
"Christmas destiny" 😃 Love that!
your amazing Laura! thank you for thinking of the birds and looking out for Russel.
my heart skipped a beat seeing you on the ladder. you and baby will have so much fun with all the projects you do!!!!
So sweet! A gréât idea for our backyard friends and the “littles”. Thank you!

Затейница.Молодец.У Вас выпал снег!!! А у нас всё растаяло.Теперь птицы со всей округи Ваши.

OMG, This is just what I was looking for. Thank you Laura for all the details in making these ornaments!!!
I know the bird will be grateful for your work.
Great ideas and great video!! When baby gets older he will be helping Mom and Dad make all those crafts and ornaments and succulents!! Cant wait to see yalls family just grow and blossom!! Life!! Laura does her magic and turns everything pretty !!!😍😍😍
Such a great project! I actually pulled out my supplies to do some more of the bird seed wreaths you published last year. Just made this again this year! The birds seemed to love it last year. It’s always a fun activity for my son and I to make and enjoy the birds. ❤️
I have squirrels around... do you have that problem as well? I don't mind feeding them but want the birds to enjoy it as well.
I make those pinecone ornaments with my grandkids. Fun!
Noble firs are my favorite trees! I just love the separation of branch layers!
Ooooo just listened to the end of the video while I was typing. Also really good for kids! Great idea!
I dunk popcorns in water just a little bit and it makes them soft and pliable for strings.
An oldie but goodie video! Wow now in 2022 you have two kiddos who would love to do this I bet! Of course Cheddar and Russell may not be able to stay inside so not sure how that would work out for the birds.
I loved this video!! The last time I watched my friend’s kiddo, we did the pine cone feeder. It was so fun.
2024 here. This was helpful, thank you.
Good idea for cat-less yards.....I came home Christmas Day to find feathers all over my living room floor, no sign of the bird except for feathers. Great for Sunday school or vacation bible school as projects for the young or elderly.
You’re finally wearing a light colored shirt! Your belly is adorable, how exciting! I feel like your relative LOL! Great idea for the birds Laura!
Great ideas for our winged friends!! Love how you & your hubby take such great care of nature & Mother Earth.
Blessings!! ♡♡
This is something I have never thought of. It is such a great idea. I love how your mind works. Keep them coming! You are such an inspiration. Thank you.
Now you have your beautiful Son Benjamin and having your 2nd Bubs x
I grow sunflowers and save them for winter and I grow popping corn just for birds. I also save onion bags ( made like those bags ) and make little round millet feeders 😀

I love this for feeding the birds during the harsh weather. It is so fun to watch the birds and yes, squirrels too :) Love the Video !!!!!
such a great idea! Reminds me of Linda Wagner Tyler's book, The After Christmas Tree.
Glad it's not going to be a Russell feeder! Lol, cute
Brandi Sikora ahhahahahahha
I absolutely love this tree I also have a free tree and didn’t use indoors because I wanted to what you’ve created thank you my English birds will love this
Laura, you are incredible!!! The tree looks so beautiful and fun! Lucky birds!
Very clever, Laura. And, it is so pretty! Don't like seeing you on a step stool/ladder, though. Happy New Year. :)
Peggy Ekena I agree! I’m sure she’s totally safe and being very careful, but it made me nervous!
Made me nervous also. But she is use to it. Girl you be careful...
That is so awesome! We used to live in the country and I really miss doing that. We’re in town now and unfortunately we don’t have any place safe to hang stuff from all the neighborhood kitties. 😕. You always make my day. Love love love your videos. 😍👍
Cheddar is so happy.. waitingly patient under neat the Christmas tree 🎄 🕊🦜 Catching 🐦
Great vid, just get jumbo popcorn from Bulk Barn - pops up in almost perfect uniform size balls, easy to thread.
I love it, I love it, I love it!!!!!!! 😍😍 So beautiful, creative and serves a purpose! Can't wait for updates!
Stringing popcorn is much easier to string if it’s left out over nite. It gets stale and much easier to string.
I'm watching this in 12/2021. I was scrolling around in your back videos and found this excellent video. Thanks 😊.
LOVE This.... The Tree of Life! Bless you
Using stale popcorn, not fresh, will help keep the kernels from breaking while being threaded onto the line.
That's such a beautiful way to feed the birds!
You are so beautiful ! Thank you for what you had done!
Same here. That would just become a squirrel buffet and mess. But it sure is great.
So stunningly beautiful. what enjoyment you will have watching the birds!
What a beautiful Bird Buffet!
Love the video Timeless even though you made it two years ago beautiful ornaments and love the orange cat running through the video as you were shooting! LOL happy holidays peace love and joy to you!
O my gosh. You are too adorable 🐦

We used to make those garlands with my mother and use them to decorate the Christmas tree inside . (With dried fruit)
Such a good video to watch for this time of year. Wish I had the lovely yard space !
I like those seed cakes. Nice and simple.
I LOVE this idea! Thank you! I love your channel! I’m going to do this with a living tree in my yard! Happy New Year and congratulations on the new life growing within. Blessings of Peace.
a well presented treat for the birds, and I love birds, my only worry is about the seeds that fall to the lawn and become weeds, oh well.
Such an awesome and creative idea for an old Christmas tree!
wow thats so cute and decorative i know the birds are grateful too i am def going to make some for the birds that come to my place
beautiful!! Thank you for thinking of the kitty...mine are indoor, but so many people in the neighborhood have cats that roam my yard :( My feeders stay high. I'm certain I'd have more birds if the cats weren't such a threat. This is such a lovely idea.
Omgosh I cannot believe that you're still climbing ladders!!!!
Your tree and decorations look very pretty 💚💛💜👍
This is awesome--a project I have NO desire to undertake. I mean, if I am going to haul out a muffin tin, you can bet that anything I cook it in will be fit for human consumption.
Maybe this has been said in previous comments but it important to use unsalted, unsweetened peanut butter because there is not a lot of water available in the winter ans birds don't typically eat salt or refine sugar.
Hi, pls set up a bird cam!😊 it would be interesting to see the birds enjoying the food😊
Wonderful. Better than Last year.
What a fun, functional and beautiful idea! Thanks for sharing!
What a great idea💡I love and respect nature like you do so it’s smart to keep Russel inside lol. TFS!
What a brilliant idea 🌲 🐦
Thank you .it looks truly lovely.
Spirit of Christmas shared with nature
I find this to be a great idea, will definitely try it! I feel really sad for the cut tree though.
We live in West Lethbridge Alberta, no squirrels...although they do need food too 😁
Love these ideas. Hello from Nova Scotia Canada zone 5.
