    Just wanted to say I really appreciate the level of detail on anatomy and why it matters! From one coach to another, love this!

    Awesome explanation guys!!!
    I spent years (a decade), bench pressing in the "T-formation". It was how I was taught (or worse_ not corrected) in the early 2000's/late 90's to max-out.
    Literally set the foundation, of the development of my upper-body "build", that way...
    My shoulder joints grew amazingly (& developed impingements), thats about it though.
    While my chest grew (as expected fot that time peroid); decent but not nearly to full potential.
    Consequently, I've spent the last decade trying to correct the acquired imbalances. (Hard work & low-dose Hgh only goes so far. Lol). Too little/too late
    Quintessential example:
    🎵 "...I wish. That. I knew-what I know now.
    When I was younger..."🎶

    Wow! I have done it like this from the beginning it just felt right to me. Also rotational chest press is better for me it feel like i get more of a contraction

      That's great to hear, Les! I'm glad that you feel much greater contractions w/ this execution of the press.

    Can you explain why you prefer setting up by kicking the dumbbells up and into the shortened position vs the lengthened position? Thanks for the video guys!!

    • @PhysiqueDevelopment
      @PhysiqueDevelopment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Of course! This is going to be dependent on the weight of the DBs, as they get heavier you may not be able to kick them to that height & just starting in the lengthened position will be great as well. More so dependent on weight rather than preference!

    I have a question about the back while laying down. There was quite a lot of space between Coach Sue's lower back and the bench. Is that just her physiology, or is it intentional? I was taught to have the back flat against the surface you were working on to prevent back strain? Is that wrong? Preventing lower back strain is a priority for me.

    • @PhysiqueDevelopment
      @PhysiqueDevelopment  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you experience strain in your low back when you start to arch then we recommend that you keep your back flat against the bench. By adding an arch, you can start to help better align certain fibers of the chest better - which can help with creating better leverage during your press. Again, if your goal is limit strain on your lower back, then I wouldn't worry about it. Do what you need to do!

    Hi coach alex and sue! I just want to clarify what i'd heard from the video: do we do a converging motion on the concentric phase of the flat press? Thanks!

    • @PhysiqueDevelopment
      @PhysiqueDevelopment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! Yes, we are thinking about as you are pressing through the concentric that we want to drive our biceps together!
