  • I love Boudha and I hope you will too. There's a lot to do and see there that aren't in guidebooks (so please correct me if I've gotten anything off). As the home of Bodhanath Stupa, a UNESCO site, I'm gonna share my favorite and best Things to Do in Boudha in this Travel Guide Nepal.

      GRRRLTRAVELER | Christine Kaaloa
For food : Try momo and Sel roti (highly recommend especially the one which have banana as an ingredient )
For travel : You could go to Mangkamna मनकामना (मनकामना , word originate from 2 Sanskrit word man/मन=heart+kamna/कामना=wishes/desire ) , it is said all your wishes would come true if you visit with pure heart ,
      It is top at the mountain , so you can go by 2 way ;
1.Go by cable car and reach fast and enjoy view or ride , though there is separate rate for foreigners.
2.Go by your self to the top by doing trekking , it is not at all difficult or dangerous , it would take around 3-4 hours to reach the top and make some wonderful experience .
If you visit there i would suggest go early as possible as there would be huge line at the door itself (when i visited there as kid it took me 2 hours for my turn ) , first do trekking while returning you could use cable car .
There are 1000s of food centre around the temple so i would suggest get some suggestions from local or do research to choose the best food centre before going .
In mankamna , there is also a special rituals which might be a new experience to you but let me ask are you a extreme animals lover ? if yes then forget about this rituals but if no let me know .
One more tip - Always ask the price for anything and anywhere before buying then do bargain or say no .
      Happy journey

My honest opinion, visit Nepal only for mountains.... nothing else. And if you couldn't see the mountains for bad weather or don't go for any kind of Trekking then it's an absolute time waste.

ST B u r wrong my friend..more than the mountain or anything..it’s the people and their warm friendly nature that makes Nepal one of the best country to visit. U won’t think of visiting the mountains, if it is not safe or the people are hostile.

I have been 2 times in nepal, kathmandu most of the time. i have met buddhist masters and practitioners. it was mindblowing. nepal is a magical land for me, but i think it depends who you meet, what you do, which places you visit... potentially magic and spirituality is very close. if you are open for it. i love this country and this people. i hope to come back many times

Well glad to see u have come back to Nepal ..and gald to see u have visited boudha by evening when the lights are all on ..it looks so much better ..and if u want u can go to one of the durbar squares ,either Kathmandu durbar square or patan durbar square by evening and see how beautiful they look with all light and the alleys in these durbar square are most ancient and most dizziying than boudha ..and with more tradiotional old houses ..and if u happen to go to patan durbar square then visit this tiny Newari restaurant called HANOCHA which is very famous ,and if in Kathmandu durbar square do try and see the KASTHAMANDUP which is the structure from which Kathmandu gets its name .,if u r more into Buddhist sites then a view from atop the dale of swayambhunath stupa in the morning or evening ,or from Kopan gumba or the white gumba opposite swayambhu are worth it ..or if u wanna see the more young and modern and a bit richer group of people of Nepal and relax a bit as well then perhaps hit the bars and pubs in Thamel like DEJAVU,rum doodle ,Lakhey ..or u can go to the durbar marg which is the road directly infront of the royal palace of the now dethroned king of Nepal .u can go into the palace which is a museum now ,or go to MEZZE BY ROADHOUSE which is a restaurant in durbarmarg and then sit on the roof top with a view of the old palace which isn’t very old or beautiful though

This is crazy you look so much like the girl I dated she was from Chicago American and I’m from Nepal she came here we lived together for a while and you know how life is.. I would show you her picture you’d say wow GOD.. anyways I’m sorry to bore you .. you have a very simple way of telling the story of a city or it’s history .. your English do not have heavy accent I guess that helps lot of non English speaking audiences to understand you. Well good luck with your stay in Nepal I see you have special place for Nepal so you keep coming back. Cheers

8:06 Thangka art didn't came from Tibet to Nepal, but it went from Nepal to tibet during 6-7th century, by buddhist Princess Bhrikuti, daughter of licchavi king Amshuverma, and was married to Tibetan Emepror Songsten Gampo. She brought many sacred images and newari craftsmen with her as a dowry, who helped built there many arts and crafts.

There is an organization called Street Dog Care located in Boudha. They have a camp every saturday by the stupa where they will treat dogs for free. I did some voluntary work in 2015 for them, right when the earthquake hit. They also vaccinate street dogs against rabies every year. They have a facebook page, you really should check them out. Thank you for the videos, it really brings back beautiful memories.

    Hi
I really enjoy your video since i am from the same place...
And i want to recommend you to come visit nepal between october to november cause at that time you'll see the completly diffirent version/side which i think you'll love to experience...
At that very time night is the most enjoyable moment cause during daytime everyone will be busy with their work so at night most of the place comes to life like themel, basantapur, etc since, at this time period that i have mentioned above we even have the biggest celebrations.. So, come visit us again.. I am pretty sure you'll be blown away seeing the completly different side.
Even for me i personally enjoy this time period at night. Life since everyone + everything comes to life.. Hope to see you again in future..
Once again i loved you video.
Thankyou on behalf of every Nepalese.

Hey Christine thank you for pointing that out about street dogs and cows in Nepal and mainly in Kathmandu. It has become one of the problem for locals but yet Nepali government takes zero interest to solve these existing problems. When is our government going to learn, that is a big??Unlike other countries, they have government funded organization to take care of lose animals in the streets. Not to mention street cows and dogs also causes accidents and diseases. They have to be taken off the streets and provide them a shelter. You have a kind heart Christine and which is important of all.Keep up the good work.I enjoy watching your videos.PS, our government addressed they were going to fix the roads around Stupa but it has been nearly a decade."VERY FRUSTRATING"

There are at least 12 ethnicities like Sherpa, Tamang, Yolmo, etc around the Boudha. All these ethnic groups who share re common trait such as following Tibetan Buddhism or are ethnically Tibetan but have move to Nepal hundreds of years ago. Though they do not speak Tibetan their folk song and culture are very similar to Tibetan.

Flip flops? Bit risky Incase of foot infection especially around your toes. Plus as you said about the unevenness of the paths. A stubbed toe can quickly go nasty. Still I guess you thought about it. I always have covered feet in the streets. If you walk much further you can find the paper makers and the gompas. A good wander around there is fascinating.

I tell you, if you walk around without your camera gear in the streets, you would be mistaken for Nepali. You should hike on the trails of Shivapuri National Park. It is in Northern Ktm

What hoomans dont understand is, the street is the dogs home. It's always homey & never lonely .
So dont keep them captive , unless they like your home more than the streets.
