      from someone who could go to these places: We shouldn't! If you want to help preserve it, stay in your home region. These long distance travels should not be conducted as entertaining trips by more people, we need to reduce these trips.
      Trust me, I would love to go, but I'm opposed to it. For science yes, otherwise, stop the tourism, save the fuel and stop disturbing the bits and pieces of wildlife that are left. Spend your money on something that HELPS the ecosphere, not destroy it further!!!

    Great photography--but you know what else is part of "taking" your viewer there? Sound. Not as in "soundtrack," but the actual sounds (including silence, the most underrated sound in our generation).

    • @uwose
      @uwose 4 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      Yes, the music is way too loud. It completely wipes out the silence and takes away part of the photographic impressions.
      I even had to turn the sound off, because the loud music combined with my tinnitus made it an agony to listen to their explanations.

    • @paulpaxtop1580

      So many travel vloggers totally ruin their films with (usually awful) overbearing music, how much more moving would this film have been with powerful actuality sound . Sound is well over 60%of a films impact, spend £1,000 on a decent camera, spend more on a decent microphone and collect clean actuality sound and know how to manipulate sound in the edit. Oh yea and be as good a photographer as this guy!

      Not to mention the patronizing narration . . . This style is often found on videos aimed at kids. However, NEWSFLASH! Even kids like to be addressed as people, not as clueless idiots. Don't condescend to your audience. The action & the story either stand on their own or they don't.

      Lol at all the armchair critics. You’ve been presented with a work of art just as the creator chose to deliver it. Get over yourselves.

    • @locarnese5598
      @locarnese5598 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@mil5411 Not really. Those places have their own sounds, which are lost both through adding a soundtrack and with your suggestion.

    I've had the pleasure of once filming in the Arctic and it is spectacular. This is a VERY nice piece visually, but I agree the music is mixed too loud and at times should be absent and the sounds of the Arctic should be heard. Still, a very nicely done video with amazing footage...and I'd love to meet you up there someday!

    One of the highlights of my life was the time I spent working in the Canadian Arctic in the early 70s. I have experienced few things more exhilarating than exiting the tent in the morning to find the tracks of a massive polar bear which had walked completely around it sometime in the night before strolling off across the tundra. So glad it must have had a full tummy.

    Seals look like they would be the most ultimate of comfortable pillows. For example, at 4:03 look at that seal laying comfy on that rock that couldn't possibly appear more uncomfortable. I mean if they can turn such awkwardly uncomfortable rocks into cozy spots to relax imagine how awesome it would be to cozy up to one of them like it was a big blubber filled pillow and just watch the clouds float by as it then proceeds to rip you apart for treating it like a one.

    There was an amazing artist who loved to paint ice and snow , he made trips to northern Canada and Alaska. He went on a Canadian Icebreaker when it was on a research mission to the far North. Crew kept seeing him turn his head down and look behind him through his legs so they asked him what he was doing. He asked them what they saw when they looked at the snow and they said it’s white with a little blue sometimes. He told them to look little me he’d been looking and they were amazed to see purple, brown, yellow, pink, blue, so many other colours and they were amazed. He said he’d be up at bow of the ship painting and he’d see crew members frequently looking upside down . I found this amazing and it proved to be true. 😳 I’m not sure if it tricks the mind or the eye but it does.

    3:00 - the difference between 'just a photo' and tack-sharp is most often a tripod. Even the steadiest hands have difficulty taking tack-sharp images without a tripod. Glad to see you sometimes use one. I seldom go anywhere without the manfrotto.
