Back in the day I had Madden 07 and 08 and it was incredibly fun, they had so many features like career mode, franchise mode, and many others. They had packed with quality and care and was very replayable. Over the years they added less and less and the modes i did like got abandoned for modes that were more random and encouraged real spending. I miss those days!
My very first Madden was the 2004 with Michael Vick on the cover. It was, also, my very first foray into football in general. I remember my dad picking the Rams to play with, a team that stuck with me until 2008, when he brought the America's Game collection. The very first one I watched was the '99 Rams one. And I was hooked. I returned to Madden a few years later and had the most fun with it. Aside from the enjoyable gameplay they had a _stellar_ music playlist.
I definitely agree with Coach Madden's idea of the game as a teaching tool: I learned a lot from playing the game that I didn't know from years of watching football, and I still am amazed that coaches will make bad time management decisions when you can learn that by playing a game.

So, during the Christmas Eve livestream, I mentioned Mutant League Hockey, where teams were comprised of monsters that could kill each other during the game. Well, before that game there was Mutant League Football, which is the same concept but with football. Of note to this video because it was made using the Madden '93 engine! I'm a Brit but the Madden series has always been popular here in the UK also. I first played Madden 92 on a friends Commodore Amiga computer and the first one I personally owned was Madden 94 on the Genesis....or the Megadrive as it was called here ! The halcyon days of Madden were on the PS2 / original Xbox era....nowadays (as EA have zero competition) the game is a joke and a pale imitation of its former self... Great ASMR too... thank you from across the pond !
