Yes of course you still can. Reminds me of the guy who bought bitcoin in like 2011 and everyone was calling him a chump, then the market boomed and after a few years and he made a killing, whereas many people got burnt because they doubted.
The only issue you might have is the fear of missing out, just like everyone else. ETF's seem contrary to the point of Bitcoin. Self custody is the only way to go, unless you're really into middlemen and their fees.
It simplifies entry for retail, so there’s that
Margin debt. ETFs are "equities" that can be used as collateral in a traditional brokerage account. Spot BTC had a moment on Coinbase where it could be used as collateral for a credit line.
Just stumbled upon Staxum, and the excitement is real! This project feels like the secret sauce for some crypto magic.
One thing I want to know is how long it will take the ETFs to officially go live after they get approved.
No clue with a bitcoin etf, but generally after approval there is a preparation period from a few weeks to a few months. Considering how many players are involved and the apparent concern about not being seen as picking winners, I'd guess on the longer of that. Some of the back and forth we've seen, particularly with BlackRock has already satisfied some of the "market preparations" mechanics, so gun to my head, i'd say a month. Take with a huge grain of salt.
Mike Novagratz recently said 6-8 weeks after approval, but I think there is some uncertainty over this. If it can be done sooner (for all key issuers in this round) then it probably will be.

Part of a very important coin been talked about in the BCL
Assuming GBTC converts to an ETF in January, and Blackrock gets approved amongst others, is there any risk with GBTC not being competitive or the price dipping due to capital outflows to the other ETF's? I ask because if GBTC is an ETF, doesn't it have to track the price of Bitcoin meaning if Bitcoin rises so will GBTC regardless of competition. Trying to understand if I should sell GBTC now while I am ahead and reinvest in the best ETF when it gets approved.

Blackrock will make the price so expensive only the really rich will be able to participate
If GBTC converts to an ETF, an arbitrage will appear if it trades much out of line with the underlying spot bitcoin price. This makes it very likely all ETFs will trade very near the net asset value of the bitcoin in the fund. Capital outflows from GBTC should not cause the price of GBTC stock to fall relative to other ETFs, though it will lower the price of bitcoin if those assets don't return to bitcoin in some other way. I missed out on Crypto when it first launched in 2009 due to skepticism and I haven't. been able to forgive myself ever since. However I made a vow never to miss out on opportunities ever again so I am open to any knowledge that can help me grow my portfolio.
I am not an expert but from what I have observed, its really wise you do some proper investigation before going into the market.
The time you need to put in to educate yourself about the market is not a joke I tell you my friend. Also, on the other hand, you can get a CPA to help you find stocks with market-beating yields and shares that at least keep pace with the market for a long term.
So whats the best way to go. Educate myself or get a CPA? I am really confused at the moment. There is so many opinions on line with no definite solution.
I will say you to both but major empahsis should be on your broker, I diversified my $400K portfolio across multiple market with the aid of an investment advisor, I have been able to generate over $900k in net profit across high dividend yield stocks, ETF and bonds in few months.

😢Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment but if you do the right mathematic, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 187k in just a couple of weeks in the market, so I think there are alot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look.
Yes, transportation, e-commerce among other sectors are expected to experience growth, but who knows, the market has been a basket of surprises.
Such market uncertainties are the reason I don't base my market judgements and decisions on rumours and here-says, got the best of me 2020 and had me holding worthless position in the market, I had to revamp my entire portfolio through the aid of an advisor, before I started seeing any significant results happens in my portfolio, been using the same advisor and I've scaled up 750k within 2 years.

I don't think it's necessary to handicap. GBTC, the i shares BTC product, I'm sure State Street will probably have a BTC product. All of them are going to trade at nav. Now option liquidity could be completely different And as we get a feel for what the most popular one is. People will gravitate towards it

One of the many things I don't understand is, What is in the ETF? Just bitcoins? I understand what an etf is. The S & P etc. But the words Bitcoin ETF is like saying Microsoft ETF that has only Microsoft stock in it! That doesn't make sense! For the question of "When is retail going to come back" the answer is most likely not anytime soon. Most of retail is being suffocated by inflation and drastic cost of living increases. I can tell tell you with 90% certainty most of retail buyers in 2021 still have bad taste in much about crypto and would rather remain poor instead betting on the big games on Sunday or the next big power-ball versus putting anything more into crypto.

Seems to me that GBTC would have to be leading the pack since they have a ton of BTC. I have heard nothing about the amount that BlackRock and Fidelty have. If BlackRock and Fidelity have to purchase BTC to sell their ETF shares----that should cause BTC to spike.

The one thing we know about human nature is it tends to rhyme. So although the bitcoin ETF will be the big dog, no doubt, your telling me you don't think that after seeing positive results (that are of course going to be very, very positive) that investors won't want an ETF based on the top 10 / 50 /100 crypto alt coins to purchase a basket to see what else pops?? Damn, son you said it yourself early on in the discussion that they do this very thing with stocks & sectors so why not altcoins? I'm 100% certain that day is coming eventually. It's the human way. No doubt at all.
It could happen but alt coins are seen as unregistered securities currently. If an altcoin can be registered as a security, then yes, I could see that, but with the amount of disclosures they'd have to file, I don't think they'd make it through the filing process. The registration and filing process would uncover "where the bodies are buried" and investors would see the truth about altcoins.
