well to be fair i didn't really get into the fandom until sister location (i think before i just saw a couple fnaf clips and a few game theory videos prior) so thats probably why it doesn't seem that long ago, but i remember hearing about it when it first came out and that didn't feel like 8 years ago

I swear, fnaf songs seem to be their own genre. They all have a rather similar vibe (with obvious differences, i don't mean to say they're all the same) that i can't find anywhere else. The fnaf fandom really brought out some incredible musicians into the limelight, and i can't say i've seen anything quite like it
I think it's kinda a mix of electronic music mixed with samples from jumpscares and mechanical sounds along with some songs having music box samples combined to create a genre of electronic pop type music that just sounds extremely unique compared to other music genres. I hope that made sense and isn't some word jumble lol

@@sir_entity This is not some word jumble lol dw it's just a perfect description of what fnaf songs sound like. They are indeed very unique.
Its kind of like how the Undertale and DOOM communities both kind of made their own music genres based respectively on sounding like Megalovania and sounding like modern DOOM soundtracks. But here it's not based on pre-existing game songs. Its just all based off one another, especially I think the original thelivingtombstone song. Also possibly just vibes and what was popular at the time online. And some of it does sound different and distinct, since some does stray from the kind of "electropop with rock and music box and ambient elements" that is common. Either by leaning into one of those things more, or by adding things like rap (JTmusic, Rockitgaming) or hardcore punk/metal (Natewantstobattle, DAgames).
Some other interesting notes include how different games had different sounds, some more notably than others, but, most obviously, sister location songs are far more electronic and industrial sounding than other fnaf songs.
Fnaf 6 onwards was a bit different to my ears, in a way I can't pin down exactly and seems a bit less cohesive, but that's likely just because of the amount of growth the artists had gone through at that point with their music. Though that may also be the case with the previous games sounding different as well. I will say the first 3 games songs I think were the closest to the formula outlined in these replies, likely because of the aforementioned increase in experience that the different artists were getting over time as they carved out their identities and refined their work. Also because fnaf 4 is when both DAgames and Natewantstobattle both started getting heavy enough to spend either the entire (Game Over) or half (This is The End) of the song completely disconnected from the electropop roots of this fandoms music.
Fnaf 3 also had an increase in more emotional music box or bittersweet sounding songs because many of them took inspiration from the fnaf 3 good ending. I'd say just under half of the fnaf 3 songs were like that. The other half were about springtrap, and tended to be much more aggressive or grandiose, one of the two. Both make sense given his behaviour and plot importance.
Fnaf 4 had quite a few more grandiose sounding songs, likely due to the ambiguous yet seemingly highly important nature of its storytelling, that makes it naturally suited to heavy emotional or borderline epic symbolism, regardless of if the crying child was interpreted as the puppet or Golden Freddy (we now know its the latter, or possibly Shadow Freddy, but either way at the time that was meaningful as both were lynchpins of the story, and the crying child was also seen that way, and still is today, even without being interpreted as either animatronic.)
I could keep going but I'll stop here. I should note this was all off the top of my head, and I've never really thought about any of this before. So if I tried to actually collect my thoughts or spend any longer on this topic, it will likely be 3x the length minimum.
Tl;Dr: each fnaf game has its own general sound for its fan songs, alongside the single overall sound they share very broadly. And there are complex reasons for all of this
I just want to say...this has been a journey for all of us.
No reason to hate on anybody new to the fandom, nor lead them down the wrong path.

FNAF quite literally saved my life. I was around 10 years old and my dad was incredibly abusive (he still kinda is). I planned multiple times to unalive myself but never followed through with them bc I didn't want my mom to be sad, so I switched to thinking about unaliving them, which wasn't much better. I constantly had thoughts like these, of both kinds, but then I found my escape. It was 2014 and I believe the first video I saw was from Girls Play, I loved it so much, and then it snowballed from there. I was close to just killing myself and putting a stop to the indecisiveness that day too. My mom was at the store (I was usually left at home by her since the store's literally a short walk away) and my dad was at work, so I would've been uninterrupted. The thing that makes me upset now regarding this story of mine is that half the time I tell it people laugh because it's FNAF. Most of my friend group hates FNAF and mock it, including my partner even though he's heard my story, but if I were to say anything they'd just tell me that it's just a joke, which is unfortunate. I'm still sometimes suicidal to this day, but I have reasons to live that I recognize now, and FNAF will always be special to me.
P.S. I'm aware how dumb my thought process was when I was younger.

Man I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope something for you gets better. I can totally relate to the thoughts of killing others or ending yourself. I’ve been going through shit like that for a long time. But its good to hear you’ve been getting better. I also get it when you say fnaf was an escape As someone else who grew up on it. I get that people mock it and all but I can’t help but sympathize with all of this because it was basically my fucked up childhood on TH-cam.
I really hope you recover from all that and I hope it never comes back. Life sucks but you have to stay strong. I’m glad to hear that you have something to live for. If only I could have that. Also don’t let it bother you too much when people mock and laugh. It’s hard I know but just try.

Y.G.I.O. [GAME OVER] is one of my favorite fnaf songs, it has a lot of really nice ambient stuff going on. at the exact same time, it makes me anxious because one time i was listening to it when i was still in middle school with my earbuds, and the teacher unplugged my earbuds and then the song started playing at max volume in the quiet classroom XD worst moment of my life.
generally though, fnaf means the world to me, i have so many good memories with it, i think it was my first introduction to fandom too. i personally like the old lore more, yknow with the whole rebornica AU stuff and all that, but i do kinda like the new lore too, at least everything up until security breach. i will always see william afton as a weird murderous purple dude named vincent or just referred to as purple guy who likes toast for as long as i live XD
dude you don't know how much this means to me, during january of 2015 i found out about the game through my older sibling, i remember being horrified of the game, but i got used to it and it became such a big part of my life, and i loved watching its journey to the end. i remember getting so excited for the fnaf 3, four, and fnafsl trailers, and here i am, 7 years later. this playlist means so much to me, because literally almost all of these songs i was able to recall perfectly. it's really touching to go back to those times.
I found out in a similar way but it was one of my ex friends(currently ex friend) who introduced me to it and it gave me Nightmares until i started watching like nightcove_thefox and markapiler(sorry if I spelled it wrong)
It's great to see this playlist back up, it's probably my favorite collection of FNAF songs.
That said, if you're making a Part III, then two songs I'd love to see on it that typically get left off of playlists are "Finale" (FNAF 4 song by NateWantstoBattle) and "Not Here All Night" (Phone Guy Theme by DAGames).

I’ve been in the fandom since 2014, at the start of FNAF 2, I’m sure.. and I feel so grateful to have been able to watch the FNAF series grow. I will never ever forget the first songs ever made, the first theories, teasers that everyone would go crazy over.
FNAF turns 10 years old in 2 years which is crazy to think about. As much as the new games don’t feel like FNAF, it’s nice to see newbies joining and feeling the same excitement we used to/still do. I was 9 when I got into FNAF and I turn 17 in a couple of months, 8 years of being in a fandom is quite an achievement in my book pff. Listening to these songs again makes me feel 9-10 years old again, can’t wait for the third part!

I love to call myself a veteran even when I started to love the fandom, like, 6 years ago. I know I'm not in it from the beginning, but it didn't stop me from feeling so hecking *old* in the fandom. I'm always going to remember all the awesome songs, the storyline that was never truly uncovered and the memories I made, even when I fell out of the fandom a year ago 😌

The first part was good, a reminder of the classics. But this... Gosh, THIS is nostalgia. These songs define those days when I got all down and blue because I thought FNAF was about to end. (FNAF 3 & The one called FNAF 4: THE FINAL CHAPTER, I mean, how was I not going to think that). And now, no matter how "The finale"-vibes new games want to give, I know someday we'll have something more. Something I thought was gonna last only 1 year (2014-2015) is now almost a decade long. And I grew with it... I always wanted Scott to make "The Desolate" saga's 3rd part. Heh... Guess I better let that hope down, yeah?

ay everyone has to find it at some point so welcome to the fandom
I joined at the early 2017's then stopped at the early 2018's because my mom found what the animatronics did to you when they get you (i used to tell her the deliver you pizza but you dont want it 😅) but then at the middle 2018's it caught bme again so i started to draw FNaF again ahd somewhere in the summer of 2019 i listened to "Survive the Night" (i must have listened to older songs too while 2017 but i cant really recall) so i consider it to be my first FNaF Song i ever listened to. Then it started to hit harder as Special Delivery was coming out really soon, i listened to "It's Me" and "Don't Forget" then all of TLT's Songs (1-5) and thus my FNaF phase started to reveal its true self. I listened to "Purple Guy Remastered" and all of Groundbreaking's FNaF Songs, then came my FNaF animation phase where i would spend hours and hours watching new and revisiting old SFM's (i was a huge fan of "Old Memories"). Man does this fandom give you a life

I don't remember what video I watched to learn of Our Little Horror Story but I remember listening to it after what? the 3rd game and being hypnotized. Sadly when fnaf came out I was listening to a whole lot of other bands. But I feel like the best music came out from the 3rd game.
