Benhur is one of my favorite movies which I watched with three of my very best friends. It was a long time ago and it happened in another country. Fascinating history. Thanks.
@arulcastro5013 yeh, the history is amazing, and I gave the very skimmed over simplified version, but I really enjoyed being there. My friend was the casting director @ MGM Studios for a very long time, until they stopped producing movies. I had actually asked him first, if the tour was worth the visit, and he encouraged me to go.
Thank you so much for putting this together. Culver City was the first city to issue a city business license for movie studio production. Even before Hollywood (Los Angeles).
Sony is in Culver City not Los Angeles. They’re separate cities. Back in the mid-60’s we lived down the street from MGM when there were huge lots of. As kids we were able to sneak into lot 2 that was bordered on the east by Overland and the west by Elenda street. Such fun until we were caught by the security guards.
Yes, Hollywood is part of Los Angeles. Hollywood is a district of Los Angeles. Not an independent municipality. Now, West Hollywood is an independent municipality and not under the jurisdiction of the city of Los Angeles.
@@hollycaputowanderlust - If I remember correctly, the guy that I work for owned the Culver City Hotel. At the time it wasn’t being occupied as an active hotel so, he rented out the first floor to another business and we were on the third floor. He ran a film distribution company and sold rights to foreign broadcasters. I remember going on exploratory mission of the upper levels of the hotel and it was basically frozen in time and all the old furniture was still in the rooms. It looked like a time-capsule from the 40s or 50s. I have to admit that it was very spooky and unnerving.
Haha this is more a historical documentary than a clip about the tour itself. Yeah i know they didnt allow video. But at least show pictures of the ACTUAL TOUR!
Great tour around Sony Studio. Tnx4sharing 👍
You are welcome ❤️

Hey, are you the guy that wrote the book about his adventures on the studio lots?
Culver City is still part of Los Angeles
HOLLYWOOD is part of Los Angeles as well

I worked there for ten years.

Don’t you mean MGM?
It's the old MGM...and that's really what I wanted to see, and wish that they had shown more
@@hollycaputowanderlust - I used to work in Culver City for an independent film maker from Italy when it was still MGM.
@chrisjenkins9978 that's awesome. My friend was the casting director there at MGM when it was. My heart has always belonged to the "Old Hollywood."

@chrisjenkins9978 oh I'm sure, but how incredible of an experience. There are many ghosts floating around that area.
Part of Los Angeles county. Not the city.
