Honestly I just feel bad for Jeremy. He’s being possessed by Gary and nobody cares to save him even though Hop Pop was friends with him💀

Hunter (Andrias) and Dipper (Barrel) being besties was something I didn't know I needed until this episode came out.

When a prophecy is involved in any media and someone tries to fight against it I always quote: "One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it."

I didn't even know what Midsommar was before watching this episode and when I learned I was only slightly surprised this got past censors. Some Andrias backstory with the super fun Leif Plantar

Fun fact: Barrel is also voiced by Jason Ritter, AKA, Dipper Pines. We got the whole OG trio now!
Next week, we're getting closer and closer to the endgame as we reunite with two very familiar faces.

It's always been hilarious to me how the Newts have laser beams and fully functional robot armies... but still haven't figured out wireless thought transmission for the Core.

Do you remember in Season 2 Episode 17 when Sasha went after Barrels Warhammer?
Bradock tells the legend of Barrel on the boat, "Barrel gave his life defending a helpless village from a terrifying beast" that would have been one of the villages Andreas sent Barrel to defend at the end of the episode to get rid of him. Not only is Barrel dead, but it was from Andreas making him leave the kingdom
As for Leaf, the Planters did say that dance had been in their family for generations, and theres only been another pink frog that we have seen and love so much cause of his bravery and antics! Maybe the dance coming back this episode was more than just a callback in this very lore heavy episode, cough wink 👀

Young Andrias and his father reminded me so much of Hunter and Belos when I watched this; I was surprised that the father didn't have the same voice actor as Belos, they even sound alike

It's funny how you have the silly plot points in season 1, the major movements in season 2, only for both the silly stuff to mesh beautifully with the serious plot stuff in season 3. The crew did an awesome job here. Makes you wonder what The Owl House third act could've been.

The core and the king definitely needed to be a 20 minute episode. As is it is good but it does feel rushed

Fun Fact: King Aldrich is voiced by William Houston. He also voiced King Vendrick in Dark Souls II, who served as the inspiration for King Andrias.

Good ole Gary... And then we get "The Core and The King." There's always more to anyone's story.

This pair of episodes could've each been 20 minutes long with no complaints from me. I love the lore, and looking back on these episodes made me so happy.

"You tried to enslave my hometown and I violently murdered you that one time!" XD!
"The King and the Core"shows just how the hierarchy came to be. The farmers were overall okay before, but then, because Leif stole the box, they were put down, taxed and squeezed by the toads. Barrel and the rest of his people were exiled to the Tower for his indecision. Absolutely heartbreaking. Even the last line by the Core(his fathers part) states that it's ALMOST proud of Andrais. Damned by faint praise.
In "True Colors", Andrais blames himself for his friends betraying him where Lief was terrified of what the Core would do to their world and Barrel was stuck between choosing one friend or the other.
I like that the three friends are the color of Calamity Box, but are the opposite personalities. Lief, rather than the pink strength is more the heart. Barrel, rather being wisdom(the green), is the strength. Andrais, despite being blue, is the wisdom.

Must say I totally agree with Sprig and Polly about Hop Pop's decision to recruit a power-hungry zombifying mushroom to the Resistance. Even Barry the candy trader would be a better choice.
Yes, Darcy is basically what would happen if Marcy tried her best to be an evil overlord - more adorkable than sinister😀 But there is still something uncanny that the Core is now wearing not only Marcy's body but also her psychic... And yes, all these thousand years Andrias listened to reproaches of his not-quite-dead father (and his other ancestors) - no wonder he was so bitter. And that not to mention that his best friend just stole the main power source of their civilization.

Sorry I'm late. Today is my birthday and was out all day. So cool that such an awesome pair of episodes was aired on this special day. Your reaction when the fungus returned. When the Plantar dance came back. When you realized that was Barrel and his Warhammer. The mossmen. The robots. I think it should be clear to you by now why Amphibia has no such thing as fillers. And of course, the Bessie love is still stronger than ever 😂
One of the best reactions for sure! Remember a couple of episodes ago, the Proteus one, you asked about everyone's favorite place? Well that first episode is. A farm surrounded by nature? Count me in... well except without the extremism and parasitic leader. Otherwise it would've been perfect 😛

The Core and the King episode was very emotional. Andria's past was so dark and sad. Leif was trying to protect his feelings

Yes sooo much to unpack here. 1st this show really breaks the group 9 out of 10 shows would have Marcy as the main character who wanted to be a hero and Anne and Sasha both started out as bad influences. The Core took the person who should have been the main character with plot armor. The Core is one of the most evil villians ever taking away Marcy who was a fan favorite and while Andrias is responsible for his own actions it has clearly turned him into someone far worse than he would have been. The Core somehow has all the evil characteristics of a cold calculating machine and of Andrias' dictator father with a huge ego. Speaking of Andrias you may recall that scratched up painting that our gang found in the basement in season 2. It has so much deep symbolizim as how Andrias feels about his friends he was angry enough to scratch it but even after hundreds of years he couldn't bring himself to get rid of the painting completely. Finally I felt bad for Barrel for several reasons in addition to the obvious he never really got a hero moment in this show. But then I realized that we already established that Barrel is worshiped as a hero who gave his life defending a village. I salute you soldier!

Leif should have not betrayed her friends and stole the music box I do not care what her reasons were betrayal is betrayal no matter how you twist it she really hurt Andrias the person she clamed to be her dearest friend

Betrayal is not betrayal though when your intention is to save her dearest friend, she may have hurt him and she knows she hurt him but she did it to try and save him

@@DayBlueberry-F But it was still wrong it dose not change the fact that shee did betray him we do not know if Andrias whould of maide the right desision or not because Leif took that choice away from him
