      @@maniitob0 - what do you want out of a car? These cars are really easy to work on and have several really good forums that can cover just about anything on them. As for which one to go with... well they ran from ‘79 to ‘93 with plenty of options. LX, GT, SVO, Saleen, 4 eyed, aero, Coupe, Hatch, or Convertible. Up to your preference and budget.

    Things that stranded me:
    -Aftermarket clutch cable. Replaced with one that included a firewall adjustment. Much better now.
    -Black "tragic" 150 electric fan. The motor failed and the car almost overheated. Flex-a-lite hooked me up with a 160 retrofit for free.
    -Fuel pump module. The contacts just completely wore away from mileage. The walbro pump itself was fine.
    -The PIP sensor in the distributor. I stopped having issues after I removed the factory distributor cover.

    Bought my unmolested '90 fox a little over two and a half years ago and have been daily driving it since. Picked it up with 73k original miles, never been stranded and have had very minimal issues. I will definitely vouch for Late Model Restoration. Great service, great packaging. I ordered a few things from American Muscle prior to LMR and they don't do the best packaging job resulting in items jumbling around during shipping and two of the three things ive purchased from them were damaged on arrival only resulting in them sending me a new item with even less packaging. Happened both times. never with LMR, they pack it so your items dont fly around in transit and also have very fair prices.

    Daily drove my 92 for 15 years and kept it garaged winter's. Most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. Drove it hard and never had to spend a dime on anything other than basic maintenance.
    Pulled the stock engine out at 195,000 miles and it sat in the garage for 5 years while the body work was done and stroker was built. Due to a lack of fuel economy I only drive it on weekends now. Still a great car just not ideal for daily use.

    I daily drive an 87&1/2 white gt with t-tops. I got mine from a older guy that had an issue that prevented him from driving stick. Keep in mind this car had 73k miles on it when I got it. It was very clean and certainly not beaten. It’s a 1 owner car. I planned to daily it but what you said about the age of these cars couldn’t be more correct. I paid 9k cash and the gentleman helped me out on the taxes at the dmv. The condition of this car is not flawless but well kept. Honestly speaking it set in his garage and was rarely being used since around 2006. I did a full tune up. Had to replace the thermostat, heater core retrofit the ac and at that same time replace the compressor. Replaced all the filters. Brakes rotors wheel bearings break hoses ps hoses. There was an issue with it stalling out or it would rev roughly at stop lights and it would just misbehave. So I had to replace the idle air control motor. Auto-zone sold me one and it still didn’t fix it so I being a novice at mechanical things threw more parts at it. As it would turn out the iac motor from the zone was defective. I don’t know if anyone is familiar with a product called sea-foam you can add it to your gas when you fill up I do a can like monthly. But they also make it in spray can well my Original iac motor was revived after I gave it a good cleaning. The mounts I did those and I went rubber because Napa didn’t have the polyethylene ones in the store or at any close warehouse. And they made a huge difference. I have a 225 hp car maybe 228 because I treated it to a k & n panel filter. So I’m not going to be racing anyone.i wanted a mustang and when they were being made I was not able to get one. First because in 87 I was 16 with a co signer I was able to get payments to where I could afford it. I had a good after school well/we had a program that you could work half of the school day. The insurance was the factor that prevented my mustang ownership. Then I got nailed twice at age 19 & 20 for (2) dui’s and had a situation where I lost my license for a time in it was indefinite because the second time I tried to run and flipped my bronco 2 in a persons yard. Well I did sixty day in jail and had to do a reassessment of my life well I started out with the 12 step program and was still having issues not with drinking but with other things turns out I have bi polar disorder. So I started seeing a psychiatrist and life became normal not right away because they took a while to find a medication program that worked. The mustang I have is my psychiatrists car and he 67 and has an issue with his hip that makes driving a manual transmission car impossible. He now has a brand new mustang ecoboost model. I wanna say it’s just the standard mustang because it not the 5.0L I have really gotten to know him over the years and he sold me that 87-1/2 gt with t tops that’s a rare car and to be stock is all the more a treat. I no longer daily it because it’s not practical for one. I have classic plates on it now so my insurance which is finally normal again after almost 20 years of hell only allows for 7k a year in miles. There is no gps hell I have a cassette player. So I got a 2013 Honda Pilot. Again from my shrink this was his wife’s car. But I got financed for that one. He gave me a slamming deal on that. Idk why maybe because I took on the mustang and kept it alive. I’m blessed to have a dr. Like him. He will retire in 2020 and I will have the hardest time adjusting to a new shrink.

    I would recommend replacing quite a of stuff depending on condition. Some of the things people don't think of are fuel pump, coil, wiring for the fog/lights to a thicker gauge as that can blow a fuse or wiring. Basically all the everyday unfun things. I had to throw at least a couple grand at it. Rad, water pump, hoses, alt, dist, wiring, etc.

    Had an 88 Fox in my early 20's, loved that car. It was an 5.0 GT, Automatic. The only trouble I ever had with it, was from the stuff I did to it. It was RELIABLE! Sold it after a year, was headed to college. Missed it since it was driven out of my driveway. Ended up going on a hunt for it about 2 years ago, found that the buyer bought it, then parked it in a field in 2000. I wanted to cry when I seen how it was abandoned. Tried buying it back, but the woman is a horder and wouldn't sell. This past April, I found and purchased an 87, ttop, GT 5 speed. Almost all original, besides the things you want to change in the engine on a fox (exhaust, larger air intake and sub-frame connectors). Overall, pretty close to being stock. 81,000 miles, with a new odometer, but all documentation present. It's been a lot of fun to drive. And like this TH-camr, I am buying a lot of cosmetic parts to work on it over winter. I will probably just keep this one for a long time. So much fun to drive!

    I did get an 220 000 km one owner 92GT. $3200 Canadian. Before tax. $700 I paid to correct 2 spots where paint peeled off the fender. The spoiler was removed and the hatch and rear was blended/resprayed as well. Also for the $700, a tiny rust spot where the blue Ford oval sits just above the tailight. Fairly rust free. Not a rebuild. New AOD was installed with a 100 000 km warranty 35 000 km ago.
    Ya, I know an AOD with 2.73 gears. Crappy 0-60. But when not on a track or in a safe area 0-60 is holding cell to jail cell with the car being confiscated (and maybe even disintegrated?).
    Some small areas of concern are under the gas tank, inside rear quarters behind the plastic panels eg where the fuel filler neck is located. Both sides. Bottom of the shock tower small area pass side, behind the combination valve on the weld seam on the driver side. Floorboards and everything else clean and mint including torque boxes and interior.
    Cost to clean up those areas $1800 Canadian from a higher end classic car restoration shop which specializes in restoration and custom car panel/ floorboard construction.
    Then it's a rust free original owner GT.
    Original owner was an elderly gentleman retired from the Canadian Armed forces ..... yes to all my US neighbors we do kinda have one up here believe it or not.

    Not bad,a bit vague for my taste. I've driven a handful of fox body's daily since 1994. My current driver is a '92 GT with 348xxx miles,250,xxx from me. I've easily put more than 3/4 million miles on the bunch. I've had one TFI module go bad. My hottest fix has been fuel pumps. KEEP FUEL IN YOUR TANK! I like to run them low,tracking my mileage,dumb mistake. 1/8 tank,time to fuel up! Electric,in tank fuel pumps rely on being immersed in fuel to stay cool. Second,when your tensioner pulley starts making noise,don't gamble,change it. Because as said here,a belt loss is a tow. Third,winter tires. If you want to drive in adverse weather you can,don't need extra weight,300lbs in the hatch won't do a damn thing but offset your weight distribution,which diminishes steering. Go buy some performance all season,or even better yet ice/snow specific tires,for an extra set of stock wheels. You will be absolutely amazed!! I prefer Michelin Alpins but blizzaks or the like are gonna work wonders. Even cheapies. Winter specific!!!!!

    I'm getting polyurethane for mine. Just bought a 93' foxbody. Polyurethane is a bit more expensive but worth it in the long run 👌 @CreateYourWorth

      My T5 transmission has seen better days. So IDK if it's worth me putting a Poly bushing for that reason.

    • @Deftonic101
      @Deftonic101 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +CreateYourWorth I ended up getting polyurethane because it absorbs a great amount of the vibration and they last longer. Mine are pretty shot so ended up getting them. Love that white Fox. Keep it up! 👌

    i wuld go with the regular rubber mounts, not as stuff and annoying shaking lol, unless you feel like sitting on a giant vibrator for 1hr+ if its not a daily driver just go with poly mounts

    Great video man. I have the 5.0 convertable is a great car but this car I got it for 3000 79k miles and after I had it for 2 years tranie went out. I had it replaced but the tranie looks smaller. Then the original. now the Car has 83 k miles. My question is what do you think about the tranie.

    Do you know how much insurance with state farm would be for a new driver on a foxbody v8?

    • @CreateYourWorth
      @CreateYourWorth  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure. I'm in my early 30's. Adding my Fox to insurance that I already have was only $5 more a month. Granted it's only liability insurance that I have on the Fox. I currently pay full coverage on my daily and liability on my Fox. Total comes out to be $145 for both cars.

      Rafael Barrios late response but yes and no. I'm going to go look at a 91 gt 5 speed with 93k miles on it Friday for 2800. If I was you 5 months ago I would've saved up another grand or 1500 for a better selection. If you bought it how's it treating you?
