I am very grateful to you for the detailed video! Thanks to your video, I was able to change the screen to the Korg M3 step by step doing it for the first time. Everything worked out! Hooray!) I'm sorry for the computer translation, I'm from Russia.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! You’re my hero! My touchscreen had been dead for over a year and about 6 months ago I bought the replacement from eBay for like $15, but just wasn’t brave enough to try it. But I finally figured I would give it a shot. Your video is absolutely perfect. I made one mistake reconnecting the large ribbon cable and had it connected one pin over (and yes, I broke the two little black pieces on each end!). When I turned it on, the screen was barely flickering and so was the light around the joystick. But it was a quick fix reconnecting the ribbon cable and now it’s running like new! Thanks again for your awesome videos. They’ve saved my favorite workstation!
I ended up buying a "kit" on EBay for $50 that included the mounting tape, as well as a new battery. I finally got around to taking my M3 apart yesterday, and it took me 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. I am very glad I had the chance to watch these videos first, and think they are definitely helpful. I will say, if you have a hard time removing the clip connector for the big ribbon strip on the main board, as I did, be very careful and take your time. I broke the little black side tab that I thought needed to be pried slightly to remove the connector, but it does not need to be pried. Just be patient with it. The piece I broke off does not seem to have hurt anything. It works like a champ again. Thanks for the great videos.
THANK YOU... THANK YOU... THANK YOU....I followed you in real time and did everything that you did...I really appreciate that you did not blow past procedures that may seem UN-important... the UN-important areas were nail bitters for me... Thank you for taking the time to give me your experience... End result.... my M3 touch panel is working 100%... Thanks to you!! I purchased my touch panel from Korg Canada and paid about $65 Canadian...plus overnight shipping fee of $19... It was money well spent....The only issue is that the 2-sided tape did not come with the touch panel... Thank God... that I had a 1 inch wide roll of 2-sided tape... I just cut the tape in the right strip size and made sure that the tape would not be visible once the keyboard is put back together... Another down-side is that if I would have had my local music shop repair it... they would have charged me... get ready for this... $325 for a new touch screen/panel combo and labor... I even said that I was advised that only the touch panel would have to be replaced and that the touch display is fine...they only order the whole part and not the touch panel... You saved me hundreds including labor... Many thanks and keep on doing what you are doing... -peace.. A.
Thank you so much. I followed your instructions. Not a single scratch. The new display works wonderful (when i acquired the unit, it was second handed to me, so the touch panel was a bit old, and never worked very well). Even when you can find instructions on ifixit, or read the little manual that comes with the touchscreen, your help makes it much more intuitive. I am happy playing my brand new Korg M388! :D
Thank you so much for the time you took to video this, i got the screen from e-bay, with the same instructions so probably from the same company, it was a bit scary taking the korg apart, and when i got it all put back together the screen didn't boot, but was lit up, so i took it apart again to find one connector not plugged in all the way, took me a few hours , your video helped tons, and everything works great now :) yay
Hey..great job on a difficult repair. This seems to be a very common problem. I own a Korg Kronos now but still love how the M3 sounds with the RADIAS exb installed. I wish I had the patience the do this repair!
Thanks for taking the time to make these. People are always wary of taking apart their expensive stuff, but with this it made replacing my screen easy and quicker =) =)
+whoyoum sir thanks for the video. i just ordered on ebay. Hope i could do it aswell.. My question,. Yesterday when im at church my m3 is powered on for 3 hours, i was surprised the touch panel works again. And i turned it off and turned it on and it works again. But today i tried turning it on the touch panel is not responding properly again. Do u think whats wrong? im surprised yesterday it works for few hours
I was told it could be a matter of humidity or temperature. I suffer the same problem. When it's cold it doesn't work at all. Solution: let's play only at summertime !
So, i bought the screen from ebay from Bulgaria. maybe you're the seller because it had inside the box a link with this video as a tutorial (is it you?) and replace it doing all the steps carefully exactly the way you do it in your video. but i can't do the calibration. when i go to the calibrate mode i touch the box on the left side down and it goes black but when i try to do the same to the other one at the top left side it doesn't turn black therefore it cannot calibrate...Can you help me with this? any ideas?
What happens if you've replaced the panel but don't get ANY response from the top right corner (drop down menu)? I actually had to replace the LCD itself (along with the touch panel) and I was able to figure out how to line it up correctly.). But I'm wondering if there is a correct way to do it if you don't have the old panel as a placement guide.
I am in South Africa and ordered a Fujitsu part from USA but it was not the same size. The screen is too big and broke while trying to fit it. Where did you buy yours and what is the specs and model number?
biiig biig thanks 4 this video topic because I have the same problem with my M3 I remove all parts and I could see the same components until the touch sens part at this time I have not the new but I will do it when I ' ll have it !
Could you tell me where did you bought the two sided tape? It looks like the original. I changed the touch panel on my M3 too but I didn't found the original tape.
what would your first suggestion be if someone put this thing back together (after following all instructions) and the screen was not responding to anything at all
I figured it out. I had the touch panel on the wrong way. Meaning the part that receives the touch information was not on the outside.... I had to flip it around. That needs to be updated in the paper instructions because there is no "real" way to know which way is correct. One way to be that it's right sure is to make sure that the ribbon part that is a solid color is facing up (meaning you can see it) once you insert it into the ribbon connector. Also the ribbon connector part that connects to the actual screen should be on top. Facing you once you insert the screen into the metal frame. I hope this helps someone and not confuses. Let me know if I can help!!!
hi friend I have the Pa1X korg. the touch panel is ok.But light of the display begins to look bad .¿ you could tell me how to fix that? the screen is devoid of light (backlight poor) thanks for your help -
I hope you are still monitoring comments. If so, I followed steps to the tee but now my screen is blank. I’ve taken apart and put back together two more times. All connectors are connected but the screen is lit but blank. It makes the beep noise when I touch it but nothing is there. Any suggestions?
Try to spray all ribbons contacts with Control/Contact cleaner and connect them again. If this does not help then most likely you got faulty panel. Good luck.
hello. is anybody who can tell me how to buy a touch panel for Korg M3 , please? I want it to be original , also with those side-by-side adhesives. thank you.

BTW, the screen I got from eBay actually had adhesive on the screen itself on all 4 sides, so that made things even easier!
That's Great to hear! Thanks for sharing!

Many thanks, i've got the same problem on a PA 300 keyboard but i'm afraid to open it, it seems so delicate to repair...

No, it is not me. Try to clean contacts. If that will not help than maybe you got faulty panel or not the right model.

Could you tell me where did you bought the two sided tape? It looks like the original.
I changed the touch panel on my M3 too but I didn't found the original tape.
The tape came together with touch panel.

Julius DeBerry First I would check all connectors. If screen does not light up it is probably faulty screen.
