Another positive vote from Jokeyman. Not just the touchscreen, the entire LCD panel needed replacing and i was able to do both from watching your video. Thanks.
I just want to say thank you so much for 6 years my screen has not worked and I honest started using other gear. Hey Patrick! So glad you were able to get yours fixed. It's an amazing synth and deserves a second chance! Thanks for taking the time out and writing a lovely comment as well!
Thank you so much. Your video helped me save my M3. I was actually about to dump it and thought that if I was going to dump it, I should at least try to fix it myself for a few bucks.....and it works again! Really appreciate the time you took and the clarity of your presentation.
Time for me to bite this bullet too, as my M3 touchscreen stopped working as well. Thank you for your very insightful video, I'll be playing it while I do this repair. Not looking forward to the repair at all, but your video will be a great help I'm sure. Thanks again.

Good video - cheers!! My screen ended up black after replacing the glass.. The touchscreen stopped working, but I had a picture. Replaced the touch screen and now the screen is black (but the touchscreen works - tried the X-Y pad and so I know the replacement glass is working). No idea what has happened to the screen itself. I’ll have to dig out the service manual and see if me replacing the glass and the battery reset something. I did recheck all the connectors but nothing so far. Btw the EXB-M256 ram that goes in that slot is quite expensive for what it is, but it does help boot up time.
Exactly the same problem here, black screen after replacing the touch screen but everything else is working. Did you end up finding a solution for this?
Just did this operation for the second time, with same result: the lowest part of the screen works fine, but the closer to the top of the screen I go, the more above the wanted function, I have to press. So, the functions on top of the screen cannot be used, and the screen cannot be calibrated. The two new touchscreens were from two different suppliers/manufacturers. Would be grateful for any ideas, where could the problem be?

I'm hoping someone will read this even though its a long while since the video was created. I saw this video or another maybe three years ago and was inspired enough to purchase a repair kit off ebay. I finally worked up the courage to do it tomorrow. I had a question about why when you were about to reassemble you took six of the screws from your plastic cup and isolated them. What was the difference between those? They all looked the same size.
I always try and remember where the screws go - it's just something I do automatically (from fixing computers). I can't remember if the screws were different sizes - as I did this a few years ago. But just hook into it - you'll be fine :)
@@ranzee well everything went well although there was moment where I thought I may have bricked the M3. I was trying to remove the old glass and it cracked. I had more digging of the black chalking before it would come off. There was fine glass powder left on the LCD itself. I used a brush vacuum a fraction of an inch away to clean it up, but there were some scratches where the glass had cracked. I used windex at that point on a stiffer type paper towel and cleaned it. But as it turns out everything worked great when I put it back together!! Thanks for providing the info to get me through it! By the way, the six screws that were larger are for the bottom of the panel. I actually wrote down on the steel each screw number as I removed them so that when it was time to put it back together I just had to count backwards from 30.
I have a question that's off track oh, good video by the way. My question is this, if I take inputs from Roland drum trigger kit and go to the midi input of the Korg M3 expanded, can the USB port from the Korg relay that information to my laptop computer for Cubase Daw?
Hey, I doubt it would work the way you suggest. However, there's other ways you can achieve this. If you want your Roland to be the master clock (as you say trigger), then you can set the M3 as a MIDI slave and have it work that way.
@@ranzee but will this allow me to take the midi signal coming out of the Roland going into the Korg so I can record what I'm doing on my Cubase Daw using the USB cord?

I just bought a Korg M50 61 key synthesizer here in the states for $125.00 that has this touch screen issue.
