Love the car, love the color. To the purist, the 1979 z28 had different emblems on the grill and fuel door. They had 3 black stripes not red, white and blue. Also, the rear wheel well didn’t have the flare until 1980. But, who cares.
I have the same color 79 Z28 … black interior, all stock except for a Quick Silver shifter. Pulled the original motor .. put in a 350 4 bolt .30 over with .480 lift cam an hooker super comps. Was out driving it today.
The hood release is buried way underneath the grilles, under the bumper. Horrible placement, the cable release on a 1977 grille was much better location.
What a beautiful survivor!
79 was a great year, Z28's, Disco Music, Trans-Am's, Feathered Hair, Dancing!
Wish I had one of these

Man how I'd love to have this car
Used to own this exact type, dark blue on light blue. But mine didn't have the rear wheel spoilers.
For sale or just showing it?
