I bought a 1301 mod2 a couple of weeks ago. I quickly discovered that I need to remove the magazine spring retainer clip in order to get a capacity of 7 shells into the magazine tube. Hornady shells are slightly shorter, allowing 7 shells into the tube without removing the retainer spring. Also, the stock barrel clamp is sub par. Aside from that nitpick, it is an exceptional weapon that is better than my older beloved Benelli M1S90 in every respect. It is also a more complete firearm than the Benelli M4 out of the box. Lastly, the 1301 runs the Federal Flite Control 1145fps LE 00 buck without any problems. This concludes my evaluation of the Beretta 1301 mod 2 12 guage shotgun. Thank you for the video.

@Jrh-rp7np the 1301 mod2 that I have, comes stock with M Lok slots on the forend. Yes, the plastic shroud for the mag tube is a bit off-putting and I'll probably replace it and the clamp.
I’ve noticed with some brands I can only get 6 in the tube, so that’s interesting feedback. I did change to the Magpul stock, and added an Esstac 5-round shotgun card to the receiver.

I bought one when the Tactical Model first came out. Mine had the shorter mag and the problematic bolt release. I put the aftermarket fix to the bolt release issue on it, and added a mag extension and accessory rail mag brace, and it's pretty much just like yours now. Never had a failure. Great gun. And mild recoiling for its weight.
I've had my 1301 tactical for a couple years now and it's just spectacular. Straight out of the box it's smoother than butter and is built to last. A lot of its stock features are things that people have to add after market on a benelli. It was worth every penny.
I have owned a Beretta A400 for several years which I believe is the same action in a hunting configuration. Honestly love Beretta above any others. Very well made .... especially the made in Italy models and they have a incredibly fast cycling action.
I’m looking forward to one of those- I got to handle one the other day, fantastic texture on the fore grip, all of the controls were super easy to reach and manipulate. A really fine piece of armament.
Bought one many years ago. It is light and handy. The original version without the magazine extension is very easy to disassemble and clean. Super simple self-cleaning gas system. The light weight has one disadvantage. The recoil with Federal Tru-ball slugs (1600fps version) is fierce.
Not a shotgun guy but always wanted to get one, after watching few videos (including yours) I purchased one. Have not had a chance to go out and send some shells down range. The one I have is a Gen 3 and supposed to have all the issues (if any) fixed and upgrades from Baretta. Been using snap shells and training to load, unload and getting familiar with it. I can't believe how light it's compare to other shotguns. Good video as always!
recently purchased a Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol, a step down from the 1301 but very similar including the grips. I've heard them referred to as "aggressive" which for me is an understatement. The grips are extremely rough but I guess you'll never have to worry about it slipping out of your hands
Finally got ours. Had to wait 6 months for one to come in (KC area). Because of the wait, I got a Mod 2 which is nice. Great shotgun. My wife made the final decision (vs Beretta A300 Patrol).

Basically sometimes the button gets jammed and I have to tug the lifter to the side to clear the latch and allow the bolt to go forward. I didn’t discover cause until I went to Shotshow and talked to a rep. He said the “lifter was out of time.” Unfortunately, so is my factory warranty. It’s going to cost me an arm and leg to ship, have fixed and ship back. I figured it might be quicker and possibly cheaper just to replace the parts myself. 🤷🏽♂️
I liked mine but after 50 shells the hand guard snapped on the positioning pins that go into the receiver and the bolt release rubber came off. Sent it into warranty and it’s been there for 6 months and they haven’t touched it yet
