Sooo, Tom. There's this YTube videographer named Thomas Kovacik that had a Sony FX3 for the past year and then just made a video recently that he switched to a Canon C70 ?!!! I haven't watched that video fully on why he changed his mind. But what are your thoughts? As a beginner videographer, I look at advice from those who have the budget to use a wide range of cinema cameras - and now it's getting more confusing for me on FX3 (or FX6) vs C70... Hope you can be able to shed some light - thanks again for your guidance!

@@ItsTomRich Thanks for your reply. Sorry, but in addition to my limited budget, I can't help but look at YTube videos of various filmmakers with what their experiences are with each camera that I'm comparing - to serve as a guide in helping me choose/buy my first entry-level cinema camera. I'm grasping for some logic as to which is the better "bang for the buck" between the 2 close rivals (fx3 vs. c70). Looking at your video, it appears fx3 would be a clear winner. But looking at Thomas Kovacik's video, he moved from the fx3 to a c70 in a year - hence, scratching my head. I believe I'm swayed by the fx3 (or fx30 if price is considered) for shooting at low light... But anyway, thanks for your input!

As someone who started with a canon r6/tons of rf glass and switched to the fx3, there's one thing to think about. Yes, the FX3 is far more reliable for filming (especially longer format content), but the canon r6 is a budget hybrid shooter. Instead of canon limiting video modes, they tried to open up the full potential of the camera with the drawback of overheating. I agree that 4k24 should ever overheat but even the A7IV (released a few years later) only offered 4k60 at a noticable crop. Also, another thing that you didnt talk about was the monitor quality. My R6 monitor is significantly higher quality than the fx3. I dont trust the monitor on the fx3 to accurately depict the final video product, whereas I can rock my canon r6 without an external monitor. Ultimately I am super happy with my FX3, but the canon r6 is still an incredible piece of technology that allowed me to grow my skills into an actual "cine" camera. And I will add that both cameras produce awesome images, but clog3 was easier/more forgiving for me to grade and be happy with (especially when I was first getting started) compared to slog3 cinegamut (or something like that). Awesome video and a good perspective, especially since I keep seeing stuff with creators going the opposite way (FX3 to C70)

I switched from the EOS R to the A7III last year and never looked back. The overheating thing is weird, I’ve seen reports of the A7IV overheating but I let mine record 4K 50fps 10 bit 4:2:2 outside during the heatwave this year and it recorded until the SD card filled up or the battery died. I think a lot of people forget to set the ‘auto power off temp’ to high.

Appreciate it bro thank you 👊🏻 The FX30 is a sick B-cam to the FX6. I basically wouldn't have bought the FX30 if it wasn't so cheap. The main reason is that so I can have two tiny cameras (A7IV and FX30) in one backpack and don't lose quality without bringing the FX6. I bought the FX6 cos I do a ton of interview type shooting - and just love a cinema camera setup.
