As someone who has dreamt of owning this car, allow me to make the following points: 1. On reliability, that was one of the earliest versions of the car. It's always a bad idea to buy the earliest editions of ANY car. Let people buy it first, give feedback, have improvements made, then buy the ones that follow. For this specific car, there was a revision done in 2020 during COVID, wait and get that one. It has less problems. The other thing on reliability is that people want small engines, that thing is huge and heavy, there is an 3L Diesel (in-line 6 Ingenium) that I prefer, but people want to get the 2L variant and complain that the car is unreliable. Get the engine that is big enough to pull the car you want, or buy a Forester 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 The last thing on reliability, Land Rover packs a lot of tech in their cars - air suspensions, powered sunroofs, powered seats, etc. These things fail at some point. You know what you are getting into, when you buy the cars. You either get coil springs and suffer uncomfortable rides or get comfort stuff and be willing to pay to maintain them. 2. On looks, you've summarized it, it's just new to people's eyes in a radical way, it looks cute. People will get used to it. Land Rover don't do ugly cars, the uneven butt is something carried over from the previous generations where they used to place spare wheel at the center and push the number plate to the sides. The spare wheel has been moved to under the car but that design cue still signifies that it's a discovery. Also, if it's a big issue for you, you can get an aftermarket one which is centered. 3. Lastly on price, that's due to the tech and capabilities of that car compared to its predecessor. That car has the on-road capabilities of a full Range Rover Autobiography and the offroad capabilities of a Defender. And it's a LAND ROVER, Status symbol.
Land Rover products are INFAMOUSly unreliable even while new, let alone hand me down second hands. Benzes park even more tech than Range Rovers and they are leagues ahead in terms of general reliability. That's not an excuse
One thing that people hated the Discovery 5 was the redesign. Discovery and Defender are known for their boxy shape while the Vogue and Sport are sleek design. After the Defender was redesigned, Ineos took the challenge to design the Grenadier to counter it. Alafu walitoa the split gate, which is iconic for both Discovery and Vogue. So the Disco 4 will always be a favorite for most Discovery fans.
If the only things worth mentioning about a car are its color and the size of its doors, it’s clear there’s not much else to say about it. Honestly, I’ve always thought this car was ugly-especially the side and rear profile. I have a neighbor who parks one next to my SLK, and honestly, it’s just massive for no good reason. The thought that he might have spent 10 million on it... crazy! 😅
If you ask me, the Discovery 4 was the pinnacle of the Discovery Brand...Provided Extreme Utility, proper interior space, looked really classy (not too shouting or too boring), the diesel engine had proper oomf, the interior was luxurious, rode on air suspension and had a proper 4x4 system. For most people, it was "everything under one roof" kind of package. Then landrover went ahead and just messed it all up. Going forward, the discovery die-hards will just get the new defender...the "Discovery" brand will fade into the obese...I mean, just look how the "discovery sport" flopped in sales. Alafu, what the heck was landrover thinking when they made the rear number plate off-center like that? It has never sat well with me,if anything it makes the vehicle look crooked.
8:54 Unfortunately? Thank God they are not electric. Knowing JLR products, the less automation the better. I do like the look more than the previous gen, and I hope the drivetrain is reliable.
Seven seater SUVs are funny vehicles, they can haul up to seven people but no space for luggage, what's the point? Most people will travel with atleast a small bag... Mtu abebe kwa mkono ni kama ako kwa matatu in a 9m car
amesema in terms of tech.. unajua watu hubuy landrover for luxury and landcruiser for reliability.. they are plain and basic. very basic.. 570 have nice build materials but still basic..
This car is supposed to have very serious off-road capabilities but you did not mention or demonstrate, may be you can do an off-road challenge with the Landcruiser.
Landrovers make quite capable off-roaders. The driving for their cars is amazing. they are ahead of Toyota in terms of technology but remember Landrover sits on top as unreliable manufacturer while Toyota is the top reliable manufacturer. If cost effectiveness is not your concern then go for it otherwise Toyota wins
Few things here, how will you know its unreliable unless you own it for like 6 years, after just one drive review, what you'd need to do is go to the garages or owners forums and aggregate what they tell you goes wrong then make a compilation and then draw a conclusion from that. Having said that, having alot of electronics and automation of everything means when something goes wrong it affects other things and thus costs a fortune to fix. Custom air suspension also means you can't just fix it anywhere also costs a fortune. People mostly don't like this new one cause of cost, its expensive to buy, expensive to insure and expensive to maintain, which beats the whole appeal of having a such a vehicle. You can't really take it to random places cause if something fails, you're screwed. All in all, land rover abandoned their target market with this one and hence why its unpopular also, as you said, why buy that when you can get the range rover or something else
I also don't like the car but it's a good review. The tow feature is nice but the sunroof design is not quite good. I think the cockpit deserves 9/10. Front grill iko fiti bro. Pia hiyo nyash iko fiti. I like the tail lights. Fake exhaust tips not good. Overall rating 9/10. I would like the "olange" colour. Good job! Bring the Mercedez-Benz GLE.

Unpopular opinion, this is just an expensive Toyota Fortuner

We love the box look
It looks good,it's practical,efficient for it's value
At that price you can get Toyota Prado VXL, I would go for that because of reliability though wamenyoga sunroof 😅
8:54 Unfortunately? Thank God they are not electric. Knowing JLR products, the less automation the better. I do like the look more than the previous gen, and I hope the drivetrain is reliable.
Great job waigera
Discovery ilipoteza identity wakati face yake ilianza kufanana ya Range Rover.
