At home I use two STR8150 and a Denon1600 for practice. I have no control over what a given equipment a club or radio studio might have. Though we can all assume two CDJ (900/2000s) and two Technics are going to be there with some kind of Pioneer mixer (usually the 800). This fully integration into the CDJs allows me to be realistic in the studio. At a club though USB stick all the way. Bringing an S4 or any controller into any of those environments would suck ass.
i love how versatile native instruments is..they really want you using their products any way possible, so they make it happen with moves like these..this is genius
I get what you're saying but, on the other hand, this actually makes the competition work harder. This usually sparks the development of more competitive products for a fraction of the price. "The standard" isn't always the "best" option ;)
On one hand, this is awesome, and a huge step forward for digital DJing. On the other hand, this is Traktor and Pioneer getting even closer in bed together and stacking the deck against other competitors, making us, the customers, lose out...I'd love to see them now go on to establish this integration on other mixers from other companies, even if Pioneer is "the standard."
As someone else mentioned below, you will need to download the CDJ Aggregator tool which combines the (2)CDJ's so Traktor can properly read the 2 decks. WARNING: I've only been DJ'ing for a little under a year, so take the following advice as you may. My buddy has a CDJ setup, and I figured out how to play CDJ's with Traktor via the link below, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you are very familiar with both setups. I found it easiest to upload my tracks into Rekordbox and play the way the CDJ's are intended. Tip: uploading and analyzing my 500 songs in Rekordbox took 2-3hrs. I only recommend this because it was very difficult playing CDJ's while having to interface with my computer, but if you are familiar with both it might not be as frustrating. All this being said, I loved learning to play the CDJ's, and I think it is good practice for all DJ's to be able to play on the fly whether you have your setup, or thrown on a setup you aren't as familiar on. Happy Mixing all! th-cam.com/video/m5fcB7jmurI/w-d-xo.html
pretty awesome for those using traktor at home and such. also awesome for those who are using pioneer setups and would like to play with those new remix decks.
I'd recommend switching over to Ableton if you want to use your DAW for live purposes. It's hard in the beginning, but if you already know FL you'll master it in a couple of weeks.
About fkn time. I bought the CDJ-900 shortly after release and had to sell it because the Traktor integration was shit. 2-3 years later and it finally works right (or so the video shows)....
Hi Techoneofficial, thanks for your response. Maybe you are correct, I should consider the way I'm using TP2. But I find it hard to think that after using the same set up and configuration on numerous occasions it is a user problem and not a software problem. I like TP2, I like how I can customize it. But it is a terrible feeling, when you are in front of a crowd, (2 hours in) and your equipment fails. Thank God I had CDs and Serato intro.
Okay, dude. Seriously, I need to learn to become a DJ. It looks like so much fun and I just want to do it as a major hobby along with the photography and film that I am currently doing. How and where do so many of these guys learn all of this? The MIDI usage as well as becoming user-friendly with the software looks extremely complex to someone who isn't even remotely close to an avid experienced DJ like me. Are there cheap ways to learn about all of this? Schools, manuals, etc.? Help me, oh gog.
you plug each cdj to each usb port, connect the players to the mixer as normal and voila...if more usb ports are needed i suggest getting a powered usb hub that an be used with or w/o the power adapter
cdj 1000 can only be run with timecodes... make sure your rotary knobs are switched to CD / LINE & have the same settings on the pioneer djm 900 utility... (driver )... should work then... also make sure you choose the soundcard PIONEER DJM 900 ASIO in traktor software too..
that is for linking rekordbox... so no the USB is creating an HID connection reading software and specific code written for the different features of Traktor for specific buttons on the CDJ
okay, i see you point, but we have 2 different jobs, so we used it different of course. But why dont you just buy a traktor kontrol S4 then, its much cheaper and can do a lot of awesome features.
I agree. It's a hell of a lot easier to bring a 32GB usb stick and a pair of headphones into a club than a bag with a computer and a controller. But I do a unique revolutionary funk radio show that relies heavily on traktor for juggling spoken word. It would be impossible to do with just two CDJ 900s.
no just connect them via usb and connect the output of the cdjs to your mixer, just like in a normal setup, the only difference is you take the music of your computer instead of an usb stick or a cd
Would be great if clubs adopt the new CJDs / DJM. Would normalize the booth so no need to hook up different controllers for different DJs. Just plug and play.
Have you ever used Traktor? It's different. Not better not worse but different. You can do more with a computer in terms of beat juggling and FX chains.
i have used Traktor for like around 1 year now, so yeah i know, but im going to buy pioneer cdjs and a mixer. because i hate to have a computer with me on jobs. but yeah i can see the idea is smart, but i dont understand why use computer with cdjs and mixer with soundcard...
in theory it sounds good but didnt work for me, when I adjusted the pitch on the CDJs it adjusted the master volume within traktor. Traktor is a train crash for me. hate it
i know, but im not sure if you noticed the HID for the 400 is quite, well theres no other word to replace this , rubbish. That's why i just use time codes for my 400s
never use a non powered usb hub... i've used my belkin 4 port powered usb hub i bought from walmart on clearance religiously for over a year now and i have had 0 issues... the only issues i did have was using an hp running windows 7... since moved to a base model MBP 13" and it runs circles around that hp.
with an external sound card like Traktor audio 6 or 10 Plug your cdjs to phono inputs on the soundcard and the outputs to your mixer then plug your soundcard to your pc and then lets rock ;)
Can someone please explain to me how to hook this up correctly? I currently use traktor scratch pro with the audio10. Which cables do I need and where should you plug them in? + I have a macbook pro with only 2 usb-ports. Do I still need to put the timecode cd's in the cdj's? Thanks in advance!
I think so, since it's advanced HID now. But what I know for sure is that many display features have been updated. But I still don't like the fact that they still support the old CDJ 400 and ignore their small child the CDJ 850. I have seen more 850 in a club than 400. So I'm really disappointed and angry right now!
Let's hope "it's as easy as that" .. I haven't had much luck with my djm 900 as a "certified" mixer yet . Let's hope this update fixed the bugs .. Does anybody know If pioneer have updates to suit ?

Thumb up if you too own the CDJ-850's and once again is feeling rejected!!! Thanks NI and Pioneer!!! We do love been rejected every single time!
for all the effects and goodness that traktor has to offer!
As someone else mentioned below, you will need to download the CDJ Aggregator tool which combines the (2)CDJ's so Traktor can properly read the 2 decks.

This is making so accessible. I can't wait to here how the next generation take this technology and the music they will make.
Finally - I was so waiting for this. Great job NI
I'd recommend switching over to Ableton if you want to use your DAW for live purposes. It's hard in the beginning, but if you already know FL you'll master it in a couple of weeks.
Does it work with djm 2000 the same way of the djm 900 nexus?
hello, i got the same question do you know now ? i would buy two NEXUS 900 to play on traktor. Thx for help ;)
About fkn time. I bought the CDJ-900 shortly after release and had to sell it because the Traktor integration was shit. 2-3 years later and it finally works right (or so the video shows)....

Native Instruments will this work on the cdj 900 nexus?
wow, I think the DJM 900 just became my favourite mixer right now!
Technasia.
It almost sounds more like loops from what they took those sounds from though. Halo's 'Disko Tone' on Siesta Records from back in 1999.
Okay, dude. Seriously, I need to learn to become a DJ. It looks like so much fun and I just want to do it as a major hobby along with the photography and film that I am currently doing. thats sick that it remembers all the cue points and effects!
you plug each cdj to each usb port, connect the players to the mixer as normal and voila...if more usb ports are needed i suggest getting a powered usb hub that an be used with or w/o the power adapter

3700 now 3900....yea that is also a one crazy invention....love that machine..
Yesssssss! I've been waiting for this!!
I don't trust usb-hubs that much. especially during a live set... Think I'll just stay with the timecode system then. Thanks for the info!
Ye and the CDJ-2000 Nexus has a new software (and a bigger screen), with bigger and coloured waveforms. Can't see that in this video.
there is no HID mode on the CDJ 900 nexus !!! why not???
bruno anthony CDJ 900 NXS / XDJ 1000 will work with the newest Traktor update, beta is out now.
ahhahaha took way to long from pioneer. stept over to full Traktor control s4 and a F1 + X1. way better then pioneer combined with 2 Technics Sl's ;)
CDJ 2000 in this video is referring to advance HID mode. Not midi.
and also, at serato you have to plug in your soundcard to regardless if you use it or not!
part of the CDJ-2000 is lit red at 3:15 and the cable he plugs into his mbp goes from red/pink to white.
It's a red light.
This is why i love Pioneer!
okay, i see you point, but we have 2 different jobs, so we used it different of course.

Traktor pro 2.6, plug and play, add an f1 with some moveit loops to your setup if using djm 900 and ull become the terminator :)
Does HID Mode work with cdj 850 k?
when I get abletone would it accept the synths that are within FL? I don't think so. That's the reason why I wont switsh.
How do you map the cdj2000 buttons to traktor, so you can use effects, etc without having to use the computer?
No still no full support for the Pioneer 850 series!
But i think timecode works with the DJM 850
no
just connect them via usb and connect the output of the cdjs to your mixer, just like in a normal setup, the only difference is you take the music of your computer instead of an usb stick or a cd
Would be great if clubs adopt the new CJDs / DJM. Would normalize the booth so no need to hook up different controllers for different DJs. Just plug and play.
since this is a controller feature, where no timecode is needed, this works also for the non-scratch traktor.
Does this imply to cdj 850s aswell?
I'm looking for an answer to this aswell. Does anyone know if it's possible to use the cdj 850 with traktor?
Ttjy8rbzd😦5**$(** $-; ???ml uukuk6v5mgjdmzyk😢b
rickyalan1227 yes it will work
I've tried it with my windows laptop and coudn't figure out how tho
i dont understand the part where to plug the usb ...do u need 3 free usb ports??? 2 for cdj and 1 for mixer???
Hi, What traktor software are you running so that HID on the cdjs are compatible? Thanks
you guys should do DJM-2000 and T1
do you have to connect the mixer and both cdjs all by usb? or is it just the mixer?
it is as easy as that!... make sure you have the latest updated firmware and the drivers.....
A USB hub would be required to use both CDJs & a DJM-900 correct? (at least on a mac)
Do you need Traktor Scratch Pro or will this work with just Traktor Pro?
is there any firmware update to cdjs to do that? or just plug it
Can't you link the cdj's through ethernet? So you only need one usb-cable for all you cdj's?
are the mixer effects working on the tracks played through traktor?
And the cdj-350... I don't really understand why the cdj's-400 have it, since they don't sell it anymore
I'm confused :-/ My CDJ 900's and DJM 900 have been doing this for months.. Whats different now?
Have you ever used Traktor? It's different. Not better not worse but different. You can do more with a computer in terms of beat juggling and FX chains.
So basically you need 3 usb ports to use this?
i have used Traktor for like around 1 year now, so yeah i know, but im going to buy pioneer cdjs and a mixer. because i hate to have a computer with me on jobs. but yeah i can see the idea is smart, but i dont understand why use computer with cdjs and mixer with soundcard...
Is NI ever going to come out with a CDJ???
No??
Seems like it
CDJ's are made by pioneer and NI already has a selection of controllers, I don't think they would do that because they might get sued for copyright
Rayden Smith why would they ever do that? CDJ's are old technology, NI is all about the future, no more jog wheels, touch pads only!
Just look at their new D2!
yup rite.....midi controllers can do these things....but the thng is they wont found in clubs...
Yes you need it
Or use a USB Hub
Can I browse traktor using CDJ850's as shown on the 2000's ?
can u use the cdjs with a non traktor mixer like the 2000 but still have the cdjs controlling tractor ?
@Dartflare
I don't get it how come the already discontinued cdj 400 can do more than the new 850's ?
What's the name of the second track? Right after Technasia track??
Only thing I don't like about it is that it disables the CDJ's effects...other than that works great.
Do you need an aggregator for Windows or can you just use 2 USB cables and it'll work out of the box?
Can I still plug right into the DJM-900 if i'm still using Traktor Scratch Pro as my interface not T2?
in theory it sounds good but didnt work for me, when I adjusted the pitch on the CDJs it adjusted the master volume within traktor. Traktor is a train crash for me. hate it
What does HID stand for? Been looking everywhere.
+milidin Human Interface Device
so if you have your cdjs linked to traktor, do you need to connect the mixer to traktor as well?
no
I still dont see the FWD/REV switch illuminated does this still not work?
The only thing i see now want to use Traktor is the RemixDecks... think soon Pioneer also made that thing...
that song is called "Heart of Flesh" i forget who produced it though
Whats happening to the CDJ-850 HID ? Native Instruments
i know, but im not sure if you noticed the HID for the 400 is quite, well theres no other word to replace this , rubbish. That's why i just use time codes for my 400s
Native Instruments Can it work with CDJ 2000 Nexus Decks?
Can I connect 2xCDJ and DJM simultaneously ? 3xUSB needed?
How do you use an X1 controller if the 2 x cdj2000's use up both of your usb ports on the mac??
They didn't mention you need an aggregator to link the CDJs together as 1 sound card so Traktor reads both CDJs as 1. Very important step.
What's an aggregator? Which one did you use? Thanks for the info
8DeaD7 an agregator allows you make both CDJs as one sound card because traktor can only read on cdj at one time.
8DeaD7 you can download it on pioneer website or just google cdj aggrigator
Mac Joseph
You are amazing. Thanks man!
8DeaD7 np i always help fellow djs
which hub works with APPLE & USB3? I've tried about 10 & none of them work.
can you swich from Traktor to USB back to Traktor ?
why connect the CDJ 2000 to traktor if it has recrodbox ????
Sounds like you haven't used traktor properly. I have serato SL3 and the S4, this intergration makes me want to sell serato ASAP.
never use a non powered usb hub... i've used my belkin 4 port powered usb hub i bought from walmart on clearance religiously for over a year now and i have had 0 issues... the only issues i did have was using an hp running windows 7... since moved to a base model MBP 13" and it runs circles around that hp.
Well its working with my vestax pdx a1 turntable but getting nothing from my cdj1000mk2 .
Who produced this track playing??
so no need to downoad tsi files anymore and it wil wrk like serato or virtual dj?
can i plug only djm2000 via USB and use cdjs too with HID on 2.5.1 TSP ?
HID MODE don't show in my CD player and I was update my cdj
What other machines can I hook up to my traktor s2
with an external sound card like Traktor audio 6 or 10
Plug your cdjs to phono inputs on the soundcard and the outputs to your mixer
then plug your soundcard to your pc
and then lets rock ;)

how can I use HID mode with the 2000's and run my 2 f1 controllers? how to I rout it? Please help..
Let's hope "it's as easy as that" .. I haven't had much luck with my djm 900 as a "certified" mixer yet . Let's hope this update fixed the bugs .. Does anybody know
If pioneer have updates to suit ?
i dont get it, why use computer, when you have pioneer cdjs and djm...
yes...big point man......Like Panda who only eats Bamboo...when Bamboo gone Panda gone...
Pioneer DDJ S1 can do all those stuffs!
It's very cool !!! i make a DJ in 1990 and time RUN!!!!!i have 2 Technics SL-BD1210...don't tell other.
Digital floating holograms not included.
