  • We finally got the windshield changed. This windshield is designed for HUD and KAFAS the part number is: 51 31 7 285 901
    Only thing Left to do is code the all the other options in our BMW F32 2014 and test that options 8TH, 5AS and 610 (HUD) work, unfortunately the HUD won't be enabled just yet since I do not have a cluster with the right plug or the dashboard.
    A huge thank you to the guys at Vite Vitres Jacques (not sponsored by them) for allowing me to film the entire process, I know there are a billion videos our there about this, but I have never seen this done in person. So it was a great learning experience.

    Is there a way to see if I already have the windshield? I have a 2019 430i LCI and plan on also doing a 6WB and HUD retrofit.

      The easiest way is to put your phone with some white big letter on a black background and see it it gives you double reflection, but to be super sure about it, I recommend removing the trim under the windshield wipers and check if it says HUD at the bottom, but my best guess is that you don’t..

    Nice video, thanks! What gel did you use for the rain/light sensor?

    • @DorksandBolts
      @DorksandBolts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The gel that was used in this video was a generic gel that was provided by the shop. But if you want to use the OEM gel, you can get it from the dealer or online store of your choice using the part number. In our other video: th-cam.com/video/3UdgX5DLK3o/w-d-xo.html at the 4:14 mark we have the OEM gel and the rain sensor explanation. check that out.

      61359856157 it's the part number. if I remember correctly it was like $30USD but if you are like me in Canada, the price might go a little higher for shipping fees.

      It was about 1.5k, however my was broken and it was the catalyst for me to do the retrofit.

      If you got the round gel pad, that’s the one you want to use.

    Hello. Is it enough just to buy a kafas camera? Do I need to buy extra cables etc.? approximately what did it cost you?

    • @DorksandBolts
      @DorksandBolts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, that would depend on what you have on your car already install, if you have nothing like I did, then yes you need the wires. But besides that you would need the enabling codes and proper coding. The camera was not that expensive, I believe I got mine with the Kafas module and the LSVC wire for around €250.

    Do you sell the plastic base that is glued to the windshield where the KAFAS camera is attached ?
    I need for a BMW M6 F13 2014.

      Sorry we don’t, this part is attached to the windshield and unless you want to remove the paint on the windshield and paint it back to the appropriate dimensions, it won’t really work. You could 3D print it... but I don’t know how the final product would work

    Why are you using the roof as a table

    • @DorksandBolts
      @DorksandBolts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well… it’s flat, it’s there and most importantly I do not have a table in my tiny building parking spot so, I had to work with what I have. One day my friend one day.
