    Actually, now that I seen that this HUD just sits on the dashboard, i don't think this looks OEM. It's looks no different than any other after market HUD that sits on the dashboard. Except the other after market HUD's you don't have to go through all this re-wiring or wire tapping. All you have to do is plug into the OBDII port and everything is ready to go.
    I was hoping this device was something that got installed into the dashboard some how and looked more integrated.

      I think this is meant to be installed into the dashboard, but the owner is afraid to cut into the dash.

      The retrofit kit is different than a car that comes with the HUD factory option. The factory HUD has a slightly different dashboard to integrate a projector that projects directly onto the windshield in front of the driver. It's less intrusive.

      On a later model like the F30 there is a bezel that covers it to help it look cleaner but I get your point. On an E90 it doesn't look like it would come from the factory like that. I called it OEM as it's made by the original equipment manufacturer.

      Leave it. This plastic crap is useless. You should rather drive without a head up than using something like this. Only reason I see someone would accept a car with a plastic piece in your sight is just to claim the doubtful fame of a head up. Posing wont help if someone actually sees what you have in your car. Makes you the laughing stock.

Quick question - I also have an E90 3-series (LCI model) - but when I punch in the last 7 digits of my VIN, it said that the HUS would not fit. Also since you have exposure to the fuse box there, why "tap" into a wire for power, when you could just use a fuse tap and pull out a fuse, put the fuse tap in place and then put the fuse back in? Then just solder the wire to the fuse tap wire?
    Wouldn't this be better than tapping into wires through out your car? Plus all you'd have to do is put a larger fuse of 5 amps increase in replace of the existing fuse to accommodate the added amperage from the HUD.
    I'm just saying that, to me, I hate the need to tap into existing wiring on a car due to that it can cause issues, down the line, where you could run into electrical problems on the car and troubleshooting electrical issues on a car are a nightmare!!!

    • @KubiIay

      @berniecruz8405 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KubiIay actually, not all fuses are always on. Some only come on when the key in the ignition is turned on, but also mainly he could of just used a HUD device option which plugs into the ODBII port under the dashboard and that would have been easier to install.

      The app looks like some dude coded it in his free time as a debugging tool / alpha state and BMW was like "yeah, gud enough i guess"

    It’s a good video, but it just doesn’t look good. I’ll pass on these DIY huds and save for a new car instead

    Wow. That voice sounds like my Auntie Kay after she'd spent her whole life smoking Green Death Cig's and drinking in the afternoon at the York Hotel. "Now Turn Left Honey and don't go too far. Auntie needs her feet rubbed again with the ointment". LOL. Creepin me out man!!

    Looks awful like from a bargain Chinese eBay store. Something stuck on the dash.

    After all that hard work, it looks dorky on top of the dash.. :( I would never do that to the dashboard.. Also, pulling off the protective plastic on the plastic lens before you install it is a bad idea.. Looks like you already scratched the screen before you even used it..
