Scott Morrison reveals he struggled with anxiety during his prime ministership

- Former prime minister Scott Morrison has revealed he faced mental health challenges during his time in the top job.
The 55-year-old told NewsCorp he suffered from 'debilitating and agonising' anxiety during much of his time in The Lodge.
He described eventually seeking help and was prescribed medication.
He said the pandemic and China's restriction on national imports during this time caused his anxiety to worsen, saying: "It just sort of built up. I couldn’t put my finger on a particular time”.
He added that it was “a very stressful period”.
“The stuff around China was as, if not more, distressing than the pandemic.”
Mr Morrison believes without the help of medication he would have fallen into a serious depression.

That is the role of a leader. You are shouldering an entire nation and their well being. Honestly, you should feel anxiety as a world leader. Especially for the citizens of your counrty. So they dont have too. If your constituents feel more anxiety than you do, your doing it wrong.

Should this account be true, one would fully expect a person holding such high office who knowingly continues in the job when fully aware of a personal psychological problem, to resign.

What about Australians under his regime? Lockdowns, jab mandates, people loosing jobs, houses and so on. What about children, they were robbed of their future, suffering mental health to this days. The list is much longer. I lost my job. And now, we need to feel sorry for him? This is a bit rich.

I recall seeing one of his press conferences during the pandemic when he had trouble articulating, stuttering a lot and just appeared generally unwell. At least he's honest enough to share his personal struggles in the hope it may help others facing the same challenges. Imagine having the weight of the country's problems on your shoulders when you feel like that. He deserves the same compassion and understanding as anyone who's experienced similar issues.
