  • In this video, I'll walk you through step-by-step how to work an i-cord edge onto any crochet project. This technique will give you a clean and professional looking border on your projects.
This video tutorial is quite long but this is because it features lots of tips and advice on how to work this type of border. If you'd only like to watch the basics of this technique, I suggest you watch the sections labeled "Beginning the i-cord edge", "Working the last column of your i-cord edge", and "Seaming your i-cord together using the duplicate stitch" at the time stamps listed below:
    00:00 Intro
    00:30 Set-up
    1:57 Beginning the i-cord edge
6:57 Tips to help you transfer your stitches
11:43 Working into the side of rows/stitches
13:57 What to do if you drop a stitch
16:02 Working the last column of your i-cord edge
21:07 Seaming your i-cord together using the duplicate stitch
    Thanks so much for watching!
I learned this technique from watching a video and reading a very detailed blog post, both created by MrsMicawberCrochets. I highly recommend you check them out if you want to learn more about this techniuqe!

Thank you for this excellent tutorial. I honestly think it is the best video tutorial I have seen on any subject. The camera work, your clear voice, the way you explained and demonstrated each step - even how to find your way back if and when you drop any stitches. Outstanding! I am now going to put it into practise on a baby blanket for my great grandson.

Do you have to do the chain 4 for the four column row ? Can you do chain 3. ?

Wonderful tutorial. Question: was the i-cord border on your top also a 4-column example? Or did you use fewer columns on that piece? Thank you!

Thanks so much! And yes that one was a 4-column example :) It might look like less since the yarn is very thin, but it's the same as the one in this video!
