At the 48th Minute and 20thSecond there was a scene that made me cry and really felt the British World War 2 heroes sacrificed a lot. It made me cry when even An American Diplomat could not help a British Airman in Vienna Austria, Pre-December 1941
Why isnt this more popular? I'm pretty knowledgeable about classic ww2 movies and series and I have. Ever even heard of this movie before I just stumbled upon this at random. Does anyone else have any recommendations for more lessar known movies and series
how in the world did this guy keep that cough going?? He must've damaged his vocal cords or something.. I hope that story of this poor guy begging for food at the American Embassy is NOT a true story...Breaks my heart if true...
Can't any of you read? He meant the *chubby* officer that *picked him up* when he was standing outside in the rain. The officer even said that if his own driver wasn't on leave, his driver wouldn't have bothered to stop.
The British and New Zealanders turned away our American Citizens from their Embassies during the iran hostage crisis. That said, I wish we had helped that British Officer.
He wouldn't beg like that..He would be picked up within minutes....Great series but this was very badly acting...Annoying it ruined the whole series for me now
It's based on the experiences of Colditz POWs and in some places it's realistic. Dick Player's escape is based on Peter Allen's. Also Maj Pat Reid MBE MC was technical advisor on the show, and he'd written about his experiences in two best-selling books.
I absolutely love this series so far well made. I can't believe it's not more popular
I have a shit load of work to do. And here I am binge watching a 50 year old TV series
Me, too, and it pisses me off!
2 years on, did you get that work done ?
The scriptwriter must of got Carpal Tunnel from typing "Cough" every other line

A curious episode, half tragedy, half 'Allo 'Allo.
I shall say this only once……

Secret Army, Manhunt 1969+, Enemy at the Door are a few good ones.
@45:28 Michael Wisher. The first actor to play Davros in Dr Who, Genesis of the Daleks.
I know he's the enemy... but I really, really love Ulmann. Somehow despite being a hardcase, the guy is likable. I have no idea why.
*****
Well either way, I like him a lot.
Is that lickable or likeable? Are you sound? Are you a Wykehamist?
Likable is an acceptable spelling of likeable. So says my spell-check anyway. XD
He is not a hypocrite - genuine/sincere, disciplined, dedicated to excellence, sophisticated, unpretentious, intelligent, careful, discreet, etc.
MrKiriakopoulos He's an officer in the opposing army. By definition he's an enemy.
the woman goes out in a red dress and comes back in a blue one.
my kind of woman …
tough episode to watch...don't know why
Colditz is a British television series co-produced by the BBC and Universal Studios and screened between 1972 and 1974.
Universal Studios were only involved with the first series.
.....hence the inclusion of Robert Wagner as an unlikely Colditz inmate
i don't know why Dick keeps escaping he keeps getting sick
The old 'Tart with a heart'... needs must and I wouldn't blame any woman for having to do it in very difficult times.

Probably was true, yanks only look after themselves that’s why the won’t go for universal healthcare
@@kevinpierce3458 this was a good tv series.
@@kevinpierce3458 that was actually very selfish and self centered of you to say as well. Touche'
I need her help.
10:00 A snap escape!
Also, the chubby officer who picked Player up was... rather nice for an SS guy.
Perhaps there is there an ulterior motive to your comment.
Bill Hiers the black uniform in the cafe is a tankers uniform. Not part of the SS
@@JohnoO_O_ SS Panzer Division Totenkopf he has the deaths head insignia.
@@stevenclark9987 Interesting thanks. I was unaware that the Wermacht Panzer Grenadiers also used the deaths head insignia.

As a kiwi, I feel embarrassed the New Zealand embassy did that to American citizens.
kw d
The Canadians took your embassy people in.
Karma, you also never helped us during the Suez
Incorrect. That was one of the inaccuracies in the film.
payback.
He`s a decent human being....
What happen to Dick Player later?
I quit after 30 minutes of Player coughing his guts up......
20:53 Looks right down the barrel! BBC too stingy for second takes.
Ulmann I mean
Ffs, grow up Carter!
OTT
For God's sake. Churchill was half American. Diplomatic coward in the penultimates.
Take Player off the escape rota, German soldiers LOVE him and want to be his friend. Its a liability.
Depressing fellow coughs too much!
not the best episode, very tedious
The guy was just a cheapskate.

is this in any way true, or just hollywood, crap

This is British anyway and nothing to do with Hollyweird.
