Dee Dee was so adorable I wish I could hug him. Same with Joe agh!! It makes me very sad but at least they're angels now forever rocking and having fun.
I saw the Ramones 4 ~ 5 times between 1977 and 1979. I was boppin' like a cretin in the 1st row at Alexander Hall in Princeton, on Mar 23rd, 1979 and was rewarded, surprisingly, by Dee Dee giving me his guitar pick at the end of their set. I still have it. 1 -2 - 3 - 4!
The great Joe Strummer crammed alot into his short life.I've read a few books on Joe.He's my favorite Rock Star or Punk Rock Warlord.Warts and all Joe was a super talented sweetheart of a guy.Never let his fans down.My friend owns a restaurant in Manhattan.Joe used to come in quite often. My friend had a large vinyl collection.Joe signed every Clash album he had and told a story about each one.At the time i owned a club in Philly. Its a big regret of mine that i didnt get the chance to meet him.
Dee Dee - funny as always, and for some reason it always surprises me how much sense he's always spoken, even during the days of his airhead act Joe Strummer....brilliant, brilliant man, it's awesome to see someone like him be so humble and give credit where it's due...and his philosophising...makes me respect him even more... RIP, both of them...
Man 2000s are tragic decade for punk rockers.First Joey Ramone died in 2001.then Dee Dee and Joe Strummer died in 2002. The next two years , johnny. Wish they were still here
Dee Dee raised a good point in this video about Joey. He was talking about Joey's life after the band..and how his retirement years were spent just being sick and sitting in his apartment. It just dawned on me that the band was probably the only reason Joey 'got out' at all in his life. If it hadn't been for the band, he probably would have been written off by the medical system as a mentally ill, OCD freak, nutball..and probably would have just sat in his house or apartment..with his mother...reading books all day. As grueling as life on the road was, it is probably the only thing that actually gave him a 'life'. I could be wrong...as i didn't know the guy. But based on all of the stories and having some understanding of the conditions he had been diagnosed with, as dysfunctional as life with the Ramones was, it was probably a lifesaver or even a life 'giver' to him.
Joe, Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee are not longer with us, that has less than 50,000 views and Justin Bieber has about 700 squillion, zillion, gizillion views. What a fucking world...
Dee dee was smart as hell, that was really surprising the more I looked into his life. That guy was like *phew* way above so many people in terms of smarts and it didn't surprise me at all when I found out later he wrote almost all the hits of the Ramones. The way he talked and acted and the heroin addiction, it's the same story isn't it - Don't judge a book by it's cover. To me the Ramones would have never existed without that guy.
Dee Dee does seem high as shit in this interview. But without a doubt he wrote some of the best american rock n roll songs. "Listen To My Heart" and "Glad To See You Go" are two of my favorite love songs of all time.
I watched Rudeboy the other night and could not believe the concert footage of the Clash from '77-'79 before coming to the states. Joe Strummer has to be one of the best frontman in R&R history. He had incredible stage presence.
The way joe Strummer speaks about playing rock and roll explains a lot about the terrific performances on stage by the Clash. Listening to Dee Dee makes me sad. Being in a big band often sucks the life out a person. And there's so many examples of that... Makes us fans feel like we're the parasites.
I Reserve my comments about Dee Dee only that He was a genius, Joey was a genius and Johnny was a genius even Tommy was some sort of a genius my favorite four!
50,000 of us have an eye and ear for talent...700 zillions didn't make the grade; or do well in school. What can I say...it's quality not quantity(!!) The people we listen to are people of character and substance. The other bozos out there selling millions are sell-outs that make what they get told to make or material that gets written for them. Some people are easily amused and entertained.

Joe Strummer is an amazing storyteller, with great insight.

Damn Joe Strummer! Got it like no other. Brilliant human being!
Oh Dee Dee you silly guy. I just love how he constantly changes his position all the time.
Joe strummer was the best!

As much as I love the Ramones, I find it painful to watch Dee Dee speak. He's such a tragic figure. But I could listen to Joe Strummer talk all day.

RIP the two of you. Thank you for what you have given us
Love the Strummer interview, sure miss the guy.
Rest in Peace Joe, Joey, Dee Dee and Johnny.
Joe, you are my guitar hero.
-The Future is Unwritten-
Tommy has died since this comment too 😞 rest in peace to the Ramones
Dee Dee was the most interesting character in the Ramones. A true creative genius and yet a self destructive drugged out street street hustler.
Man 2000s are tragic decade for punk rockers.First Joey Ramone died in 2001.then Dee Dee and Joe Strummer died in 2002. The next two years , johnny. Wish they were still here
Great Britain was starving for that style of rock n roll. They took it and ran with it.

Damn it Joe, why did you have to leave us?
RIP Joe & DeeDee
I wonder what Dee Dee meant exactly, by Joeys creepy east village friends? Interesting...

R.I.P. Joe Strummer and Dee Dee, two absolute legends.
DEE DEE THE KING !!!!!
Holy shit, Joe Strummer calling out 2002, the year he died.
I love Joe Strummer!

I know its so sad to think we now live in a world like that..
Joey did other stuff after Ramones. Managed a bane sang solo songs, recorded by his brother, who put out 2 albums after Joey died. Joey did interviews

I Reserve my comments about Dee Dee only that He was a genius, Joey was a genius and Johnny was a genius even Tommy was some sort of a genius my favorite four!

Rip Gais.....
Strummer at the 4:00 mark....
Joe Strummer is actually quite intelligent when he's not discussing politics.
Let me guess he was a democrat
Why does Joe Strummer have manicured lady nails on his right hand?
...Did Joe Strummer just complement the Beatles? That's bizarre.
