The 6th one is so true, ppl somehow are always in their native language communities when they travel abroad, those who do that are missing a lot! Getting to know foreigners and the way they live their life, culture and so on is so amazing also another positive point is that you stop moaning about how badly you miss things from your home-country, getting to know locals will also make your life a whole lot easier, I remember when I studied in Germany, just as you mentioned, the first flat I got was awful and it was until I got to know locals that they recommended me for an entire flat and the price I had to pay monthly was a real bargain this and many other good things happened just because I was hanging out most of the time with locals, so guys listen to Ms. Yulia and go out of your native community won't hurt you ;)

I can confirm about the depression and homesickness that comes after moving. When we first moved out of my home country I was 11 years old and I had hated every single bit of it.

that is the biggest funny thing about Russia, how much we are alike for clothing. we grew up studying places like Russia or china or any Asian country for that matter, but long time ago when there really was a difference. its like we blink and we all instantly become so much alike its too funny. not as funny like watching American tv and everyone sounds like we do, except for some places on the east and not sure of American French compared to our French or even the French Islands on the east coast.
1 bed bugs have exploded in numbers since the immigration from africa and certain asian countries. no issues in Russia, like Siberia where what is the normal winter temp. there? dose not take long to kill the bugs in that extreme cold. lucky you do not have many dead canadians living there with smiles on their faces (we love the cold and when living with another country who loves hockey like we do, well what can i say)
did she say buy cups or cops? be careful announcing that if you get stopped on the way to buy CUPSS. if you say to a cop that your are looking to buy COPS, look out!!!

Great city and a wonderful place, but no where's as nice as it was back home (right up the highway on the mainland roughly 650km away and 1 ferry ride to the island. but after awhile Victoria became my home. UVIC became the best university ever, and the beaches had the best breasts in canada (with the most blind old men on any beach in North America looking at girls)

If you come to Québec, learn FRENCH, English is not the main language here and outside of Montréal, only French is used.
What I made mistake was that I lived with Japanese roomies in Toronto.
