It depends on the component on the vehicle. For instance if you have a vehicle that is a towing differential for heavier load that one can hold 4.4 quarts some differentials can hold as low as 2.2 on a truck so it just depends on the specific diff most front differentials hold 1.5 to 2 1/2. I always recommend getting extra that way you're not close even if you spill a little bit of a lube also the lookup guide right here will give you everything for your specific year make and model. “There’s been a mistake.... Did you say steak?” 😂. Just ordered 2 quarts of 75w-140 for the PTU in our Explorer. Plan to change it next weekend, then run it a month and change it again. Looks like good stuff.
So I have to ask !!! Why Mobil and royal purple is on top of the list of everyone’s recommendations??? And if not what makes amsoil equal or even better? We talking about the 75w140 LS
This playlist will answer a lot of those questions also you can see some comparisons on the website with the link. th-cam.com/play/PLB_ftWArBFdcI3ZDM19yJ9Zvetaj8ycjz.html
The above link will give you the exact capacity and viscosity for your vehicle. This is my link if you would like to try the products. Tony thanks for being a part of my TH-cam Community
Correct all the severe gear easy packs have the modifier in it you can add more if you have a chatter but I have never had any rear differential chatter when I use the severe gear Gear lubes
Yahhh that truck is sweet! I never really liked Ram trucks but I tell you what that trucks and exception those long tube headers and the upgraded diff really really work well. Huge surprise! I'm kind of getting this truck snake bites. Scorpion bites with that. Kind of thinking about getting a 2013 Ford short bed crew cab four-wheel-drive 6.7 L Powerstroke with the 331 rear end gears and a small 18-inch wheel 275 60 r18. Document the fluid changes the comprehensive tune and before and after Dyno pulls. Probably end up at about 421 rear-wheel horsepower and 977 rear wheel torque. 19 1/2 miles a gallon average. Probably have the truck dropped 3in. Who knows😄
I would never service a diff without taking off the cover and removing as much of the metal shavings as possible. Its not difficult and its not expensive.
I agree on the old school rear diffs a lot of them don't have magnets and it's a must. However on the newer differentials that are aftermarket they have multiple magnet locations and they collect all the shavings. With those you're fine to just drain and fill and clean the magnets. Here is my full playlist on differentials that I have service. Differential: th-cam.com/play/PLB_ftWArBFdd5AI6YeZcFu7Lfxd3jotIA.html
@@Syntheticoilprotection I have magnets in the old style and they do not scavage ALL of the metal. Not even close. In fact, I've rebuilt a couple and the shavings form a sediment all along both axle tubes as well as in the carrier. It looks like settled silver paint in the bottom of an old can. Hoe it out with your fingers and use a bit of BrakeClean to clean it out. I will agree the magnets help. I watched this cuz I'm about to service my 14-bolt AAM diff w/ 10.5 ring, and will probably buy the AMSOIL 75W-110.

Since I carry 100 gallon water tank do you recommend 75w 140 or 90
If I was doing towing with that type of weight I would stick with the thicker gear oil

Did you add the Amsoil friction modifier to this when the rear diff oil was changed, or does the 75w140 severe duty already have it in tje oil?
Correct all the severe gear easy packs have the modifier in it you can add more if you have a chatter but I have never had any rear differential chatter when I use the severe gear Gear lubes
Have you ever tried Amsoil yet Allen?
No, I have never used in my truck, just my motorcycles.
