I’m a Guerrilla city gardener growing in my studio apartment with stuff I find from the neighborhood. My family thinks I’m silly when I get excited about my ‘broke experiments’, like growing cherry tomatoes upside down in a soda bottle hanging by the window without a trellis. Or amending my used dirt with food scraps and composting in place. IT WORKS. 😂 It’s nice coming across MY people. ❤

Looking good. Interesting item I found out; soil fertility plays a strong part on what flowers you squash produces. That's why you can stimulate your squash to start producing female flowers by throwing some extra fertilizer on them. Not too much though because if the soil is too fertile the plant won't produce enough male flowers.
You are so right about the basil. Any basil once they go to flower the bees forget everything else in your garden and swarm them. Love it. I also love your commentary on your garden as you walk through 😂

@BrokeFarmer the last candy roaster you showed has squash bug eggs on the top leaf and the momma was on a leaf and hid under it as soon as your hand came near. Love your food Forest. Good results topping off your citrus.

The fuyu persimmon it is non astringent, you can eat them like apples, the Tenanashi must ripen till it is soft like a water balloon before you can eat it. I had a ruby red grapefruit producing sweet fruits for 15 years them the Houston 2021 chill killed it. Your garden looks great, keep it up.

I'm growing ground cherries for my little cousin who loves them. A few came ripe yesterday. I haven't eaten them since 2021. I ate 1 or 2. Yeah, they are still nasty sugary ketchup tasting things to me, so she can have 'em LOL

Brokefarmer your garden is looking really good especially for how hot it has been I was in your area Sunday and it was baking 🥵. My ground cherries didn’t do anything this year I really like those little snacks. Stay blessed
FYI Honeynut squash doesn't store well long term, you'll be lucky to get them over a month old after harvesting before they start to shrivel up. I grow them because they have the best taste&texture of any winter squash I've grown so far, they don't last long in my house, I posted pics on my instagram last year if you want to see how they compare to butternut squash.

My cucumber plants have so many little ones, only 1 in. long but I am in Wi. I fed everyone right before a rain and my stuff is looking good. I topped my lime and she is taking off. No limes yet. I planted Bartlet pear this year. I want a Mulberry tree. My Nectarine has no leaves. Not dead though. What can I do?
