The Beastie Boys put out eight albums from 1986 through 2011. All of them went at least platinum. One of them went diamond. They are the best selling rap group of all time and are among the foundations of hip-hop. I highly recommend you watch more of their official videos. “Sure Shot“, “shake your rump“, “pass the mic“, “root down“, “so Whatcha want”, “3MCs and 1DJ”.
This was shot in Tokyo. I ran into these guys in a ramen shop in Shinjuku the day after they shot this. They were in Shinjuku for the same reason I was, vinyl shopping. I chatted with them over a bowl of ramen at the counter. Awesome guys that I have been a fan of since License to Ill (I was in 7th grade when that was released). These guys defined rap for a long time and their music is still relevant.
Intergalactic planetary planetary intergalactic. Another dimension another dimension another dimension. That’s what ya get with the distortion interspersed with that curly from the 3 stooges thing
Yes, the chorus is a robotic voice saying, "Intergalactic planetary, planetary Intergalactic," and then when it drops to lower notes, it says "Another dimension, another dimension."
@@FeltComputeMightDeleteLater Yeah I thought about that too... tried to look it up. I remember thinking like oh damn they fooled us. But some of it look too good to be green screen.
they dominate the game. check these vids: 3 mcs and 1 dj, pass the mic, root down, sure shot, so whatcha want, car thief, looking down the barrel of a gun, get it together, open letter to nyc, paul revere, hit it now, shadrach, suckers mcs (the live run dmc cover), glasgow 1999 live show vid, melkweg amsterdam live show vid, and on and on and on. focus on the paul's boutique LP to start--it is their masterpiece, but check your head and ill communication and hello nasty are also amazing albums jammed with killer tracks.
The effect on the voice is called a vocoder. Not only were they Japan but the BB were known to be very DIY (do it yourself) so it would have been the three of them one person on the camera and no permits. The did almost everything just the 3 of them and a few friends. They make the beats, engineer and produce, play the instruments, often make the videos they really were blazing their on trail. You might like "Root Down" or "Car Thief" by them. Do more
Hello Nasty was their first album with Mixmaster Mike on the turntables. I got to see the Beasties in ‘94 at Lollapalooza. They weren’t technically the headliners (Smashing Pumpkins were headliners that year), but they may as well have been. They blew everyone off the stage!
@@Kim-hc5si Yeah, Smashing Pumpkins threw a tantrum on stage after the Beasties because most of the crowd left after their set. I kinda stopped being a Smashing Pumpkins fan after that.
@@Kim-hc5si Surprisingly, it was James Iha doing most of the yelling. Finally, Billy said something like, “Well, if you don’t like what we’re playing, we’ll take requests.” Everyone shout for My Daydream. And to their credit, they played it.
The Beastie Boys (and the young romantics) were formed in 1978 from 2 bands. As punk was dying they put down their guitars and drumsticks and picked up an 808 drum machine and hung out with Rick Rubin while he was at NYU. They released their first single in 1983 "Cookie Puss". In 1986 they launched their "Ill" tour with the beginning of Def Jam Records. They and Run Dmc joined up for a tour and a movie (Krush Groove) was made that summer featuring many rap artists. Their album was the first platinum selling rap album ever. They continued to evolve and amaze until MCA lost his bout with cancer in 2012. Their last album was a year earlier. 1978-2012. Run Dmc are no doubt the kings of Rap (It's Tricky, My Adiddas, King of Rock) and the Beasties are the crowned princes.
Oh, in comments I didn't see anyone answer you're wondering about the chorus: The distorted voice says, "Intergalactic, planetary, intergalactic, planetary..." and after that shifts to "another dimension, another dimension..." repeated in with changes in where the emphasis is in the two words.
Leonardo DaVinci it says if you listen . He was paid by the church to do great paintings. He hid stuff in his works. If you listen again, it says his name constantly but hidden so much you didn't even notice or mention it.
Lmao .. well if it was filmed in Japan I can promise you this is nothing like the most bizarre thing most of them have seen .. love the culture! But they’re weird as fuck just how I like things ! Great video man dig deeper these boys are very much one of the reasons hip hop blew up so hard in the mid 80s .
Hold it now hit it was the one that got me on board. I was in the navy and stationed in Italy and i annoyed the Italians with it. Always blasting it and rapping with it top of my lungs.
Beastie boys are why i never bought the "whites are guests in hip hop " argument. They were peers with run dmc and ll cool j, a huge part of the beginning of rap going mainstream. If beastie boys are guests and not pioneers, that's a crappy ideology.

Don’t forget their punk EP Cookie Puss (it’s awful but I still played it on my college radio show once a week lol)
The voice in the beat is saying "Intergalactic planetary, planetary intergalactic", and then "another dimension, another dimension"
Leonardo DaVinci Leaonardo DaVinci, who hid stuff in his art the church made him make.

Saw them live in Manchester when I was a teenage pot head, my ears were ringing for two days.
The intro is “Night on Bald Mountain” by Leopold Stokowski

You prob heard Sabotage at least in a movie, dope song but worth reacting to for the video alone.
I love the B-boys. Great beats and bars. Always so much fun. I like the song Brass Monkey.
Beastie Boys legends. RIP MCA

I highly suggest checking out the track "The Move" from their Hello Nasty album.

Great album. This is not my favourite track from it, but the production is killer, & it's an iconic video for sure. :)
YESSSSSS!!!!!!!
If you wanna understand the video, watch the old Japanese Monster movies, especially Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan.
