I've heard this one before and I've always enjoyed it. However, I didn't know it was native to my home province of Småland, where I was born and grew up, before I left for university 15 years ago. As I said, I didn't know this was a local song, yet hearing you play makes me feel very homesick.
It took me a while bu I finally felt ready for this wonderful polska and it took me only two days to get it right :) (right enough. now it's just practice...)
You played beautifully. What is the name of this instrument in Denmark? Please say. It is a nice instrument that I loved at the first sight. Thank you so much.
The instrument is also called Nyckelharpa in Danemark (possibly spelled a bit differently sometimes, for example nøkkelharpe). Thanks for the compliment.

Well, to be honest I don't know much at all about finnish folk music in particular - that's also why I don't speak often about it. I know that the finnish national folk instrument is the kantele, so not the fiddle as in Sweden and Norway. Also the dances are quite different apparently - but in the swedish-speaking part of Finland, the repertoire and style are very close to swedish.
In the US, get in touch with the American Nyckelharpa Association ! In Sweden... depends where. The easiest is to get into the folk music scene, that's where all the musicians are.

@@judithcastellano6175 Oh so nice with the mountain dulcimer ! I've wanted one for years but it's hard to find here ; I could build one but tbh I don't think I have the time for yet another instrument ^^ Good hunt for your nyckelharpa !
I loved the tune, your explain, The forest the bells, and um sure the vilaje too .!
That ending was very hauntingly beautiful!
I knowww right ?? These few notes towards the end have a very special flavour.
Enchanting - and beautifully played!
It has a ring of Elizabethian music to an Englishmans ears ... very charming tune Emelie !
Hold my like! I wish I could know more about the instrument, and the people that still play it. Thanks for keeping art alive.
Well you've found the right channel then ;) I talk about nyckelharpa quite a bit here !
Jättebra spelat och en väldigt trevlig låt! Tackar och bugar.

Yes, in Sweden, with these kind of songs, you assume they are from Dalarna, Värmland or Hälsingland. Mostly because most of them are from there.
Great job! Love your videos! Beautiful setting out there by the woods also. Perfect place for a video.
Warm greetings from Sweden

What are some unique characteristics of Finnish folk music compared to other Scandinavian countries?
