I think more time passed between the second and third trains here than when i was at morpeth north level crossing a few days ago (and Morpeth north level crossing, the crossing was raised between the trains)

I wonder if this is a manually controlled crossing? Might explain the long delay between trains before the barriers raised. Same thing happens with crossings in Italy.
Yes it is manually controlled and monitored via CCTV. It was kept lowered for multiple trains by a signaller.
I wonder why they didn't raise the barriers and lowered them again between them second two trains. Definitely seems like there was plenty of time there unless it slowed down and already saw the signal.

Level crossings are not designed to raise and then lower again if there is another train nearby.
It seems strange it was lowered for such a long time. It doesn't help the road traffic that builds-up whenever this crossing is down
